Salome’s POV “I will get her a ride home right now,” Benedict said, reaching for his phone. “It is not safe for her,” I said. I kept my voice low. I did not want to cause a scene, but I felt uneasy. “She is barely awake. It might be better if we just get her a room at the hotel nearby.” Jeremiah turned his head. He looked at me for a long time. The silence stretched between us until I started to shift my weight. “Oh,” Jeremiah said. His voice was slow and heavy. “How kind of you. You really want to make sure she is taken care of, don't you?” I flinched. I could not tell if he was being sincere or if he was making fun of me. He did not give me a smile to help me figure it out.
