Kian’s POV She finished eating quietly after that. Not looking at me once. The tension still sat heavily between us, filling the space easier than words ever could. I watched her fingers tighten slightly around the fork before she finally placed it down against the plate. Then she spoke. “Why haven’t you walked away yet?” Her voice was soft. Controlled. But underneath it, I could still hear the frustration from earlier. I stayed quiet for a moment before answering. “The same reason you haven’t stood up and left either.” Silence followed immediately after. Because neither of us needed to explain the reason.
