Chapter five - Scarlet

1667 Words
I woke in morning after having the best sleep I've had in a month. I laid awake for a while just listening to Sam reading. After a while he had fell asleep. He started snoring, but it was calming. Not too loud and not too soft. It was perfect. I giggled at the sound of him snoring. I had sat up to look at him; his head was lent against his hand, legs folded under him and my book on the floor. It was actually extremely cute to see him like that. I sighed and looked over at him again; half of his body was hung off the chair. I smiled and pulled the sheets up. He started to stir, wincing as he moved and blinked a couple of times. "Hey," I greeted him, smiling like an i***t. "Good morning," he yawned, he stretched giving a little moan. And if I have to admit, the moan was sexy. "How are you? He asked. "I'm alright. You?" I asked sheepishly. "Yea I'm good thank you Scarlet," I loved how he used my name. "Did you go back to sleep?" he asked with a serious look on his face. "Yes" I said simply, smiling at him. "Thank you" He smiled from ear to ear, swinging his legs off the chair and stood up. I couldn't help myself from looking at his body. Everything was perfection from his olive skin, his abs and the little V-line. I was shocked that he had a body like this, being six feet and four inches tall. Most boys I've seen this tall are genially really skinny. I'm the complete opposite to both lanky and toned. I'm just curvy. I know I'm not the most attractive girl on the earth. I know that, my hair is too wavy and thick. That my skin was oily. My lips were too full and my eyes too small. The Colour of my eyes are a bright blue, which I like because it matched my dirty blonde hair. "Could I borrow this? So I can read the rest?" he held up my book awkwardly. I giggled and nodded, his embarrassment was obvious because he is enjoying shockingly enjoyed it. "No need to be embarrassed Sammy, you can't beat a good romance." He laughed, "I'm not embarrassed; I'm just waiting for you to start teasing me because I'm read a chick book" "Chick book?" I raised one eyebrow, and then started laughing at his choice of words. "Do you mind if I have shower?" he asked softly, now sitting at the bottom of my bed. "yea of course, it's through there. I'll make breakfast and coffee." I pointed at the door across my room. "Thank you" he said, walking towards the door. I jumped out of bed, brushed threw my hair and putting it up in a bun. When I walked out the room, I heard Emily's voice from the living room. Oh god, she's going to have a fit when she finds that I have a boy here. Specially a hot one. Cody is going to be protective and bombard me with questions after Sam leaves. "Scarlet is that you?" Emily asked and nerves hit me like a train. "Umm yea, it is." I said quietly. Cody then came out from the living room, looking at me suspiciously. I smiled at him weakly. "Are you okay Scarlet? You look worried" he stood there in the doorway rubbing his hands together. "Yeah I'm fine" I smiled brightly, and walked past him When I walked into the living room, Emily had cleaned up the mess I had left last night. She looked as happy as ever. Her hair was dark red and wavy, which brought out her eyes. She also had tattoos running up her arm, showing her life's work. I walked up to her then, hugging her tightly. She squealed and hugged me back. "Good-morning Scarlet" she hugged me tightly. "Good morning" I chirped back. "Someone is in a good mood" she looked at me with happy eyes. "Yep" I said pulling away. I walked towards the kitchen and got two plates and cups. Grabbing two slices of toast and placing them into the toaster for two minutes. I turned around easily turning on the kettle on, then grabbing the coffee and milk. I didn't know how Sam liked his coffee, so I made it like mine; milk and one sugar. Emily and Cody were staring me from the living room. "You hungry?" Cody teased, laughing when my cheeks turned red. "Nope" I laughed back. "Then why the two plates" Emily raised one eyebrow at me. I couldn't answer before, Sam walked in the room. Tripping over a few things on his way. I looked at him smiling. He caught my eye and his cheeks turned a deep red. Emily turned around suddenly looking at Sam then back at me with wide excited eyes. "Sooo who is this?" she said pointing to Sam, who was walking towards me. "Sam Micheal" he said softly and respectful. When he got to me he smiled brightly and watched me as I put jam on the toast. I could feel Cody and Emily's eyes on me wide and surprised. "How do you know Scarlet?" Emily called over Cody's rant about not knowing who Sam was. "I met her at a party, the costume one." Sam said but was still looking at me smiling. "Ohh really?" Emily said smiling at Cody, who may I say looked pissed. His whole body was tense. Then my smile disappeared. Sam noticed and poked my side. "Yea, then she walked into my class a few weeks later." He was now looking at her smiling. Emily looked at me with a look saying 'YOU HAVE TO TELL ME EVERTYTHING!' After Sam left, I turned to see both of them in the doorway. Emily smiling likes an i***t and Cody looking like he wanted to hit someone. I smiled weakly at them. "So you did know him? As hes the guy from the store" Cody was the first to ask a question. I gave me a shy smile and could feel myself feeling bad for lying to him. "Leave her alone Cody. what did you guys do?" Emily squeaked "Talked for a while, ordered pizza and watched a movie," I said softly "BULLSHIT! The way you were acting this morning was like you just had the best s*x ever. And the way he looked at you was the cutest. Are you in love?" she quickly said, catching her breath at the end. Cody was glaring at her, looking like he wanted to kill someone not hit them now. I don't know why Cody is so protective over me, he's worse with Emily. But seriously, he needs to ease up. "Emily, I didn't have s*x. He came over because he was worried." I said calming, trying to make Cody ease up. But didn't work "What was he worried about?" Emily said pulling a weird face. "You have been home alone before?" I froze, trying to think of something to say. "He doesn't like me being alone." Now that wasn't a full on lie. He doesn't like being by myself. "Aw that's cute" Cody finally said sarcastically. I then felt anger burning at the pit of my stomach. He doesn't even know Sam so he needs to shut the hell up. "He's really nice" I blushed, still feeling the burning in my stomach. "That's what you said about Aaron" Cody snapped at me. Then the burning anger ran up my body and I wanted to hit Cody so hard. How could he say that to me? Emily looked at Cody in shock. "How dare you say that!" I suddenly screamed at him. "It's true though. Isn't it?" what he said stung, bring back memories of Aaron; of what he did to me. "You still had no right to say that. It hurts knowing what Aaron did to me. Don't you think I remember everything? Don't you remember I was the girl he hit? I still feel the pain he left me in, you bastard." I took a deep breath and a stepped forwards. "You never told us that Aaron was a manipulative prick. You never told us what he was doing to you. Till you had enough. You acted like you were happy with him. We even thought you loved him. So how do I know you won't be like that with Sam" Cody snapped back. By this point we were face to face, only a few inches apart from each other. "For f**k sake Cody, I'm not lying. You are just being a complete d**k. I'm allowed to see who ever I want." I shouted at him, I wouldn't be shocked if people couldn't hear us from next door. "Then don't come crying back to me when he hits you because I won't give a s**t" his eyes went wide as he noticed what he just said. My lip trembled and tears were rolling down my face. Then next moment I punched Cody in the face, making a huge THUMP sound. I looked at my fist in shock then at Cody whose noise had started to bleed. He looked sad and angry. I was scared he was going to hit me back, but all he did was walk away. Emily was still standing there in shock, not believing what Cody had said and what I had done. I was crying even harder then. That was the first time me and Cody had ever had a heated argument. And it was all over Sam and Aaron. I couldn't like Sam, if it is going to cause trouble in our friendship. Next moment I had arms around me, and it was Emily's. She was saying how sorry she was to me and that Cody didn't mean what he had said. But he did. I could tell by the way he looked at me.
