DILLON I kick the dirt was I walk through the pack lands. Screw the Alpha and his stupid son. This was suppose to be mine! I can't help but feel the rage course through my body, I feel so very wronged, it should be my Alpha ceremony, not Graham's! The dense woods absorb the cheering, giving me the peace I need to figure out a new course of action. For to long, my life has been prospective Alpha this, kiss arse that, sprinkle a little ball cradling and you have me. Brown nosing 101. The gentle bubbling of the river breaks me from my internal battle. How did I even make it this far? This is the place is the far corner of the packs border, no one comes here, it isn't even patrolled. My stomach drops, the realisations I am about to leave my pack and it's land dawns on me. I stop to take a breather, leaning against an old tree, sliding down to rest comfortably on the damp floor. My last moments in the packs lands, spent admiring its beauty and beauty it was. It was a shame this would not be mine, so much potential to be had here. With one last sigh, I remove myself from the trees trunk and begin to move towards the clearing up ahead. Walking the path less travelled should give me some time to connect with my wolf out in nature. I always find my self to make better decisions when I am out in nature. My mind can't help but drift back to Audrey, I do feel terrible she was lost on my watch and I still feel a large sense of responsibility. I was probably spending too my time focusing on how annoying the job was, rather than just doing it properly. I can't help but wonder how differently things would have gone had Audrey not ran away. "UGHHHHHH " I scream, pulling my hands down my face. What a nightmare this is turning into. My peaceful meander throught the woods turns into a purposeful raging stop through the woods. My arms swinging wildly, a string of incoherent mumblings steaming from my mouth. My ranting is halted when I head the bushes ahead rustling, I quickly stop, mid tantrum and slink behind some trees. " John, just listen to me." The small woman pleads " Listen mum, you won't change my mind on this one." His voice is tight and I left out a sigh of relief, just a mother and son, arguing in the woods, nothing seems out of place or suspicious here. Rogues, are common past the territory lines. I know what your thinking, rabid beasts who want to rip your limbs from the sockets. Truly, that couldn't be further from the truth. Some wolf's just don't like pack life and that is ok, they quietly pack their things and leave. So many situations could lead to becoming rogue, not all bad. "She doesn't deserve to be cooped up here John, her family must miss her terribly." The woman's fragile voice breaks as she speaks. " Audrey is my problem, not yours! I think it best if you go into stay with Aunt Jenna for a while" His voice was sharp and to the point. Wait... Audrey, this conversation just gained 100% of my attention. " Please John, don't do this. You are not this person." She grabs onto his shoulders staring up into his brooding face. His eyes glare down at hers, his face turning a deep shade of red. " I TOLD YOU ALREADY MOTHER, NOW LEAVE." he explodes, shaking free of the woman's grip. Her small body slides to the ground, giant sobs shaking through her uncontrollably. I watch with amusement, he stops and falls to the ground beside her, pulling her in for a hug. " I don't want to see you this way mum, but this is something I need and I need you to support me, or leave while I work it out on my own." She nods, composing herself and getting to her feet. Her back turned she moves away quickly. The large man stands there, his face buried in his hands. I think this John, may be of particular interest to me. I don't think I will be making it to the human settlement anytime soon. JOHN The sound of the truck lumbering along breaks my heart. I thought she would be a bit more supportive of my decision. I understand, it isn't her cup of tea, but damn it, I am her son! She needs to support me and what I need for closure and closure comes in the form of revenge in this instance. I start the short walk back to the cabin, nothing else to do until I figure this mess out. The wooden door stares back at me, I know what is waiting on the other side for me. Audrey, the firey little blonde who has taken over my house. I take a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for whatever mood the princess is currently in. Just as I reach to turn the handle, a twig snaps. My attention is caught, I scan the surrounding trees and catch what I think is a white shirt slinking deeper into the forest. Why can't anything go right for me! Obviously I have to go check out the potential threat. Sighing heavily I turn towards the forest, dragging my feet down the stairs, today has been long I just want it to end. The cabin door slams open behind me. Her voice sounds like nails on a chalk board. " I am hungry, we're is Leona? Can we have popcorn tonight? I wanna watch a movie." The words fire at me in quick succession. " Holy s**t, child! Do you ever shut up!?" I grunt at her. I watch her face change from annoying and smug to confused and surprised. I can't imagine my reply would warrant such a sudden change but it has. " Audrey, look." I being, but someone else's voice copies mine. "Audrey?" His voice cut me off. " D..Dillon?" It was barely a whisper, he must of heard her. I step infront of him, halting his progress towards her. " Who are you?" I question him sternly. " My name is Dillon, and it would appear I have found what I was looking for." His eyes locked onto my prize. " Well, that's a shame, you can't have her. So move along." I shoot at the young boy. He peers around me." Audrey, go inside would you." " Nah ahhhh, not today buddy, you don't own me." This girl will fight with literally anyone! " Oh my Godess, Audrey! Just listen for once, just once in your life. He pleads. I can't help but wonder what this boy wants with the child. I turn my gaze onto Audrey. " Inside, now!" I demand. I watch her take a deep breath, poke her tongue out and blow, spit flying everywhere. " f**k you both. I am not property." She turns, slamming the door behind her for good measure. The young boy stands his ground. " Now what is it you want with Audrey." I question. His eyebrows raise. " I could ask you the same question." His voice almost screams confidence, the little waver at the end tells me he isn't so sure now. I stalk around him, keeping my eyes fixated on him. " Well, we aren't going to get anywhere like this, are we?" It is meant to sound menacing, it comes out more threatening than I intend. His body stiffens, maybe he finally senses the danger? I am not sure. " Alpha Richard and his son Graham are looking for her." He spits out all too easily. " Ah." I click my tongue. " And I bet your the one sent to bring her back?" " Well, not exactly." His vague reply interests me. " Well if you aren't here to return her, then why are you here?" He let's out a sigh, slumping his shoulders. " I was set to become Alpha, until Graham showed up to search for Audrey. He has taken his place and I was thrown to the side, like a used tissue." I can sense the hurt in the poor boys voice. I think it over for a minute, I don't have a plan, yet I think this boy could be the key to starting one. " It would appear we have much to talk about lad, come inside." I gesture towards the front door. This could be just what I was looking for.
