I wondered if Soren’s men had found us. If something disastrous had already happened to others while we here talking but when Gideon opened the door, there was no one, except for the soft mewing of a cat.
I heaved a sigh of relief as Gideon returned. It was just a cat, phew.
The moment I felt that relief, that we weren’t dying today, I collapsed on the bed, falling fast asleep even before Gideon got to me.
Morning came fast. I woke up wrapped in Gideon’s arms, naked.
My head hurt like a stone had been smashed into it. I groaned, sitting up just as Gideon opened his eyes.
