Lila’s Pov.
“Let me out!” I screamed at whoever was out there, banging hard on the tightly shut door.
Fear clung to my throat as I wondered if they’d really leave me in here.
“Let me out. Please! Mom?”
There was no answer. The room was dark, and cold. I hated the dark. I’ve always been unable to stay in a dark places since I was a kid and that was precisely why they locked me up in here.
Tears streamed down my cheeks. And I didn’t turn back for fear that the nightmares would start again.
“Mother? I beg you. I can’t stay here. I would do anything you ask of me. I won’t fail this time.”
“Lila, be good.” Mother’s soft voice came from the other side. “Your father will see you soon and he’ll decide if he wants to let you out or not. Be good.”
