CHAPTER TEN Along with everything else, it dawned on Miranda that she had no backup this time. No ex-boyfriend Detective Dave Wall to step in. Not only was Dave out of the picture now, there wasn’t a smidge of verifiable evidence, let alone firsthand encounters on her part. As she drove to the hospital to pick up Skip and take him back to the faux hacienda, she dickered over what, if anything, she should tell him.
