Chapter 4
Samantha
After a decent night’s sleep at the motel, I got up bright and early to meet Sabrina at the warehouse. I’m really hoping that I get this job because I’m running out of options. I could always go work at a club and use my body to make money, but I would rather leave that as a very last resort. It’s time that I got my life together. No more men. I need to concentrate on myself and my life. It’s down to me and only me, and it needs to stay like that until I can get into a better spot within my life. Guys just want s*x anyways, and I’m not ready for that yet. As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw Sabrina waiting for me.
“Hey girl! You ready for an exciting day, not!” She giggles at me.
I know this isn’t going to be very exciting work, but it was money, steady money, and that is what I need. Boring, not boring, who cares, because money is the most important thing right now. Luckily, I was able to take some food from the house, which why shouldn’t I, since I paid for most of it. So at least I have something to eat for a while. My plan was to pack lunch everyday and only eat real groceries, no eating out for me for a good long while.
“I’m not quite ready, but money is money, and we both know I need that right now.” I tell Sabrina.
“Yes, you do. You’ll like Mary, she’s super sweet and I know she’ll make sure that you’re taken care of.”
We walked inside together and went to the front office and looked around for Mary. This warehouse looked like any other warehouse you might see. Long rows of product to be shipped, trucks out back bringing in more goods. A suite of offices at the front with a small breakroom attached. Sabrina told me about this job a few months ago when she got it. She says that it’s tedious, backbreaking work, but the pay is decent and there’s benefits. I’ll be able to go to the doctor.

It’s Monday and driving to work as per usual. I own a huge warehouse a few miles away from the packhouse, along with a suite of offices across the street. It’s not fancy work, though I do get to enjoy myself and buy some higher end imports and auction them off in Kansas City. Finn reminded me on the drive back to the packhouse last night that it’s been a while since I toured the warehouse and checked on the employees that work there. Most of the employees are pack members, but we do employ some humans. Mary handled most of the day-to-day operations at the warehouse and I only popped over there every so often to check on things, make sure that everything is in tip top condition.
I pull into the parking lot along with Finn, my Beta, and Lance, my Gamma. We all pile out of the SUV and go inside. My receptionist, Chloe, has my messages ready and waiting for me, along with my morning coffee. She also has list of calls and meetings that I must take. Finn and Lance’s receptionists pile messages and coffee onto them as well. I can tell it’s going to be another busy day.
After my morning meetings I decide to walk across the street to the warehouse. I never tell them when I’m coming, though I haven’t been in a while, but it keeps the employees on their toes knowing that I can walk in at any point in time. Finn and Lance are joining me for this walkthrough. As we walk inside to the warehouse offices, I see Mary sitting at her desk crunching numbers. I knock on her door just to give her a heads up that I am here.
“Good afternoon, sir. How are you doing?” Mary asks.
“Good Mary, just popping in for a walkthrough. How are things over here? Any news? Anything I should know about?”
“Nothing new sir. A few new hires that are learning the ropes, but business as usual.”
“Thank you, Mary. I’ll let you get back to work.”
“Yes sir. You have a good day. Please don’t hesitate to tell me if you find any issues.”
