My tent was burned down, whatever happened in the dark realm in my sleep has affected the things around me.

I fixed my gaze on Reed, he had a distressed look on his face. He was yet to speak, to explain what just happened but he was here holding him just like the last time.

It was Reed that was somehow pulled me out of that dark realm. I do not feel drained like the last time but I am affected.

"You were on fire mistress!" Fia cried, there was an agonizing fear in her eyes, a fear I had never seen before.

"On fire ?" I muttered, I turned my gaze towards Reed, seeking confirmation but he was silent, my eyes then moved to his hands and I gasped, his skin was burnt and blistered, with patches of charred flesh. It was as if he had reached into the flames to save me.

"Reed," I whispered, my voice filled with concern. "What did you do? How did you save me?"

Reed's eyes met mine, a mix of pain and determination shining through. He hesitated for a moment, his voice strained when he finally spoke. "I couldn't just stand there and watch you burn. I had to act."

I reached out, gently touching his injured hand. Reed winced, but he didn't pull away. "Reed, you're hurt," I said, my voice laced with guilt. "I didn't ask you to risk yourself for me."

There was a fire around me but I was unhurt, just my clothes were affected. What was the meaning of this?.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Reed's lips. "You may not have asked, but you're important to me," he said softly. "I couldn't bear to lose you and it doesn't matter, I will heal soon."

"Thank you" I smiled weakly. Reed had saved me twice, how was he able to do that, was it because of the bond with us.

Fia, who had been watching the exchange with wide eyes, now spoke up, her voice trembling. "Mistress, there's something else you need to know. When Reed reached out to you and held your hand, there was a surge of energy. It was like a shockwave, and it destroyed everything around us."

I surveyed the charred remains of my tent, the blackened earth, and the smoldering ashes. The impact of what had transpired began to sink in. This dark world was strongly affecting me.

"We need to find answers," I said, determination seeping into my voice. "There must be a way to understand all this. Just a vision from the plagued wolf would not cause this much damage, the witch responsible is stronger than I expected." I rose from the ground and Reed rose with me, he was still holding me by my hand "I am fine thank you. You need to wash your wounds. Fia please help him" I added and released myself from his hold and in no second I fall back to the ground and passed out.

The sun beamed down my face and the heat was just enough for me to wake up from my slumber and I realized that I had fainted last night.

My body was sore as I tried to sit up from the grass I was laid on, there was a blanket over me, it was then I finally realized the devastating effects my vision caused last night.

There was no tent, our property was ruined by the flames I released. I spot Fia trying to savage anything still useful but her efforts so far was proving to be fruitless, she had not noticed that I was awake, it hurt to watch her like this, she appeared to be in despair and it weighed down on me.

There would be no sleep for me now, I had to find answers unless I might hurt somebody else, Reed hands got burned last night because of me, he literally jumped into the fire because of me, I have not given him a reason to.

Was the bond between us truly from the moon goddess?, why would she not answer me or give me a sign when I ask?. Why was she silent?.

"How do you feel?" Reed voiced startling me. Fia now noticing that I was awake, she rushed over to my side.

"Mistress!, you are awake" she gushed, I smiled weakly at her.

Reed passed me a big black backpack , I tilted my head in confusion.

"There are clothes and shoes in there for you and Fia, the ones you had were destroyed by the fire" he explained, nodded, grateful for his thoughtfulness .

Despite the chaos that had unfolded, he still managed to think ahead and provide for our immediate needs this early in the morning. I reached out and took the backpack from him, feeling a mix of emotions—gratitude, guilt, and confusion.

"Thank you, Reed," I said softly, looking into his eyes and then his hands for a second , they were healed up but there appeared red and I turned my gaze back to his eyes. "For everything." I added.

"You do not have to thank me, anyone would have done the same thing" he responded, then he gave Fia a nylon bag "there is food in there, I don't think you would be able to fix anything up at the moment"

"Thank you very much Reed" Fia smiled brightly

"Not a problem" he answered and walked away while I stared at his retreating figure.

"Mistress, you should go and bathe so you can properly change" she said, that was when I realized that I was wearing a large polo shirt that certainly did not belong to Fia, his scent immediately filled my nostrils and it immediately brought a sense of security around me. "Mistress!, Mistress!" I hear Fia voice call out and I know that I had been engrossed in my thoughts.

"I will bathe" I said standing up, my legs feels wobbly but I have the strength to walk.

"Okay Mistress" she replied and I took the backpack from her and made my way towards a nearby stream.

As I walked, I couldn't help but reflect on the events of the previous night. The power that surged through me, the destruction it caused, and Reed's unwavering dedication to protect me—it was all overwhelming.

I found a secluded spot by the stream, surrounded by tall trees that provided some much-needed shade. The water glistened under the sunlight, enticing me to forget my worries for a moment and immerse myself in its cool embrace.

Carefully, I set the backpack down and began to undress, feeling the weight of the night's events slowly slip away with each piece of clothing I removed. As I stepped into the water, relief washed over me, both physically and mentally. The coolness soothed my burnt skin and eased the soreness in my muscles.

While I bathed, my mind continued to wander, searching for answers to the questions that plagued me. What was the source of this dark realm that invaded my dreams? Why was I the one affected by it, and why did Reed have the power to save me?. I needed answers and I needed them fast.

I got dressed in a black Jean trouser and blue blouse, it was my first time to be in trousers and this kind of clothes, I chose the black sneakers Reed had gotten as well, leaving the blue one for Fia.

I made my way back to the camp site, Fia had already prepared a plate of food for me in the spot where I had slept.

"Thank you" I greeted as I sat back on the grass

"I have never seen you on trousers before mistress, they suit you perfectly well" Fia gushed and I chuckled

"You should get dressed as well" I say "We are leaving here soon"

"Where are we going to Mistress?" She asked, Reed was now standing beside a tree next to where I was seated, his back resting on the trees' back.

"We are going to find answers, there is nothing here for us. I can't not solve this problem on my own yet" I answered

"Oh!, that is fine then. I will go get ready" she responded and walked off leaving I and Reed.

The silence in the air was thick while I munched on the food, His presence beside me was very strong almost overwhelming.

"Would you like to join me?" I asked breaking the silence

"I have already eaten, thank you" he replied still unmoved from his position and the silence continued "I thought I had lost you last night" he was the one to break it this time

"I am fine, thank you for helping me" I responded swiftly, there was anguish in his voice and it hurt my ears to hear it, I did not want him to feel this much anguish and despair because of me.

"I know you are fine now but, what if you had died" he said

I sighed "I cannot die" I replied unintentionally sounding cold.

"You did not see yourself yesterday, you may be immortal but you did not know what I saw yesterday. You-you were on fire and you were screaming and I had no idea what to do" his voice sounded broken. I stopped chewing my food and turned to face him, his eyes were filled with fear just like his voice.

"But I am fine now" I said.

"That is all you have to say Althea. Wh—what if you were in my shoes and it was Fia that was on fire, how would you feel" he growled. "If he I was not there and you really died"

"The world will go on" I said, and I am aware that I sound completely heartless, what did he want me to do, console him?, I do not know how to, I have never had to console anyone not even Fia, Fia might be emotionally but she was stronger that she appeared.

"How can you say that Althea. The world will go on. How would the world f*****g go on. I am in this world, Fia is in this world, do you think we would just move on just like that like nothing ever happened!" He growled

"What do you want me to say, I am drained and I am tired, I am sorry if I ever hurt you but it is the truth, the world would go on, Fia would survive, she will find her mate eventually and she will be happy and this fake bond or something between us will end and you will find your true mate as well!" I screamed back getting up from where I sat.

My eyes pierced angrily into his and his pierced just with the same intensity into mine.

"You have made up your mind that this bond between us is a conspiracy, you refuse to believe that you can ever be with someone and be truly happy"

"Because that is the way it is meant to be" I reasoned desperately, he had to understand me, this entire thing was a false.

"Fine then, I will give you what you so badly want. I, Reed Roman reject Althea—" he did not get to finish that statement as Fia casually stepped in on aware of everything that had just played out

"When do we leave?" She asked, my heart was trying to pound out of my chest and what just happened, Reed was about to reject me, if it worked that means that I would be free but a big part of me did not want it to work, and that part scared me.

"We leave in Fifteen minutes" I said and walked away towards the cliff, leaving Reed and Fia.
