Chapter Twenty From the darkest depths of her mind, rising ever so slowly but unmistakably, the flashing red alert appeared. It started with a pulse of light, like the emergency lamp they had in the lab. Soon, the red flashing would be accompanied by a loudly blaring klaxon, the kind that was impossible to ignore.
