She had heard what he just said. She takes her hand and drapes it round his shoulders, then pulls her head to rest on his arms. She looks pleadingly into his eyes, she thinks Emily also needs help and wants to communicate about this with him.
"Emily is also grown up and is still working under my parents without having anything to do to earn her own money. I know that's what she is paid to do but fifty dollars a month is nothing to me."
Cameron gasps. "She's been paid fifty dollars?" He is surprised to hear this.
