26 AIDEN I got to the gym late and ended up working out alone since Michael had already left for the day. Preoccupied with thoughts of Jed and how he fared with Jamie and Welker kept me from doing much more than cardio and lighter weights. My stomach remained tight long after I finished, and I waited for a text from Jed like he’d promised to send once he and Jamie finished their meeting with Welker. Lunch came and went, and I couldn’t eat a goddamn thing. By two, I paced my apartment floor, my cell in hand, curses in my head while wanting to punch something. “Enough.” I stopped, swiped the screen to life, and shot off a text. Me: Everything okay? Ten more tense-as-f**k minutes passed while chewing the inside of my lip to absolute s**t. Wildcat: No. “What do you mean no?” I growle
