It was during the darkest night of the year when I felt the pain in my back and knew my son was about to be born. Wolf had grown even more territorial over the last days, probably knowing the baby was about to arrive and dealing with the new changes as he only knew...by brooding. I felt him tense by my side when I gasped at the sharp pain that ran through my body.
“Call the midwives,” I whispered to him and Wolf nodded. He never left my side, instead he took me in his arms and found a guard whom he terrorized with directions to follow. When he was done ordering to people to bring warm water, towels and herbs for the pain he returned us to our chambers.
