CHAPTER TEN Back in her cell, Mia stayed in her bed, even after the alarm rang, signaling dinner. Tears fell freely, over her cheeks, soaking the thin mattress. She didn’t bother to hide them, now. What did any of it matter? Her life was over. The doors slid open. Shilah, who’d respectfully stayed quiet after she’d returned from the courtroom, whispered, “You’d better come to dinner.” Mia ignored her.
