You changed me

My neighbour, my friend

3 months later…

It been three months since I got married and everything has been perfect, and my husband has been doing so well in the husband hood. And my honeymoon was so perfect , actually it was the best honeymoon any girl would dream for. I guess I’m the lucky girl after all.

Okay, I’m in my big mansion and my husband is at work. He is a doctor at Lincoln Height urgent care hospital. Ohk let me tell you a bit about how he ended up there.

That hospital was built by his grandfather who is no longer with us, and he left it for his son, who is my wonderful father in law,and guys I love that man. So my husband finished his medicine studies, that where he was able to be enrolled there.

So guys I’m happy, my husband is doctor and I’m 25 year old married to him and also the owner of the biggest company called AECOM. Like who wouldn’t be grateful for this life of mine.

And I just miss my mom, because we have moved to Los Angels like month ago, so I would say I haven’t met any friends yet but I hope on finding one soon.

There was a knock on the door and a lady stood outside. smiling at me.

“Hi, my name is Melinda and I’m your new neighbour”.

“oh hi I’m Ashley. Nice to meet you “. We shook hands.

“Nice to meet you too “. She smiled. “ Oh I bought some cookies , and I guess it is my way of showing you that I’m grateful to be your neighbour “. She gave me the box of cookies.

“Oh thank you “. I smiled back. “ why don’t you come inside, for a cup of coffee or tea , since I’m not busy “.

“ oh thank you “. She gets inside. “Oh wow, you have such a beautiful house “. She looked surprised and amazed.

“Oh it nothing “. Heading to the kitchen with a box of cookies. “ I would say this was my dream house ever since I was young, and it guess it came true “.

“And it sure did”. She kept on looking around the house.

“So would you like some coffee or tea ?”

“Oh coffee would be nice, and please make it strong”.

“Okay no problem “

I am heading back to the dining room and I find Melinda there still looking around.

“Okay here is your strong coffee “. Putting the coffee on the table.

“ thank you “. She sat down and took her coffee. “if I may ask, since you got this beautiful house, what do you do for a living?”

“I’m the owner of the big company called AECOM. And what about you?”

“oh I’m nurse, I know sometimes it can be a very tiring job, but I like it and it has been my dream job too”.

“ oh that a nice job. Actually I used to like being a nurse when growing up, but I guess it wasn’t meant for.” I took a sip of my coffee. But my husband is a doctor”.

“ oh really”. She looked surprised. “You must be really a lucky girl.”

“ Oh why you saying that?” I smiled.

“ Look, you married and have your own company, like that what any person would dream for and I almost forget this beautiful mansion “. She points around the house.

“I know, and I got married like three months ago, but it feels like I have been married for like three years “.

We both laugh.

“ but can’t complain because my husband is the best and guess what….?”

“What?”

“He was my high school sweetheart “

“Oh wow girl you must be really lucky, I so wish that was me”.

“ oh please stop,” gave her a smile. “ so where do you work ?”

“oh at this moment I’m unemployed, because I’m moved here like three weeks ago, but I was working at Chicago hospital, but since I have moved here I haven’t got any luck, to find any hospitals to work for”.

“oh you from Chicago?”

“yeah, that is where I was born. I grew up there with my family and studied there and lucky for me I got the job there too. And also met my ex husband , John”.

“oh you were married before?”

“yes I was, but it didn’t work out I guess because I’m divorced like it been two months”.

“oh I’m sorry to hear that. So what happened?”

I sat down next to her.

“John just changed, he was the perfect husband, what I mean is that I have known him since our childhood and we got married when I was 21 years old and he was 25, he was perfect, but after he lost his job as an auto mechanic, he started drinking and he became abusive toward me, because he thought I was cheating on him and I was going to leave him and find a better man who has the money, but that was not true”. She was in tears.

“How can I leave my husband for money, I will never do that”. She was crying.

I gave her something for her to wipe her tears and I comfort her.

“oh dear, I’m sorry that you had to go through that”. I wipe her tears. “And you did the right thing by leaving him”.

“yeah I know, But now I’m back to square one, no husband, no job”.

“oh please dear don’t worry I will speak with Ben, and I will let you know what he says okay? , but for now stop stressing yourself cause I know you did the right thing “.

She stood up.

“oh no!, Please don’t do that, I will find a job by myself , I’m really grateful for that but it not necessarily, like I can manage, really I can”. She begged me.

“listen girl I insist and besides I’m not asking you, I’m telling you”. I smiled.

“oh ,Thank you so much, you don’t know how much you just made my day”. She hugged me.

“anytime sweet, and besides that what neighbours are for, they help each other”.

“true, but we not just neighbours we friends and best one”.

“yes girl!, that the spirit I’m looking for”.

We both laugh.

“Okay I would like to take my leave now, and thank you for the coffee I guess I will see you around”. She headed to the door.

“anytime, and thanks for the cookies”. I followed her.

“bye”.

“bye”. I close the door.

Oh I can’t believe it. I was saying that I don’t have any friends but I just made one. It so sad that she isn’t working and she was abused by her husband. Like who on earth would do that. I know that Ben wouldn’t do that and I think she did the right thing by leaving him, and finally being able to start her new life here. And I promise I will talk with Ben regarding her problem with finding a job. I know Ben will assist me. But I have to find a good way to ask for this.

Oh a dinner will do, since it been a long time since we had a dinner or let me say a romantic dinner. And I should call him and tell him to come back early today.

“Mmmh, let me think of what should I wear tonight”.

Oh red dress that Ben bought for me on our honeymoon and he loves it and I haven’t wear it since our honeymoon, so today it the day.

And I want to look sexy and I think we should continue to have dinner like this, it shouldn’t matter if we married or maybe I want something from. I should do this frequently and it gonna help in our relationship and in our marriage so yeah, And I should cook his favourite meal which is the Mac and cheese, grilled chicken with rice and some gravy. And our favourite red wine.Okay let go to the kitchen and start with cooking and I will call him after that. Cause I know he is busy now and I don’t wanna disturb him.

Two hours later

I called Ben. I want to let him that I want him to come back home as soon as possible.

“ Hey, handsome “

“Hey, beautiful “

“ baby I need you to come back home as soon as possible today, because I got surprise for you”.

“ Really baby? , don’t worry I will be there as soon as I can”.

“Okay, love you and can’t wait “

“Love you too, bye”.
