Oh, sh*t. It was major news. She was the first lady he was seen eating lunch with, which excited the entire pack in addition to the fact that the alpha was staying. This is a form of gossip. Nothing could be done to avoid it. She lost interest in her burger and fries as she continued to look at them.
Phoenix remarked, "You need to eat something."
I don't feel hungry.
"That can't be allowed. Are you aware that, at the age of 23, you are the only person with that appearance?
Was he prepared to say something hurtful? Cruel?
What is it like?
"Like you're about to trip and fall. It doesn't look good, baby. You must consume some food. Your wolf must grow tired quickly while running, is I right?
What happened to her wasn't his concern. Why even bring this up in conversation? She took a fry out of the fryer and ate it. Although it tasted nice, her tummy growled.
"Look, it's good," Phoenix grabbed his burger and nibbled into it. I just adore coming here. Food is consistently top-notch.
Is that the reason you kept coming through? she questioned.
"About right. While finding delicious meals on the road might be challenging, when you do, you are always grateful for the tiny treats.
As she chewed, she stuffed another fry into her mouth and tried to come up with methods to keep him talking. There was no way she could avoid him if he was going to the home improvement store. Was he intending to do this? Trying to hide his lack of desire for her? She had no one to confide in. She noticed from a brief glance around the restaurant that the two of them were attracting attention.
Do you regret coming by at that time? she inquired.
Phoenix removed his mouthpiece. What are you saying?
"When did you all save us? Do you regret doing it?
"I don't, no. My failure to bike more quickly to get here is my biggest regret. I could have been able to help more individuals. My conscience will be burdened by their deaths always. I'm going to occupy the alpha's home because of this. I should be there, not that piece of sh*t. He needs to be forgotten forever. The only individuals we ought to ever remember are those who perished that day.
She stated, "I was ten years old.
Phoenix took a moment before putting his burger in his mouth. "I know."
You have a math obsession, right?
It appears that I don't give a crap about much math when it comes to you.
That was very difficult for her to accept.
"Tap your burger, and take a bite. You'll be pleasantly pleased by how tasty it is and how animated your wolf becomes.
She wanted to tell him to f**k off, go to hell, and leave her alone. She had many words in mind that she wanted to use. She gritted her teeth and pretended nothing had occurred. She took another mouthful of her burger of her own volition, not because he had instructed her to.
****
All many years ago, what had he said to her that prevented her from eating? Yes, he turned her down and was nasty in doing so. She was freaking eighteen years old. What did she anticipate? He didn't frequently f**k teenagers.
However, five years had been a long time. No one could dispute it. Missing her after being away from home for so long and learning little about her. He had kept his relationship with her a secret.
What he accomplished was unprecedented, and it undoubtedly had a cost. A hefty price for being alone. Both he and his wolf had been furious. He was unable to satisfy his urge or find another woman. f*****g hell, the urge, the dreams, and the craving had grown stronger over time. He only desired Rebecca. Such a young woman. He didn't want to ruin her since she hadn't yet experienced the hardships of life, but he knew he would have to even though she hadn't.
His character was lacking. He had even committed murder to protect her pack. Even if it made him feel horrible to think about it, her parents were correct. Daniel is the kind of man she deserved. He felt sick just thinking about it. Daniel was a decent person.
Nope. He failed to succeed. He had no intention of ever letting Daniel have his woman.
He enjoyed watching her a*s as he followed her back to the home improvement store. Did she even realize that she was teasing and swinging her hips just because she had the energy to? She felt better after eating the burger. He needed to save her from starving to death. Simply put, it was intolerable.
They entered the sizable store after arriving. John waved to them from behind the counter. Ah, Alpha, you located her.
Please, phoenix.
“Phoenix. Will you assist him with his order, Rebecca? He's remodeling the old alpha's home, which appears to have taken a beating over the years.
“Sure. Absolutely fine
Phoenix grinned as he overheard her remark something about not seeing a solid enough reason why he couldn't assist him. Phoenix had requested Rebecca's assistance from John, but Rebecca was unaware of this.
There would undoubtedly be rumors circulating. He couldn't resist grinning. He pondered the repercussions of suggesting to Daniel or certain members of the pack that Rebecca might be his mate. Technically, it wasn't a lie. His partner was her. He questioned whether she shared his enjoyment in being close to her. Did she suddenly want to press her hot body up against him? Without a doubt, he wanted to embrace her, touch her, have s****l relations with her, and f**k her. He wished he could hear her yell his name. request that he f**k her.
That won't take place.
She is just too enraged with you.
He couldn't blame her, though. He now didn't precisely have a good track record.
As they made their way around to the back of the store, they passed by a tiny alcove that contained a desk and a computer.
She slid behind the desk and said, "Take a seat.
She exhaled as she made a mouse click. She spun the screen in his direction as he continued to watch her work and click away.
"Give me a general idea of everything you'll need. I'm assuming this is a large task.
It most certainly is, he replied.
Okay, the order will determine how long you have to wait for supplies. Delivery should take between five and ten days.
No, John answered. Put a message stating the order is for me and that I'm willing to pay for delivery on the order.
Phoenix grinned and welcomed the man.
Rebecca said, "I believe it's best if you come and handle the order. "I have no idea what I'm doing,"
You've been employed here for four years, Rebecca. You are aware of what people want, and our alpha needs your knowledge.
Rebecca clenched her jaw.
The exception to his mate was his charm.
“Certainly.” She started clicking. "I believe it would be great if you let me know what tasks you have to complete."
Phoenix spent the following hour pulling items from the lists he'd written of what he needed in each area. She also gave him recommendations for a plumber and an electrician in the area. She called them while placing their order for supplies and even scheduled a time for them to drop by at his convenience.
Even though she seemed bored, it was fantastic to see her work. After another hour, he had finished his list and was incredibly disappointed.
After sending the order, she picked up the phone once again to get a confirmation. He watched as she laughed at a joke. That someone else would make her laugh irritated him.
That's all ordered, then, she said. The delivery will be made on Wednesday, the day after tomorrow. That was their early option. They advise you to have someone ready to help you unload with that amount. A word of caution: You must keep yourself in check because the providers are not wolves.
"Done already."
Does there need to be anything else? she inquired.
Have dinner with me this evening?
“No.”
Being ignored was something new to him. Women on the road were more than happy to spend a brief period of time with him. even with his facial scars.
“Rebecca?”
The woman stood up. You obviously are accustomed to getting your way, but I'm not going to join you for dinner. Just leave me alone, please. He reached out and grabbed her arm as she turned to leave.
When he touched her, did she not feel anything?
"Won't you stop that? I don't want to start any conversations that turn into gossip. Stop sitting next to me, stopping touching me, and simply stopping.
Rebecca, you're my partner.
And why bother now when you didn't give a f**k about that before?
He had so much to say to her, but John showed up instead. He was forced to let her go and was fairly certain that his wolf whimpered as he did so. They hadn't seen her for so long.
John enquired, "How's everything going?"
Rebecca declared that "everything was fine." Can we have a little conversation?
Phoenix smiled at John as he turned to look at her. He was unaware of Rebecca's activities.
"Er, yeah. I've already shut down for the evening.
Phoenix had no idea that such a long period had gone. He would accompany Rebecca on her journey home, extending their time together.
John followed Rebecca as she seized the lead and moved backward. Phoenix was aware that he shouldn't try to listen, but he couldn't resist.
Rebecca, what's the matter?
"Sir, although I have liked working here, I believe it is time for me to go on. Please accept this as my two-week notice.
“Rebecca? What?”
I know it's time for me to move on, even though it's been a beautiful experience. I'm going to be leaving town soon. I'm already looking for job, and I'm planning to get an apartment, so I can't work for you. It has been enjoyable.
I was unaware that you intended to go.
Phoenix stormed out of the store, furious. He wouldn't let it happen because she wasn't really leaving; instead, she was fleeing. He went outside into the darkness. He c****d his head back and took a warm breath. The pack was going about its daily activities. Nobody would ever know a pack resided here, not even a human.
The moon's full phase has already ended. He waited while running his fingers through his hair because he knew she would soon cross the threshold and leave for work. He was aware of the issue. He was the issue. It previously occurred. The following time he visited one of her workplaces, she was engaged in other tasks. The DIY store had been her last ditch effort to avoid him, but it had just enraged him. She was unable to continue eluding him.
After exiting the shop, Rebecca paused and fixed her gaze above.
Listening in on other people's discussions is impolite.
I didn't think you were a coward,
She turned to face him. "I'm not scaredy-cat. I should go on at this point. Since you do it frequently, I'm sure you have a lot of expertise with that.
