The flight seems to take forever. Shawna falls asleep on the bed in the back of the plane. I am not sure if I could possibly fall asleep on a plane. Even on one of those extremely long flights to some exotic places. All of the 'what if's?' would make me crazy. Yes, I know, I really need to stop with that s**t. Just let go and be optimistic about things. Life hasn't let me be that way though. Too many things have slapped me in the face to just go with the flow and not question everything. Lost in my thoughts, I miss what the captain says at first. My eyes grow wide when he says we will be landing in fifteen minutes. Jumping up, I go to the back and wake Shawna. She groans at me. That bed must be more comfortable than I thought. I start shaking her uncontrollably until she screams at me, then laugh until my stomach hurts. When she finally wakes enough to realize that she is about to see Rex again she pops up and runs to the little bathroom to check on her makeup and hair.
There must be a million butterflies in my stomach as the plane comes to a final halt. The door opens and a set of stairs are rolled up to the opening. Shawna pushes past me and runs down them. Following her, looking down at each step so I don't fall, I run into her back as she stops short.
"What the hell Shawna?" Raising my head to see that there is nothing ahead of us. No car, no Jason, Rex, nothing. Just an emptiness.
"Where is everyone? Are we in the wrong place?" Shawna turns her head almost all the way around looking for someone.
We stand there as the airport attendants come forth and empty our bags from the plane bringing them to us. We are perplexed about what is going on. This isn't a huge airport or anything. It isn't like we are to go inside and walk through like the usual ones. What are we supposed to do? The captain comes down the steps and we move aside for him. "Excuse me, Sir. We are a bit confused about what we are supposed to do now. Do we go somewhere to grab a cab or something?" I stop him and ask.
"Are you Jennifer?" I nod to him, "My apologies, you two are to go around the plane." He grabs his bag, tips his hat, and walks away.
Shawna and I look at one another and race around the plane. Once we get around the nose we see Jason and Rex standing there smiling. Dropping my bags, I run at full speed and jump into his arms smashing my lips into his. I forget how much I miss this man until his face comes into sight. Releasing my lips and pulling me into a tight hug, Jason whispers, "I've missed you so much beautiful." I almost start to cry.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you," I say quietly into his ear.
He kisses me so passionately my panties feel like they have just melted off. We look into each other's eyes and smile. Breaking our intense gaze, we look over to Shawna and Rex and laugh. Shawna has Rex bent over the hood of the car straddling him. "Alright, you two! Let us get to the hotel before the clothes start to be removed." Jason lifts Shawna off of Rex. He struggles hard. She puts up one hell of a fight. She finally got Rex back into her sight, she doesn't want to let him out of it again.
We all climb into the back of the limo. This is new. Someone else is driving. I look to Jason and he smiles, "Rex has been promoted."
Shawna squeals with happiness and starts kissing on him again. "That is wonderful. What is the promotion?" I have to ask.
"He is now second in command. He will be taking some of the load off of me. Since I have started the amount of casinos has doubled. I've realized that I cannot be in two places at once. Rex is my most trusted and he has been with me since day one. He knows the ins and outs of the business. I trust he can go when I cannot and take care of things as I would." Jason explains.
Shawna heard nothing I am sure. Her tongue was so far down Rex's throat, her moans drown out anything Jason had said. "That means you will have more time on your hands?" Again, I have to ask.
Jason sighs, "If only. Besides this one tonight, there are three more openings in the next three weeks in three different cities almost three thousand miles apart." The sadness in his eyes mirrors mine. "Oh love, I want you to be at them all. Even if I have to fly you in the night before to all of them." His hand caresses my cheek.
I lean into his hand, kissing his palm, "I want to be wherever you are." My voice is quiet.
"Then take the job with me and be with me all the time." He tilts his head to meet my eyes.
"Not now, let's not discuss this now. Just enjoy tonight please." I beg this of him.
"Alright, Jennifer. We will just enjoy this night together." Jason kisses my forehead, wraps his arm around me and pulls me into his chest for the rest of our ride to the hotel.
We pull up to this massive building that looks like a modernized castle. It is so cool. There are five stories and it must be three miles or so long. I want to look through the whole place. The limo pulls up through the horseshoe drive and drops us at the door. The driver jumps out and comes around to open the door for us. I step out, "Hello, I am Jennifer." Stretching out my hand to him.
"Good afternoon Miss Jennifer. I am Gus, Mr. Joens's new driver. It is very nice to meet you." He shakes my hand as he helps me up the curb to safety.
Everyone else exits the limo and Gus moves quickly to the trunk to grab all the bags. A bellhop dressed in a cute outfit comes out the front doors with a cart to get the bags for us. The bellhop loads them on the cart and tells Jason he will have them to the room straight away. That makes me giggle for some reason. Just not used to someone else doing these things for me. I lug my bags to the room. Usually exhausted by the time I find the right room. Giggling once again at my thoughts makes everyone look at me. Shrugging my shoulders, I head for the door.
The lobby is exquisite. Soft music is playing. There are fragrant flowers everywhere. Soft lighting illuminates the art on the walls. Looking closer, the art is real and old. Everything that I see in this lobby is so very expensive, some things look priceless. Is it wrong to ask Jason how much he pays for a room here? I am just curious.
Jason takes my hand, bringing my attention back to him. Smiling, he leads me to the elevator. Shawna and Rex follow. She is jabbering on behind us about something. Jason is so mesmerizing right now, everything around him is just a blur. We step into the elevator. Jason tells the elevator attendant to take us to the top floor. I've never been in an elevator with an attendant. This place must cost a fortune. The ride is short. We step off the elevator and there are only two rooms. I am a bit confused. This place is massive. How is the top floor only two rooms?
Jason notices the perplexed look on my face, "You cannot see it from down at street level. At the top of the hotel are two Presidential suites that were added long after the place was built. They are reserved for their most prominent guests. Rex and I stay here every time we are in town. They have grown to like us, so we have the privilege of using these two rooms while in town."
"For free?" Shawna blurts out.
"No, Shawna, nothing is free. They are the nicest rooms in town though." Jason chuckles. Shawna frowns. Rex takes her into his arms and slides his key card into the lock.
Jason does the same to ours and opens the door.
