Kidnapping the Prosecutor

CHAPTER 7

"Sleep for a while, Rheam. I think you needed it badly."

I nodded at Justine. But I am not sleepy. I just looked outside the window. It is still dark outside since it's just 3 in the morning.

Justine and most of the passengers are all asleep. But I can't. That man and the nightmare I had while taking a bath. Is it just a coincidence? My hands started trembling so I calmed down myself. I don't want to disturb Justine and wake him up.

The flight from Manila to Coron, Palawan will take for about 1 hour and 38 minutes.

"Justine, I'll just go to the washroom."

I went up without his answer. Well, how can he answer me, he's asleep. While walking to the washroom, I bumped into something. I was about to fall down when a hand supported my waist from falling down.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was careless. Thank you."

"It's okay."

I stood up properly thanking a man wearing a corporate attire. He maybe is a business man or what so ever. I thanked him again and went straight to the washroom. This day is tiring. After doing things in the washroom, I went back to my seat. To my surprise, there is a bouquet of red roses on my seat and a chocolate. My eyebrow furrowed and looked at Justine. He is still sleeping soundly. Because of guilt of waking him up, I didn't wake him and just toss the flowers and chocolate under our seat.

"From whom it may be?"

Then I remembered my nightmare again. Is it connected to him? It is not just a simple coincidences. The nightmare I had, although he may not interfere with dreams, but invading my thoughts about the case may. Then the taxi driver. and now, the flowers and the chocolate.

"Is he here?"

Involuntarily, my body move on its own and roamed around the seats. There is nothing suspicious about the passengers. It is me, who looks suspicious because of what I am doing.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

"Justine. You're awake."

"Yes, and I was a bit nervous not seeing you beside me."

"I'm sorry."

"What are you doing, let's go back to our seat."

He then drag me back to our seats.

"What the hell are you doing there?"

"I was looking around."

"And? Something happened while I was asleep?"

I nodded.

"What is it?"

"I went to the washroom for a while and then when I came back, there is a bouquet of red roses and chocolate on my seat."

"and?"

"I just thought that the guy behind the two cases we had is here with us right now."

"What? How? I mean, it's not work related anymore."

"Right? I don't know, or maybe I was just overthinking about it. But the flowers and chocolate? Where did it came from? It's no coincidence having someone who knows us here."

He went silent and thinking.

"Right. That is why you are looking at everyone in this plane."

"Yes, I want to make sure if there are someone who knew us here and pulling a prank on me."

"And what you have had?"

"Nothing. I don't know anyone in this plane."

"Is there something you're not telling me?"

He is staring at me with suspicions in his eyes.

"None, of course not."

"Make it sure that you are being honest with me, Rheam. It's you and me in this trip. Besides, chief Kang entrusted you to me for this entire time."

I lowered my head as to avoid his eyes.

"Yes, I am being honest."

"That's good then. We're about to land. Fasten your seatbelt."

I obeyed. Of course, it is still the preliminaries when the craft is landing. after some time, we are now walking out of the plane and entering the airport again to get our luggage.

"At last, the beauty of Coron."

I can see the delightful vibes in his eyes. I smiled. Well, Coron, Palawan is a paradise.

"Let's go. I got a taxi to drop us to our hotel."

I just nodded and follow him. Another taxi is waiting for us and the driver is already assisting Justine putting our luggage inside the car. I stared at the taxi driver, he seems friendly and nothing suspicious in his actions.

"What's the matter, Rheam? You are digging hole in the driver's face."

"Ah, nothing, really."

"You look suspicious, Rheam. Stop doing that."

"Yes, I'm sorry about that."

The driver smiled at me and I just smiled at him back. He maybe not related to that guy. I am just overthinking it again. The ride to our hotel is smooth and silent. after arriving, the driver assisted again on putting off our luggage out of the car.

"You're silent."

"I am jus not in the mood."

"I see. Sit on the lobby for a while, I'll get our room keys and numbers."

I nodded. I think, we will be having a separate room. I look around. It is not the peak season for vacation so the people here are not that many.

"Let's go. I'll be beside your room. If you need anything, you just have to call me immediately."

"Noted, sir Justine."

"I am not kidding, Rheam Khean Gonzales."

I just laughed. He is being serious if he calls me by my full name. We went on our room and do our things and unpacking our things. After doing so, I exhaustedly drop my body on the bed.

"Stop thinking things, Rheam. You just have to enjoy this vacation given to you."

I said to myself. Justine is with me and we are given a chance to enjoy a week of vacation. We must not waste it with things such as overthinking.

"f**k that guy. Whoever he is."

After some time, I heard a knock. I went to the door and see who is knocking and it is Justine.

"Let's go eat?"

"Come in, I am not in the mood to eat right now. Justine, can I take this chance to sleep for a while? I am a bit sleepy."

"Sure thing. I'll go down then. I'll bring you food when I get back."

"Thanks a lot. Don't worry, I'll be out and enjoy things later."

"Make it sure. I'll fetch you later them. It is still early, anyways. I'll bring you food."

"Thank you. Ah, bring my room key with you so you can enter my room."

"Okie. Rest for a while."

I toss him my room key and waved goodbye. He went out and close the door. I went to the veranda. My feeling get overwhelmed when I saw the view on my veranda. Beach, it is an overlooking view to the beach. So peaceful.

"It's beautiful."

The refreshing breeze coming from the beach is so relaxing. The sun is already rising from the East. The view of a clear blue waters surrounding the place.

"It's been a while since I had the chance to have and enjoy this kind of view."

I remember, mom and dad bringing me to some beaches every summer. But when I started working, I missed the chance to be with them every vacation.

"I miss my mom and dad."

I went back inside and lay down on the bed, I look at the digital clock beside the table, and it is 5:30 in the morning. I'll just sleep for a while before Justine comes back.

My sleep was disturbed by a gentle touch on my face. My mind is already awake but I cannot open my eyes yet.

"Rheam, darling."

A familiar voice. Where did I hear it again?

"At last, you are near me, near my sight, near my presence, and soon, you will not be only near me but I will possess you completely."

It is this guy again. I forced myself to open my eyes, and there I saw his body over me again! His face, why can't I see his face? It is a man, does he know that I am also a man?

"Get off me!"

I tried to push him but it is hard. His body feels like a boulder when you are pushing him.

"Soon, darling. I'll have you soon."

"Get off me! Who are you!?"

"Hey, Rheam! Wake up! You're having a nightmare again?"

I immediately sat up when I hear Justine's voice. I am panting, trying to catch my breathe like I was running for miles.

"You slept with an empty stomach, maybe why you are having a nightmare again."

I saw him preparing the food he got for me. I looked at the digital clock, it's 6:58 in the morning.

"You're veranda has a nice view over the beach. It's nice to clear your mind. Stand up already and eat your food. I set it up in the veranda. The view is nice. Although the sun is already up, but still it is fine."

"Sorry for the bother, Justine."

"Nah, it is fine. Let's go."

I stood up brushing off my mind the dream I had. It will just ruin the mood.

"Here, have your breakfast. I do not know what you prefer to eat in breakfast so I just get what I think is suitable to your taste."

I looked at the food he got for me. Pancakes, sunny side eggs, hotdogs, bacon, bread, butter, and coffee. Well, anything is fine, I don't usually eat breakfast.

"It's fine, I can eat anything."

"Thank goodness. Eat then before it gets cold."

"Thanks."

"Oh, one more thing, the hotel staff says that there is a regular cleaning every 6pm just to make sure that the rooms are clean and properly sanitize to avoid any contagious diseases. That's what they told me."

"I see. It's fine."

I said while eating the food he gave me.

"And what do you want to do today?"

"Let's have fun in the beach. Time to be a moreno."

He laughed.

"I am a moreno guy already. It is you who needs to stay under the sun so that your pale skin will be tan. Since when was the last time you experience going to beach? You look pale that anyone can see you will think that you might be a vampire."

"Funny, Justine. Vampires do not exist."

"Hahahaha. I know. It's just a saying."

"Well, let's have fun on the beach. I think, they offer a surf board, and a boat, right?"

"Yup, there are stores downstairs renting surf boards and boats."

"Okay, let's rent surf boards and boats for two. I'll finish my food immediately."

"That's great. I'll get something from my room for a while. I'll be back."

I nodded and looked at the vast ocean while eating. Another dream again. Maybe, uncle and the team is right, I may be now so stress about that man and what he is plotting against me that I need a vacation to clear my mind. I'll erase his unknown existence in my mind for a while.

After some minutes, Justine came back with a lot of sunscreens?

"Are you done eating?"

He asked while walking around my room and putting lots of sunscreen on the table.

"That's a lot, Justine."

"Well, I do not know what you are using so I bought a lot downstairs. Pick one that suits your skin type."

"Wow, you are really ready for it."

"Well, we are in the beach, we will be in the beach and of course, we will spend the daytime in the beach. We will be needing a lot of sunscreen. Forget about getting tan and all, you might get a sunburn if you don't use any of these products."

I cannot helped but chuckled at what he said.

"There you go, you are now laughing without restrictions."

I looked at him. He is smiling genuinely at me like it is his first time seeing me laugh.

"Thank you. I'm done eating. So let's go?"
