I noticed Ivan’s presence was less menacing outdoors.
“It’s important we throw the pumpkins at the same time.” Chester studied Antonia’s book that was propped on his lap. He showed a drawing depicting a pyramid with lots of writing and what I guessed were Chester’s scribbled notes. “We’ll form a triangle—three points for three of the four elements. Ivan, you’ll be south for fire, I’ll be east for air and Declan north for earth.”
“I don’t understand,” Ivan said.
He wasn’t the only one.
“You both have to trust me,” Chester said.
“The only thing I have to do is get the thing off my land!” I said.
