-10- Traitors in the pack

LANDONS P.O.V

"GET MAC!" I scream at Alpha Nico. I know I shouldn't, he's my Alpha but I was too worried about Rory to think about that right now.

His eyes flash for a moment before he composes himself, eyes remaining blue "I'll let that one slide" he says with a low growl "Mac is already on his way." He states before turning to address the warriors.

Looking down at her limp body laying in my arms I feel the tears begin to form, blurring my vision. My only comfort is watching the consistent rise and fall of her stomach as she takes slow breaths.

'At least she's alive. There is nothing more we can do than simply be here for her right now' Knox tries to reason with me.

I know he's talking sense but every part of my human side is screaming that this is my fault, I should have taken her straight home.

"What happened?" Mac's voice draws my attention, as professional as ever although the hurt of seeing his daughter like this was evident in his eyes.

I know he's technically her uncle but you can see the bond between them, it's undeniable that he is as much her dad as Alpha Nico.

"I don't know" I say honestly "One minute she was chanting about Carn and the next she just.. dropped" I croak towards the end.

Rory was strong, even without shifting yet, she was easily one of our top warriors. Seeing her down twice in a matter of months, something was definitely wrong.

"Chanting?!" Mac eyes me closely. "As in repetitive, witch craft, possessed type chanting?!" He questions, unable to hide the fear in his voice.

"Err.. W-well yeah, I guess thats what you could call it?" I didn't like the sound of her being possessed but it would be a reasonable explanation.

Mac's face pales as he takes in the information "We need to move her, now!" He hurries to stand.

I instinctively stand and follow his lead towards the Alpha house with Rory still in my arms.

Without thinking I take her to my room and lay her on my bed, she looks eerily peaceful. Macs quick to work, checking her vitals and looking for any injuries but she had none. She didn't get hit, she literally just dropped.

After the longest thirty minutes of my life, Mac finishes up.

"There's no physical damage but she will need a serious amount of rest" he assures me with a tight smile, before turning towards the Alpha "You, get some answers. I'm sure you know where to look" he glares accusingly at him before leaving.

"What does he mean? Answers to what?" I ask Alpha Nico accusingly

He just glares at me with a clenched jaw before quickly leaving the room.

'Poor Luna' Knox whimpers

'I know bud but Mac said she'll be fine, he knows best' I try to reassure him but he just whimpers more

I still can't believe she's out the way she is, I've never seen her look so vulnerable yet peaceful. Mac must be wrong, there's no way she could be possessed, right? I mean, by who or what? And why? She keeps herself to herself with just a handful of friends, she has no enemies.

Alpha Nico and Mac clearly know more than they're letting on and I intend to make it my own personal mission to find out what. Aurora means far too much to me and Knox to just let this go.

'Hey Knox, can you reach Alma? Or is she out too?' I ask

'Sorta.. she's kind of there but.. kind of not' he responds sounding slightly confused 'almost like she's flashing in and out of consciousness'

'Can she be unconscious?!' It wasnt something I'd thought of before or even heard of, your wolf being unconscious within your mind.

'Errr.... I guess. Talia is out, so it would make sense for Alma to be swaying too. They've not shifted yet so her healing abilities aren't quite as advanced as they would be if they had' he states. I just nod in response, I hadn't thought of that.

Time to get a plan in action and find out what's really going on here.

'Kane..' I cautiously link. Although I've been living under the same roof for a while now, we still weren't as close as we once were.

'Landon..' he mimics me, gaining a chuckle.

'You busy? I wondered if you could come to my room. I need to talk to you and I kind of need someone to keep and eye on your sister for a bit..' I link anxiously. I hope he agrees, he's the only one I can truly trust to protect her.

'Erm.. sure, but.. you're not in your room. Neither is Rory?' He sounds confused and a little annoyed, as if I'd made he get up for nothing

I pause briefly before responding, telling him I'm actually in my room with Rory in my bed again, he's not gonna be happy. 'No, Kane.. my room... at the Alpha house'. A low growl echoed through the link as his only response.

Yep, he's pissed.

It didn't take long for Kane to arrive, although it was clear he didn't want to be there, nor did he want Rory to be.

"Why is it the only times she's been out like this, she's been in your bed?" He asks with a raised brow

"I offered. Either my room or in with a random" I shrug, it wasn't a difficult choice when you think of it like that.

He nods slightly "So, why do you need me to watch her? What's so important that you'd leave my sisters side?" He eyes me curiously

"Once I know for certain, I'll tell you every thing. Just.. right now, I need you to trust me and not ask questions" I'm positive he's going to flip at my response but he just nods and takes a seat in one for the armchairs, flicking the tv on.

I quickly exit the room before he can change his mind and make my way to the cells.

No doubt Alpha Nico had the tattooed man thrown in there for interrogation.

Approaching the door to the underground bunkers where the cells were, I notice only one guard; Tani, manning the door instead of the designated two.

"Why are you stationed here alone?" I ask. As top warrior I out rank him, meaning he must show respect and be honest.

His eyes dart all around before he speaks "I.. erm.. he.. erm.." he stutters so much he can't even form a sentence

"Well?! Spit it out!" I growl at him making him visibly tremble

"H-he just.. erm.. well you see.. he.." he stutters out some more. I can't hold the growl that rumbles through my chest as I grow more and more impatient.

"Tani, I'm going to ask you one more time. Why. Are. You. Stationed. ALONE?!" I emphasise every word getting louder with each until I'm almost shouting at him.

He takes a nervous step back falling into the door behind him, pushing it open with ease and landing on the floor.

My eyes dart from the door to Tani and back again. What on earth was going on? Why was the door unlocked? And open?!

Knox threw himself to the forefront of my mind, all senses on high alert.

I grab Tani by scruff of his neck lifting him off the floor slightly before punching him straight in the face, knocking him unconscious. That should keep him out of the way for a while.

'Alpha. Sorry to disturb you. I've just found Tani stationed alone at the cell bunker doors. We may have a problem here' I quickly link Alpha Nico while I grab a pair of silver handcuffs from the hall just inside the bunker door.

'Exactly what do you mean?' He links back sounding curious

I quickly explain the situation and follow his instructions to stand guard until he and my father arrive. I didn't have to wait long before I heard the sounds of paws coming towards me as I spot my father and Alpha Nico's wolves.

"Have you been inside?" My father worriedly asks

"Only to get cuffs for him" I point towards Tani still unconscious on the floor

My father grabs Tani, throwing him over his shoulder as we slowly step into the cell bunker and chains him to the wall in one of the empty cells.

'Keep close, stay alert' Alpha Nico instructs through the link

As we take slow steps further into the bunker the sounds of a whispered conversation could be heard.

Slowly walking closer we saw the second guard; Myles, inside one of the cells with the door open talking with the large tattooed man.

I'm guessing the putrid smell in the bunker blocked our scents enough for us to go unnoticed.

'What's the plan?' My father ask through the link

'Right now, just listen. The more information we can gather the better' Alpha Nico states.

Knox was going crazy pacing my mind. I knew we should have killed that tattooed son of a b***h.

"And what of the girl?" The tattooed man aggressively asks Myles

"They have her in the Alpha house" Myles quickly answers while bowing his head.

'Why is he submitting to that creep?' I ask through the link, this was getting weird

'It's like you read my mind young Landon' Alpha Nico responds

"Keep track of her progress, let me know when she awakes" the tattooed man instructs

"Yes Master Caleb" Myles bows once more before turning to leave

"Oh and Myles.. Send a message to my father. Get him to send more men, soon!" He laughs silent and sadistically

"Of course" Myles whispers back before hurrying out of the cell closing the door behind him.

'Step back, let him pass. We'll get him from behind' Alpha Nico commands as he's pulls a silver blade from his belt

He stealthily followed behind Myles, step by step completely in sync, until Myles turns the corner and suddenly stops.

Alpha Nico takes the opportunity and pushes the blade with ease into Myles back, directly where his heart sits.

"How does it feel Myles? To be stabbed in the back?" Alpha Nico whispers into his ears as he pushes the blade deeper, twisting as he does until Myles eyes roll into the back of his head and body drops to the floor with a light thud.

Alpha Nico is quick to grab Myles' body from the floor, carrying it to Caleb's cell.

"Seems your little message will go undelivered" Alpha Nico laughs

Caleb looks from Myles' lifeless body to each of us before his eyes fall on the Alpha.

"You think that pathetic mutt is my only messenger? Don't be a fool Uncle" Caleb laughs out

Alpha Nicos eyes instantly begin flashing, blue to black, Cyrus taking over as he grabs Caleb by the throat, pinning him to the wall.

"You may share the blood of our heavenly Luna but I am not your uncle, boy!" Cyrus growls through gritted teeth

He laughs, Caleb actually laughs! Full on throws his head back dramatic sadistic laughter.

Knox suddenly coming to the forefront of my mind and I'm sure one of my own eyes would reflect his presence in this moment.

"You can't change it, so why deny it?" Caleb laughs out "My father will send for me and I'd suggest being prepared for when he does"

Cyrus grips his throat a little tighter causing Caleb to whimper slightly "What does daddy want then boy? Surely there's a reason for all this childishness"

A malicious grin creeps onto Calebs face as his eyes darken, making him look murderously insane as he tilts his head to the side looking the Alpha in the eyes.

"Your dear princess, of course" Caleb informs us in a calm tone.

Too calm for the situation he was currently in, something felt off.

"Princess?" My father raises a brow at him

"Oh, it really is a pack secret if the big bad Beta doesn't even know" Caleb chuckles "Your dear sweet princess, future Luna, Talia"

He eyes me waiting for a reaction like he'd just dropped the biggest gossip bomb going.

I couldn't hold the cocky grin that appeared on my face, he had no idea of who knew what within our pack to be so smug.

"Something funny kid?" He suddenly asks

'Go ahead young Landon' Alpha Nico links, giving me the permission I need as he lets go of Caleb's throat and takes a step back.

"Very" I laugh taking a step towards him

"The mere fact you think you've just divulge some hidden secret for a start. Hilarious!" I laugh once more slapping my thigh for dramatic effect

The shock on his face was beyond satisfying.

"You see, there are no secrets within our pack" I take another step towards him "Your father, will never get what he wants" I laugh in his face

He growls viciously snapping his face towards mine, the chains stopping him just millimetres away as his warm breaths grazes my cheek.

I laugh at his efforts, knowing full well it was making him angrier by the second.

'End him' Alpha Nico orders through the link.

Without a moments hesitation I grab Caleb by the throat, my hand shifting into its wolf form as my claws grip tight before ripping his windpipe out in one clean swoop.

The unmistakable smell of blood filling the room.

Alpha Nico pats me on the back while laughing with my father at the angle Calebs body had dropped in. They were sadistic bastards at times but being the Alpha and Beta they had to be ruthless.

I turn to them shaking my head slightly "Now that's dealt with, would one of you care to explain what's really going on?" I ask with a raised brow

They look at each other and back to me before Alpha Nico let's out a sigh.

"Right now, no. Meet me in my office in an hour and I will answer whatever questions you have" Alpha Nico says

"But you are not to tell anyone of what you will learn, especially not Mac and Cece's boys. They may not be her blood brothers but they will do everything they can to protect her, the less they know right now, the better" he eyes me cautiously

I simply nod in response before leaving, the smell was really beginning to make my eyes burn.

'Why so many secrets with these guys?' Knox questions as I feel him growing restless

'I wish I knew, let's hope he gives us some answers soon. Fancy a run till then?' I knew letting him stretch his legs a bit would help settle his mind.

'Best thing you've said all day!' He smirks while stretching in my mind

I decided to go to the woods behind the Alpha house, it was close enough to Rory if she woke up but spread out and linked to most of the town so Knox could really let loose.

Running through the woods would normally calm Knox and I, but something felt different, almost as if I was being watched.

Rather than our usual run for fun, it became a perimeter check. Rory was out of action and Carn and his men knew it, I couldn't risk anyone sneaking by and harming her in any way.

'How is she?' I quickly link Kane, trying to keep my tone normal

'Yeah hi Kane, how are you? Yeah great thanks Landon, You?' He sarcastically links back

I can't help but laugh at his childishness, I really have missed him these passed few year.

'Ok ok, sorry!' I sarcastically respond still laughing 'how are you both? That better?'

'Aw so kind of you to think of me Donny' he sarcastically coos back using the nickname he'd given me when we were kids. 'I'm doing just fine thanks, absolutely smashing your high scores on all your games' he laughs

'What?! No f*****g way Kane put the controller down and walk away man!' I link trying to seem as serious as possible.

'But seriously, how is she?' I ask with a more caring tone

'No can do Donny boy, no can do! And our little princess is living up to her name, old sleeping beauty over there, drooling all over your pillows like a dribbling puppy' he laughs back

'Not cool!' I shake my head at him before cutting the link and heading back to the Alpha house.

It was half an excuse to kick Kane's arse and half just to see Rory, even if she was a dribbly mess.

The whole run back to the house Knox felt uncomfortable. The feeling of someone watching us hadn't gone away, even with everything seeming clear there was definitely a something weird going on.

Walking into my room I can't help the smile forming on my face at the sight of Aurora on my bed. She may have been a little dribbly but she looked just as beautiful as ever.

"Hey lover boy. You know you're not fooling anyone, right?" Kane chuckles, whilst shooting zombies

I turn and make my way over to the sofa, grabbing a controller to join the game.

"Fooling anyone about what?" I ask slightly confused "and what level are you on?" I ask staring at the screen, I'd never reached this level before but I'd never admit that to Kane.

He abruptly pauses the game and turns to me before looking at Rory and back to me.

"You're in love with her, derr!" He states sarcastically

"And honestly I have no idea Donny boy, but if you're impressed by this, then maybe just don't play your formula one game for a while" he laughs while unpausing the game.

I just stare at him shocked.

"So not only have you ruined all my games but now you're trying to tell me how I feel?" I raise a brow at him.

"Kane, we're not dumb teens anymore so I'm not gonna lie to you. I like her, I really do.. but I don't love her, how can I? She can't stand me. She only puts up with me cause the Alpha ordered me to guard her, if it wasn't for that she wouldn't even be in the same room as me" I sigh, trying my best not to show my hurt

I couldn't just tell him that I love her and no matter how much I do, she will never feel the same for me. I can hope and prey that she might be my mate but I can't help but fear her rejection if she is.

"Bro seriously, if she hated you the way you think she does, you'd be the one out cold in that bed" Kane laughs as he shoots the final zombie and completes the level.

I let out a small chuckle "yeah I guess thats true"

I place the controller back on the table and head out of the room towards Alpha Nico's office.

Let's hope he has some answers.
