Master Talon

MARCELLA “No! You cannot do this to me!” I thundered. I didn’t know what deal they had, and I really did not care. I wouldn’t allow myself to be treated like a piece of furniture. “If you had not disobeyed, you would....” “How long would you continue to say this? All I did was risk my life against someone I believed was trying to cause havoc to the pack and what do I get in return? Torture? Pain? Hatred? Rejection? I understand that you hate the fact that we are mates, and you do not want to have anything to do with me. I understand that. I understand you want me to leave your pack because you do not want me to be attached to you and I accept it but what I will not accept is you treating me like a piece of furniture. I am not going anywhere with that man.” I crossed my hands and reached for the door. “Fluxx...” He started and l halted. “Your father.... you know.... he was just as stubborn as you are. He would insist on doing things his way despite instructions, despite the danger he could face. That day... I warned him about going for that battle. I told him it would cost a lot, but he was adamant. He refused to listen to me and.....” He sniffled and turned to stare at me. “Thane is dangerous. I know you are upset and want to get him out of the way, but it is best you hearken to him. You cannot run away from him. He will find you wherever you go, and it will end up in a terrible way. Please.... do not do anything stupid. Do not make matters complicated.” “Bullshit. You can hide under the cowardice of him being stronger. You fear him, I don’t. He was able to hit me because I wasn’t prepared, but not anymore. I cannot stand back and let him dictate my life. As for your pack.... I will leave.” “Marcella, you....” He tried to speak, but I wasn’t going to stand back and listen to whatever b*llshit he had to say. The last thing I wanted to do at that point was to allow my life to be dictated or ruled. I walked back to my quarters, a gazillion thoughts on how to escape that night flooding my senses. Thankfully, Romani was the only one present in the room. It seemed like others had gone for lunch. She was sitting on her bed, arranging her clothes but the moment she sighted me, she dropped them and hurried to meet me. “Thank goodness you are fine. Alex was here a few minutes ago to ask if you had been released. I feared that man wouldn’t let you go. How did it go? Did he forgive you?” She questioned; her eyes wide with hope. I rolled my eyes and sank into my own bed, feeling a mix of frustration and anger. “He didn’t” I replied flatly. A gasp escaped from her lips. “The worst part is, he asked Master Talon to give me to him, for heaven knows what, and that weakling of a man agreed without battling an eyelid. He didn’t think of me, not even for a second. “I shook my head. “So... when is he leaving? When are you leaving with him?” “Don’t be ridiculous,” I scoffed. “I am not going anywhere with that man. I would rather die than go with him. I am going to escape tonight.” “But isn’t that dangerous? You know this man and what he can do. I am certain if you go with him, no harm will come to you, but if you try to escape, and he finds you, you will be dead in a minute.” “He cannot do anything. Also, he will never find me.” I responded. I could see the worry in her eyes, but I assured her that all was fine and I would be okay. I went on to inform her of my plans and where I would hide when it was nighttime. That way, she could help me distract the guards at the gate and raise a false alarm that I was missing. When the guards leave the gate, then I could escape. “Promise me that you will help me.” I held her hands before she walked out of the room and even though she was quite scared and worried, she nodded. “I am banking on you. Please, do not let me down.” I pleaded and she nodded. Time seemed to be the slowest that day as it went by slowly. I couldn’t wait to leave. I pretended to be okay with Master Talon so no one would suspect anything. After everyone had gone for dinner that night, my plan started. “I promise to pay you back when we meet again. The same goes for Alex. I will miss you both, but I promise to be back when things are good.” I assured Romani, and she nodded before I went into my hiding place. Seconds rolled into minutes, yet I did not get the alarm. Suddenly, she arrived where I was hiding. I was about to ask her why she had not sounded the alarm when, suddenly, Thane and Master Talon walked in. I was about to yell at her to hide but then, reality dawned on me. “I... I am sorry. I could not take the risk. I can not let you die. I had to do this.” She spoke. I staggered backward. Never did I imagine this level of betrayal from her. We have been friends for ages and...this is how she pays me back? “How bold of you? How defiant! Your stubbornness is admirable. I guess I really underestimated you.” Thane chuckled before turning to my master. “Unfortunately, we have to leave tonight.” He waved at Master Talon who... still did not utter a word. It was a tight spot. There was no way I could escape. Still, I tried to run past him. Needless to say, it failed. “I am sorry.... I could not bear it. I knew if he caught you, you would die and I cannot bear to see you die.” “Well, you killed me by giving me to him. I will never forgive you for this.” I spat before Thane held me like a child, pulling me along with him. My heart sank as we approached the gates of our pack together. My heart shattered as I looked back at my friends and companion. I guess Master Talon could not dare to look at me after betraying me, as he wasn’t there with the others. I could see the sadness in Alex and Romani’s eyes but I did not feel sorry for Romani. She caused this. Now, I had to face this new life of mine. “Don’t you try to do anything stupid.” Thane threatened before placing me on his horse and sitting right behind me. My hands were tied and there was nothing I could do. I however, began to think of what to do. We had barely gone out of the pack gates when I faintly began to hear my voice, and it got louder with each minute. I turned to look at who it was, and it turned out to be Romani. “Cella, Master Talon..... Master Talon......” She managed to catch her breath. What the hell was she saying? I suddenly felt a cold shiver run down my spine. “Mate.” I growled. It took only a minute for me to realize I had muttered mate, not because Romani had mentioned Master Talon’s name but because....... No. That was impossible!
