Beware: I tried not to reveal anything important from the novels here that would spoil your first reading of the material, but you might find some spoilers anyway. I recommend you read the books first, and then come back here.
I enjoyed writing the Whackadoodle Times books more than anything else I’ve ever written. Brooke McMurphy is so real, true, funny, and tragic. I love her outrageous truth-telling. Somedays as I wrote, I was laughing and crying almost at the same time.
Most of Brooke’s disasters—besides the environmental ones—are caused by her own behavior. To be fair to her, she is also surrounded by a motley crew who make their own stunningly bad decisions that affect her life.
