Chapter one
2 years later
Cancun, Mexico
May,15th 2025
“ Ah Señorita, where are you going?!” A tan man with dark black hair and a floral shirt that was opened enough to see black and gray chest hair said. “I left you 40,000 dollars Juan in my room under my bed.
If anyone ever comes to find a woman with the name of Romilda, you will keep quiet as my friend and as someone I paid.” I said to the man and he nodded. “You have my word where do you plan on going, Rose,” he said and I smiled, casting one more glance at myself in the mirror. My dark black hair was now a light platinum blond and it only touched my shoulders in place of my brown eyes were light blue contacts.
“To where it all started”
2 years had passed since the heist that ruined my life and my friends. John had made efforts to find me but he was never skilled in that area. Everyone believed I had died as well. I was a ghost and no one knew I was alive and it needed to be this way. My friends were locked away in the most secure prisons but no prison would stop me from getting to them but I needed a team to do so which is why I went back… To New York City, And that’s exactly what I did. New York was my home... My friend’s home and there was no way I would leave it behind forever and get my friends back. I needed help... I needed a team.
Present Day
New York City
Brownstone Cafe
To find a team again was a challenge, to say the least, I would have to find perfect people for the job and no one was perfect enough and I had to keep a low profile. Even with my new name, new look, new credentials I was still Romilda Aife, and John was still looking for me. Freddy Simons,21 years old also known as “The coder” seemed smart enough though, of course, he needed practice and no face he would be good for this job. But the problem was that he raised too many questions. A young boy who worked in a cafe and attended a very popular college would be far too suspicious of what I needed him to do. Rachel Jenkins another potential tech expert and she was a mom with 3 kids, a husband and a van... Which was surprisingly enough just what fit the description.
Rachel Jenkins
New York City
Youths Soccer field
The woman was not too shabby as I took a look at her records and what she did which was hard. It proved to be a hard puzzle but of course, she had her flaws that could be fixed and I always enjoyed a challenge… well some within reason. “Jimmy Honey you got this!” a woman yelled being the loudest one in the crowd of overhappy PA parents, some of who even looked like the walking dead as if they stayed up all night prepping for their kid’s soccer game
“That’s my son right there!” the woman whispered to the man next to her who looked as if he wanted to pass out. Rachel was the screaming woman and she looked like a soccer mom that’s for sure. She was a plus-size woman with dark brown hair that was tied in a ponytail to the back and she had been wearing a light green jumpsuit with a gray sweatshirt that resided under her jacket.
The story of Rachel was rather interesting she was a coder and hacker back in her fun days and when she had wanted to make money but unfortunately she was caught and got off on parole to which she went to have four kids and marry but I know that didn’t stop her cravings because still, she didn’t stop fully hacking it was her side job and just like the time she got caught but this time not by the police just by me. The little league’s soccer game went on for a few more hours until people started to disperse and Rachel took her children to the car and I followed. “Rachel Jenkins” I said and the woman turned around from strapping her sticky child in the seat. “Can I help you?”She said and I could feel the fear in her voice.
“We should talk, you have time for coffee,” I said and she moved towards her car door. “I wasn’t asking so get in, I'll drive,” I said, holding up her keys that I had snagged from her pocket. “Okay…” the woman managed to spit out as she shut the van door and got into the passenger side. “How do you know where I live?” she asked and I smiled glancing at her through the shades of my glasses. “I know a lot about you and we are going to help each other out,” I said and she clutched the seatbelt. I wasn’t one for scaring people but over time it had just become a thing of mine and maybe it was the revenge that sunk into my bones or the fact that I could do a lot of things people didn’t think I could.
“You have a nice home Rachel,” I said as we stepped into the threshold and I looked around. “Is the hacking how you got it or is it the husband?” I said and she froze as she covered her kids’ ears. “Who the hell are you,” she said and I shrugged. “Nobody really, which makes me scary right? Let’s carry on, how about you go put your kids away and I’ll get started on that coffee... Don’t try to call the cops you’ll be arrested before me“ I said as I walked into the kitchen. It only took the woman a few minutes before she scurried into the kitchen. "Romilda Aife nice to meet you, Rachel,” I said and she sat down in the chair staring at her cup of coffee as if it was poison.
“Why are you here?” she asked and I shrugged taking a sip of the hot liquid. “I need your skills and you need my help,” I said and she finally picked up the cup of coffee clutching it with dear life. “I don’t do that anymore” she spat out and I nodded while taking a seat. “Please don’t lie to me I’m very good at what I do and I would have the police here...and they won’t be looking for me” I whispered as I took one more long sip of the dark liquid before setting it down.
“You do small things. To keep the cravings at bay right? Your fingers itch and your natural instinct is to pull out that old laptop you had when you first started and take a little and then take a little more and then you get greedy.. You got greedy Rachel”
“It's how I found you,” I said and her eyes grew wide before her brows raised and she turned a light shade of red. “You need to get the hell out of my house,” she said and I laughed nodding. “Okay Rachel I’ll leave but let me tell you this,” I said standing up to stare at her. “Look up The Four cases.. I need your help Rachel and I don’t do this often... When you want to fully scratch that itch call me here's my info Rach” I said before moving to walk out the door though just as I was about to leave the door began opening and Rachel's shiny suit husband stepped inside and like the pig of a man he was he stared at me like I was a diamond in a pile of sand. “I was just leaving your wife wonderful by the way,” I said as I moved past him and walked out the door.
2 days later
And Two exact days later I got a call from Ms.Jenkins herself.
“I’m in,” she said and a smile crept over my face.
“I’ll find you when you are officially needed, for the time being, Rachel stay low no more hacking until I call for you, You need a month off for this project make sure you have the time to get away from your kids and husband,” I said and with the silence, if I dropped a pin you would hear it ring.
“I can’t go away for a month,” she said and I sighed.
“Yes you can and you're not leaving anywhere just yet.. I’ll send you the details along with your new phone,“ I said and with that, I hung up. I had only gotten one person and four more to go. I needed to see my friends and take down that son of b***h who betrayed us which was the only reason I kept going and… Because I had an itch and that itch only grew just like Rachel.
