Chapter 12

Jamie POV

“Please, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to lose it. Come on. Please baby. Let me in.” I could hear her turn on the shower, I knew that she wasn’t coming out anytime soon. I paced in her room for a while, deciding to leave and get some work on this upcoming war done. I stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind me, I made my way into the kitchen intending to go to my office when I noticed everyone was staring at me.. not at me, they were looking at my mark from my new mate.

“ah, go back to what you were doing and stop starring at me” I commanded. They all quickly turned away from me. I knew I shouldn’t have snapped but I was pissed off that she shut me out. I thought we were making good progress and getting to know each other. With a huff, I walked out, not feeling very hungry and made my way into my office. Just as I sat down, Brett (my beta) and Paul (my third) sundered in and take their chairs.

“hey man, heard you got a fresh bite going on” Brett crammed his neck trying to get a better look at my mates handy work.

“what’s it to you?” I hissed back. He smirked at me, Paul letting a small laugh escape his lips, quickly regained his composure seeing the look on my face.

“come on then, tell us about her. Is she good looking?” he teased me. My blood was boiling over. Paul could see what was going to happen, him having his own mate, knew how I would feel about the way brett was talking about mine. “she must be if you two already mated and marked each other” he began laughing. I started to growl at Brett causing Paul to come to my side and rest his hands on my shoulder.

“Easy Alpha. He doesn’t know the connection we have with our mates” he shot a death glare at Brett, pulling him out of his hysteric laughter. “wait for the day when he gets his mate and his turn to be teased.” Paul released my shoulders and I found myself calmer at his words. I took in a deep breath and we began to discuss what we could do about this threat of war.

Soon after we had come up with a response to Craigs demands and put into place a training schedule  for my pack. I started to feel uneasy, like I was being watched. I turned to look out the window, but there was nothing there. Fear gripped me and my heart started to race.

‘Jamie, im in the grounds near the training yard… I feel like im being followed’ s**t…

‘walk towards the house! Don’t stop moving and don’t look back. We are coming’

“Ash is in trouble. She is on the other side of the grounds.. move” I shouted. We all ran from the room into the yard. I picked up her scent and followed it. I heard her scream before I could see her, I ran faster towards her, rounding the corner of the pack house. I could see her laying on the ground, two wolfs hovering over her. I began to run for her, my Beta and third shifting, I called out her name but she didnt respond. The two wolfs ran back towards the tree line, as I got closer to Ash I could see the pool of blood around her body. I bent down to pick her up, gently I wrapped her body around my chest and picked up a steady pace to the clinic.

‘Kelly, I need you at the clinic now… its Ashley,’ I whimpered.

‘on my way, be there in 60 seconds’ she replied. We were at the clinic just after Kelly. She was that efficient that she had already cleared a space to treat Ash. When I laid her on the bed I made sure to leave her back exposed. A growl ripped from my chest as the male doctor came over and put his hands on Ash to check her wound.

“GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY f*****g MATE” my wolf about to pounce on this asshole.

“If you cant control your self of that bloody wolf of yours, then you need to leave. I will treat her on my own but you cant be here.” Kelly was strong and didn’t back down to my glare.

“come on man, calm yourself and be with her” Brett grabbed my shoulder “yeah, brett and I will hunt down these bastards and bring them to you. Stay with her. Hold her and comfort her.” Paul placed his hand on my other shoulder. I nodded and sent them off. I needed to be here for Ash. So I sat and I waited, waited and waited.
