Chapter 11

"wake up sweet heart." I could hear a voice call to me.

"come on little flower, we need to get you all cleaned up." my heart beat quickened, I must be dreaming. no.. not dreaming, having a nightmare. I could see Craig so clear, stalking towards me, but this time he wasn't hissing at me, he.. he was smiling at me. trying to convince me to get out of bed. Craig reached for me and I screamed I swung at him, fist closed and connected with his jaw.

"ahh, Ashley, baby, wake up! your having a nightmare." my eyes burst open, my heart still racing. I sat up grabbing my knees and pulling them to my chest. I took in my surroundings noticing that Jamie was standing at the side of the bed rubbing his jaw.

"Ashley, im going to sit with you." his eyes looked sad, scared and curious all in one. "baby, can you tell me what you were dreaming about?" he asked as he put his arm around my shoulder,

"I... it was Craig. He was standing at the side of the bed.” I whispered. I looked up at Jamie and gasped. “oh, no. im so sorry. I hit you” I was devastated, I struck my mate. All of a sudden I was feeling amused. It wasn’t until I saw the smirk across his face that I remembered what we did. The mark on my neck lets me feel more connected to him and he to me than before. Our emotions were mixing with each other. It explained Jamie’s expression when I woke up. He knew what I was feeling.

“yeah, you have a mighty fine swing on you there. But im tougher than you give me credit for. I will be just fine.” He bowed his head and kissed my hair.

“I’m hungry, what time is it?” I tried to find a clock when he pulled me to his lap. “its 8 in the moring, you fell asleep last night and I didn’t have the heart to wake you, so I let you sleep. I had to go through the night and get some things sorted out and announce you to my pack as our new Luna. When I got back you were having that nightmare” I could feel him growling low in his chest. I turned to face him and gave him a sweet kiss on his check.

“what work did you need to get done? Maybe I could help you?” I wanted to help him, I didn’t want to leave him burdened with all of the work load if I could do my bit to easy it.

“ah, well,” he took a breath and took me from his lap, seating me in front of him. “my pack needs to prepare for a war.” I watched his face shift from loving to worried in a heart beat.

“war? What war?” like I didn’t know the answer. Like my dream wasn’t enough of a sign. I needed clarification from him to be sure.

“from your old pack. Alpha Craig has declared war on my pack for taking you from him and forcing you to be my Luna. I tried to explain that we were mates and this was the will of the moon goddess, he just wouldn’t listen. He told me if I didn’t return you that he would be forced to attack my pack and take you back.” He ran his hands through his hair. I could tell that he was distressed and I wanted to sooth him. What could I do? I had no power here…

“what can I do? How can I help you?” I wanted to reach for him, this was all so new to me.

“there is nothing you can do. We have started to prepare for war. There is no way I would ever give you back to that disgusting worm. You are my mate and I will protect you with my life. My pack will fight till the last warrior to protect their Luna. You will be safe, never doubt that I would do everything I could to keep you safe.” He was growling and shaking. His eyes were black, not from lust, this was anger. Anger at me? Anger at Craig?

“ok…. I.. I am going to have a shower and get ready for training, after we eat of course.” I declared as I rose from the bed. His eyes were still black, now they were wide with surprise.

“you will not be training! You will not be fighting!” he roared at me. I don’t think he meant to, but he scared me. I jolted back from him and began to shake. He shook his head to try and regain his control over his emotions. This was just the chance I needed, I quickly moved towards the bathroom and locked the door behind me. I heard his gasp, he called out for me.

“please, im sorry. I didn’t mean to lose it. Come on. Please baby. Let me in.” I ignored him and turned on the shower. And blissfully took my time in the heat of the water. I realised that I actually had not left this room since I arrive and things moved really fast with Jamie.. I don’t really know him at all.

‘maybe not little pup, but he is your mate. Give it time. You will find he is perfect for you and that you are perfect for him too.’

Ah, why do you only but in when it suits you and never offer anything I have not already thought of I hissed back at her.’

I stepped out of the shower and took my time to dry my hair and body. I opened the door and searched the room but Jamie wasn’t there. I went into the closet picking out some leggings and a white frilled shirt that had yellow roses on it, took out a pair of flats and went to make my way outside.

I made it out the door, down the hallway into the kitchen. As soon as I entered everyone who was there stopped. They stopped talking, eating and even play fighting, just to stare at me.

“good morning” I said, quite firmly and not timidly at all. Their reply took me back a little. “good morning Luna” they all said in unison. I walked over to the counter to find Kelly sitting there on her own. “may I sit with you?” her eyes shot up to mine, like she was there the whole time but also far away. “of course Ash, take a seat and grab some food… you must be starving after your workout” she winked at me. I blushed a little and turned to face a full plate of food. “how have you been Kel? I feel like its been an age since I have seen you” I whispered, feeling slightly embarrassed that she knows what I have been doing.

“I have been getting familiar with my pack again, going to the clinic and just… oh my goddess!” she just about screamed at me.

“what? Do I have something on my face? Get it off!” I squealed back at her. Of course by this stage we had the whole house looking at us. She leaned in closer to me and whispered.

“he marked you.. that was very fast.” She sounded kind of shocked. Well to be honest so was I at everything that has happened in the last few days. “yeah, everything has moved so fast” I sighed and turned back to face my food. “I was going to go for a walk through the grounds.. do you think it will be ok?” she placed her hand on my shoulder “you are the Luna of the pack now, you can do whatever you want to” I saw her face light up from the corner of my eye and felt better knowing that we would be ok.

After I had finished eating I said my good byes and headed into the grounds to take my walk and think about all the things that have happened to me recently. That’s when I heard the growel. I was close to the tree line but not far from the pack house either. I kept walking thinking it may have been in my imagination. There it was again. This time I was sure it was right in front of me in the trees. I started to panic a little. I backed away from the tree line towards the house.

‘Jamie, im in the grounds near the training yard… I feel like im being followed’ I mind linked him.

‘walk towards the house! Don’t stop moving and don’t look back. We are coming’

As soon as he broke the link I felt a searing pain across my back and dropped to the ground. I rolled over to see a large brown and black wolf with red eyes standing over me. The brown wolf grabbed at my leg and started to drag me to the trees. I screamed and startled them both as he released me. The pain in my back was getting worse and i was staring to see black spots cloud my vision. The brown wolf bowed his head to pick me up again. His head moved from my leg and he looked behind me.

“ASHLEY!” I could hear his voice but I couldn’t respond. I darkness winning and taking over my body.
