“That's impossible!” August's dangerous eyes were locked on Ria, filled with raw desire like an uncontrollable beast. In a commanding tone, he yelled, "Come here! You're my luna!"
Ria felt as if she were being watched by a venomous snake. She hid behind Nicholas, shivering in fear. She did not even dare to look at August, much less meet his eyes. Nicholas covered her behind him like a large mountain, keeping her safe.
Ria's actions stoked August's rage. Damn it, that was his Luna! How could she go against his orders and hide behind his enemy?!
His chest was heaving hard from anger, clearly humiliated by what she did. He swore that if he ever got his hands on her, then he would definitely make her pay the price for betraying him, even if she was his fated Luna.
The atmosphere felt extremely heavy with the two of them staring each other down, but neither party would give in and show weakness to the other. Clenching his fists, Nicholas snarled in provocation. "Wolf King August! I, Nicholas, extend a challenge to you with the Moon Goddess as my witness. Let us fight to the death!"
Nicholas knew that the only way to remove any possibility of danger toward his Luna was to deal with the problem at the root, which happened to be August. If he could kill him, then he could avoid the tragedy in Ria's story before it even happened. Right now, Nicholas no longer doubted her. He believed every word she told him.
A crack of thunder rang through the entire town, waking all of its residents.
"I accept!" August bared his fangs. "I've been waiting for the chance to kill you, you son of a b***h! You're going to die here today, and she will become my new toy. Ah, how could I forget? Your little sister is a real looker too, isn't she?"
"Shut your damn mouth! Personal fights are prohibited in college territory. Move your ass. We're going to the woods!" As soon as he finished speaking, his body swelled in size, ripping his clothes apart as his characteristic silver fur grew out of his body. In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a large silver wolf. He snarled at August then turned to Ria. "We meet again. My name is Adam. Nicholas and I will fight for your sake, so just stay at home and wait for us to return. Don't go anywhere."
Ria gently stroked his head, but she could not stop her tears from falling. "If you die, I’ll end my life, too."
The silver wolf nodded and walked out the door, stopping at the empty street as he turned back to stare at August with a cold gaze.
August looked at the now-unprotected Ria. "It'd be a shame for you to die, baby. I'll kill your man, then I'm going to become your king and ruler. For now… why don't you take a nice, long nap?"
Ria's face paled. Before she could react, August disappeared from her sight, and a completely different scent from Nicholas's entered her nose. Ria had a bad premonition about what was going to happen, but she was too late. A moment later, she felt pain at the back of her neck and toppled over.
Before losing consciousness, Ria vaguely saw August transform into a large black wolf, leaping out of the house and into the raging storm outside.
Two great wolves ran quickly through the rain, heading far away from the town as thunder continued rumbling through the air. The heavy rain swept across the whole area as if heralding the bloody fight that was about to kick off between the two alphas…
As for the unconscious Ria, her fate once again turned toward the unknown…
This time, nobody knew how the story would end.
The grudge between August and Nicholas was no secret among the residents of Werewolf Town. Even their fight in the college was retold in many different versions as an accompaniment to a cup of coffee among the townspeople. Even though they were neighbors, the college decided to schedule their classes apart, so the two of them rarely, if ever, had to show up in front of each other.
Even the raging storm could not drown out their howls. Their fight came as a shock to everyone. Even the college's administrators were perplexed at their sudden duel. The rain covered their tracks, so nobody had any idea where they went, but they all knew that in a battle to the death and only one would return alive.
It did not take long for Angelina to hear the news, and she was just as shocked as anyone, and although she believed in her brother's strength, he was still fighting a wolf king after all. Her instincts told her that this probably had something to do with Ria, so she ran back as quickly as she could so that she could find out what happened. When she returned, she was surprised to find Ria lying on the floor.
Angelina thought that something bad had happened to her, but after checking her pulse, she realized that Ria had just fainted. After carrying her to the bed, she waited anxiously by her side, waiting for her to come to so that she could find out what was going on.
Seconds felt like minutes, and minutes felt like hours. Nicholas was the only family member that she had left, so she definitely could not lose him.
One hour… two hours…
The rain poured down harder and harder. Every time the thunder cracked, Angelina's heart jumped in worry. Rather than calm down, it just made her more anxious the longer she had to wait.
Suddenly, Angelina saw Ria's eyelids quiver. She was finally awake!
"Ria, what happened?! Why are Nicholas and August suddenly fighting?" Angelina shook Ria's shoulders anxiously.
Ria was disoriented for a moment, but then tears welled in her eyes. She looked down. "It's because… I'm not just Nicholas's luna, I'm also August's luna.
"How… How is that possible?" Angelina was in disbelief.
"I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth." Ria laughed bitterly. "I hope Nicholas comes back safely…"
"He will. I'm sure he will!" Angelina clenched her fists. Her words were meant to reassure Ria, but she needed it too.
Time gradually went by, but Ria did not stop worrying for a moment. This was a fight between two wolf kings. Nobody could say for sure who was going to come out of it the victor. The only thing they could do was wait.
What if… Her heart clenched. She simply could not bear to think about it any longer.
Ria had been far too weak in her past life, and that was why she could only be dragged along and have her fate decided for her by someone else. However, she returned now with newfound determination. She no longer feared death.
She would rather die than succumb to August's threats!
At that moment, Angelina suddenly began trembling next to her, a look of fear and despair clouding her eyes.
Ria had a bad premonition about it. She sat up and looked out the window. There in the rain, she saw a figure approaching, a figure that she feared having to see again.
Ria instantly felt her heart drop to the bottom of an endless abyss.
