Alexa spent the remainder of the flight trying not to make direct eye contact with her new boss, far too embarrassed by being caught out by him while she was in the middle of singing to herself.
She had never been so embarrassed in her entire life!
No one had ever heard her sing except for her ex-boyfriend, Edward.
And according to him, her voice wasn’t even that good!
That’s why she never sang, not to anyone anymore.
Alexa hated remembering how her prick-of-an ex made her feel on a day-to-day basis, back when they lived together.
The overpowering dark cloud that she had been swept up into during their three years together as a couple. Three long, horrible years of neglect and abuse she had been forced to endure.
Her past relationship with him was one of the main reasons why she decided to change her occupation, and instead work in administration.
It was as if Edward actually got off on making Alexa feel unwanted and unworthy.
But that was all in her past… she needed to try and remember that.
Edward was gone from her life entirely. She finally had the chance to rebuild, allowing her confidence and feelings of self-worth the chance to return.
And he would never again lay a hand on her.
He would have to find her first!
The day Alexa left him, she made herself a promise, one that she intended on keeping no matter what. That she would never again allow another man to hurt her the way that Edward had.
Her dream had always been to sing, ever since she was just a little girl practising with her hairbrush in the mirror.
And her heartless ex had shattered her dreams into tiny, little pieces by crushing her spirit.

Alexa watched out the corner of her eye as several of the well-dressed men glanced her way and smiled as they strode past her, on their way through to exit the jet.
Frowning with confusion, she wondered why they were suddenly giving her the time of day. It was strange.
She had no idea whatsoever of the large crowd that had gathered in the doorway earlier on, only that Dante himself had walked in on her.
He was the only one she appeared embarrassed around right now.
Everyone began to disembark the jet, including both Dante and Alexa. With him leading the way out front, the two made their way down the metal staircase and along the tarmac.
Several black SUV’s were parked beside one another and the occupants of the jet began to slowly pile into them one by one.
But Dante wasn’t walking towards the SUV’s.
No, instead he stopped beside… a motorcycle?
Alexa’s eyes widened and her stomach dropped.
She stood watching with concern as the well-dressed CEO took one of the black helmets and turned to face her with his left brow raised in question.
“Is something wrong?”
Alexa looked between him and the sleek, black motorcycle; her expression showing her obvious hesitance to travel on one.
She held her black carry bag in against her chest, as if it might somehow protect her from such a dangerous idea.
Luca appeared beside her as Dante spoke.
“Luca here will take your bag with him. You won’t need it.” he commanded with a gesture towards his loyal henchman.
“But, how will I do my work?” she challenged.
“The time for work will come, bella.” (beautiful) he mused.
She turned to face Luca, frowning as she handed her bag over and screwed up her face. She honestly thought that her excuse might work.
The truth was that Alexa had never been on a motorcycle, and for good enough reason. They were death traps!
Anyone who decided to ride one was practically gambling with their life, at least that’s what she had always believed.
Luca turned and headed off, calling out over his shoulder as if to further add to her worries.
“Good luck!”
She could feel her heart pounding heavily, increasing rapidly with each passing second as she reached out and took the helmet that Dante had offered her.
She watched how he put it onto his head, sliding it on and adjusting it so that he could see through the open visor. She quickly did the same with hers.
The helmet was fairly snug around her head and she made sure to pull her long blonde hair out of her eyes, tucking it in behind her ears on either side of her head.
She could only see through the open visor and noticed Dante climb up onto the bike with ease. He actually looked quite sexy up there, straddling it with obvious skill and confidence.
The engine suddenly roared to life, and he turned his head to face her, holding out his hand for her to take.
“Come on bella, be brave.” he called out to her.
Taking a deep breath in to calm herself, she reached out and took his hand.
It was rather difficult for her to mount the bike in her knee-length skirt, but she quickly pulled it up a little to allow her legs the ability to open wide enough for her to straddle the bike.
She sat directly behind him, lifting her heeled feet up to rest on the footrests on either side, right in behind his.
The bike was rumbling violently between both her thighs and she felt rather embarrassed that the vibration was beginning to somehow turn her on.
That and the closeness of their bodies as his back pressed up against her chest and her pelvis pressed against his firm behind.
“Make sure to wrap your arms around my waist and hold on tight.” he called out again.
Flipping his visor closed, the playful CEO revved the bike’s powerful engine a couple of times, enjoying the power he had control over.
“Dante, I’m scared!”
Alexa surprised him as she suddenly cried out from behind.
Her arms wrapped around him in a sudden state of panic. He could feel her body as it began to tremble against him.
Something deep inside of him surfaced and he turned his head to the side. The big, bad Mafia Boss then spoke to reassure her in a calming voice.
“Relax, bella, I’ve got you… I won’t allow anything to happen to you.”
Nodding her head and closing her eyes, Alexa held onto him even tighter now.
She could feel the bike suddenly jerk forwards as they took off across the tarmac, headed in the direction of the main road leading into the city.
Where they were going, she still had no clue.
She could only prey that she would arrive there in one piece.
-
The bike ride was surprisingly stunning as the two zoomed along at top speed. They zipped along one of the inner-city highways, eventually moving onto the quieter roads leading along the ocean shoreline.
The traffic wasn’t too bad, not as bad as Dante had thought it might be at this time in the late afternoon.
Alexa couldn’t help but turn and stare at the sparkling ocean as they continued along at what she felt was a more suitable speed.
They travelled around winding corners and along pristine beaches filled with hundreds of people happily bathing; some even choosing to take a dip in the extremely inviting sky-blue water.
How she wished she could be one of those lucky people right now.
Alexa loved the beach and the ocean.
Secretly, it was one of her most guilty pleasures.
-
Throughout the ride, Alexa had managed to relax a little more as she leaned in against Dante’s back, holding him close and listening to the sound of the wind as it flew by.
She had to admit, this was a first for her; a first of many to come.
Fifteen more minutes of riding and it appeared they had finally reached their mystery destination.
Dante skilfully steered the powerful bike down the long, dark ramp and into an underground carpark. They pulled up beside what appeared to be a singular elevator and Alexa looked towards it in question.
Where were they?
There were two armed men standing on either side of the elevator doors. The one on the left started to make his way across to where Dante had parked.
Alexa watched as the handsome billionaire seated in front of her kicked out the bike’s stand before lifting his leg and dismounting the bike.
Reaching up, he removed his helmet and ran his free hand through his hair to neaten it a couple of times.
Without even looking at the man who had approached him, Dante reached out and handed his helmet to the armed man who took it without a single word.
Dante then turned and smiled as he held out his hand for his assistant to disembark along with him, and Alexa easily got the hint.
She grasped his hand to help her balance as she carefully climbed off, quickly pulling her skirt back down over her knees before she reached up and pulled off her own helmet.
The moment it had come off she felt instant relief from the force it had placed upon her head.
It was rather snug; bike helmets needed to be. But now she seemed worried that it had messed up her wavy locks.
She used her fingers to comb through her long blonde hair a few times as Dante took her helmet and handed it to the same armed man as before.
He then began to stroll across the concrete of this dimly-lit underground carpark, headed towards the elevator.
“Mr. Romano.”
The armed guard still standing at the elevator greeted him with a courteous nod.
He turned his attention towards Alexa and she stopped at the stern expression he held. One of uncertainty. He had never seen her before and in his line of work, needed to be highly cautious.
“Relax Maurice. This is Alexa Myers, my new personal assistant.”
Dante politely introduced the two, placing his hand at the small of her back and prompting Alexa to come forward to meet the intimidating guard in person.
He looked scary. Maybe that was how he was supposed to look.
She guessed his job was to keep the wrong kinds of people out of wherever they were headed. So of course, he would need to look intimidating. That made sense.
“It’s nice to meet you, Maurice.” she uttered, a little more hesitantly than she might have liked.
She held out her hand for him to shake, and the corner of his mouth curved upwards at the kind gesture from this tiny woman.
Well, she was only tiny in comparison to him!
He reached out and took her hand in his, giving it a soft shake as he spoke with a smile.
“Miss Myers.”
“Have they already arrived?” Dante asked.
“Yeah boss. They got in just before you did.”
Dante gave a dark chuckle as Maurice leaned in towards the control panel of the elevator and pressed the button to go up.
Alexa watched on in curiosity as he pulled out some sort of a special black and gold card which was attached to a retractable metal cord and linked to his belt.
He scanned the card against the large black control pad, before pressing a series of numbers; some sort of a code Alexa thought.
Suddenly the once red light flashed bright green.
This place, wherever they were, was certainly secure.
There was a soft ‘ding’ sound before both the elevator doors slowly opened to allow them access inside.
Dante held out his hand, gesturing for her to go inside as he spoke, “After you.”
Alexa stepped into the elevator and looked around.
The entire interior was made of mirrors, even the roof!
She could see both hers and Dante’s reflections staring back at her, no matter which direction she looked. It reminded her of a house of mirrors.
Once they were inside and the elevator doors had closed, Dante leaned in and pressed a singular button before stepping back again and waiting.
The elevator took off, Alexa could feel as they were going up several floors, though she didn’t know how many exactly as there was only one button visible on the control panel.
All of this, it just didn’t make sense!
Once again, a soft ‘ding’ sounded and the elevator doors opened slowly to reveal a large open space, similar to a suite in a hotel. She stared in disbelief at it.
“What is this place?” Alexa asked as she walked out of the elevator and into the arched entryway.
Dante walked along ahead of her as he replied over his shoulder.
“If I told you that... I’m afraid I’d have to kill you.”
She frowned at his strangely dark joke.
That is, she could only assume he was joking...
“Come on bella. I want you to come and meet someone.” Dante announced with a smile.
