SHADOW HEIRS: THE LAST KINGDOM
Part 2 – The Journey Begins
The wind howled as darkness spread across Raven Hollow. The cloaked figure hovering above the village raised a hand, and dozens of shadow creatures emerged from the forest. Their glowing red eyes pierced the night, and terrified villagers fled in every direction.
"Protect the prince!" Lady Seraphine commanded.
Her knights formed a circle around Kael, drawing enchanted swords that shimmered with blue light. Steel clashed against shadow as the battle erupted.
Kael stood frozen. Only moments ago, he had been an ordinary blacksmith's apprentice. Now strangers called him prince, monsters hunted him, and his entire world had turned upside down.
One shadow beast broke through the knights' defense and charged toward Garrick.
"No!" Kael shouted.
Without thinking, he rushed forward. The royal pendant around his neck glowed brightly. A sword made entirely of golden light appeared in his hand.
With one powerful strike, Kael defeated the creature. The remaining shadows hesitated, sensing the return of the ancient royal power.
High above, the cloaked figure watched silently.
"So... the heir has awakened sooner than expected," he whispered before disappearing into the darkness.
When the battle finally ended, Raven Hollow lay in ruins. Homes had burned, and many villagers had fled.
Garrick stepped toward Kael with tears in his eyes.
"There is something I should have told you years ago."
He revealed that Kael's parents had sacrificed themselves to save him on the night the royal family fell. Before dying, they entrusted Garrick with raising the young prince in secret until the time was right.
"You were never meant to live as a blacksmith," Garrick said softly. "You were born to reclaim the Last Kingdom."
Kael lowered his head.
"I don't know how to be a king."
Lady Seraphine smiled.
"You don't have to become one today. First, you must survive."
At dawn, Kael left the only home he had ever known. Alongside Lady Seraphine and her loyal knights, he began the long journey toward the lost capital of Asteria, where the truth about his bloodline—and the legendary Crown of Light—awaited him.
But hidden deep within the Black Mountains, the Shadow King slowly opened his glowing crimson eyes.
"The game has begun," he said.
And across the land, the shadows began to gather once more.
