6: Soft-Pedal For Callaghan IT was twenty minutes to seven when Callaghan left Scotland Yard. He hailed a taxi by the Cenotaph and told the man to drive to Piccadilly Circus. He went downstairs into the subway and telephoned Darkie. 'Listen, Darkie,' he said.
