NickI was glad for the buffer provided by my niece. As much as I longed to tell Micky that my relationship with Vivienne was over for good, she looked nervous to be around me.
"How was brunch?" I asked, hoping some light conversation would help her relax. Her shoulders were stiff, and she stayed focused forward, not looking at me.
