I was in my room sleeping in the bed as Lea was playing with her doll the one she grabbed before we ditched our house. I couldn't help but think about my parents and how the world went to sh*t I missed them so much, but I won't cry cause I need to be tough for Lea. 

I heard Richard and Chris come back from putting up the car so nobody could steal it. 

I walked up towards the window in our room and just looked at how beautiful their front yard was. I was admiring it until I saw a shadow past by quickly in the woods I was quite skeptical about it but soon I forgot about it. 

I must be imaging it or could be a wild animal we do have a lot of deer and rabbits in the woods. 

I walked away from the window and decided to get downstairs and check up on everyone. "How much food we got left?" Richard asked.

"Um, 28 cans of food and a couple of boxes of some cracker, Cheez*its, extra" I replied turning around checking the pantry.

"Probably gonna last us two weeks and a half then after that we should go hunting"

"Hunting, can I join?"I asked.

"I don't know sweetheart can you even shot a gun?" Richard asked.

"I don't know can you even brush your teeth?" I spat back.

He just erupted with laughter that was our relationship we always picked at each other playfully. Chris, Noah, Richard, and I walked out and kept on talking and walking towards the barn where Chris wanted to show us something in there. 

We walked in the barn and made our way pasted the dark and empty stables and reached towards this generator. 

"Now this generator is very important it powers the house, the stables, and even the fence"

"Anything wrong happens just open it up," He said as he began opening up the generator," then you just flip some of the other switches that light up stables, house, or the fences"

"so you're saying if the lights don't work then just come here and flip one of the switches off and it should somehow work?" asked Noah

"Yes sir, I sure am" replied Chris in his normal country accent "Come follow me I'll show you how the fence works"

We walked out and follow him to the tall fences then that's where we saw a rabbit trapped in it. It was burnt and smelt really bad and you could tell it was dead by the way it acted like it had rabies or something. 

"Looks like something already got caught in it," said Noah.

"Poor thing," I said.

Chris got a knife bent down and stabbed it in the head it was brutal, but I understand why he did it.

"Well, that usually happens when your out in the middle of nowhere anyway this sucker right here shots out about 5000 volts!"

"Wow, that's insane!" Noah said looking impressed," but what will you do if you run out of battery to even power up the generator?"

"Yeah we've asked that question for a while now and luckily we got two packs of batteries left"

"How long can the generator even go?" I asked.

"About a whole week or so"

"Well that's sure is good," said Richard.

"We should probably head back bef- *BANG* 

We all turned around frightened by the noises and saw seven men with guns pointing it at us. They probably saw how scared I was by the look on my face.

"You already know what I'm about to ask for Chris so give it up," said a gun that had cowboy shoes and a flannel shirt on.

"Who the f*ck are you thinking you can come in here and boss us around?" said Richard reaching for his gun.

"How about you mind your d*mn business this is between me and Chris!" said the same guy.

"You know what I'm tired of your bull s**t Tarence," Said Chris anger.

*BANG* 

After that one shot, everything went bad.
