Mom pursed her lips while we were having lunch. My mood quickly changed when she was about to call out her name. I hate it when someone would start a conversation about her especially our friends... that are now long gone.
"Let me," Dad stood up when the doorbell rang. Who is it?
"Mom, did you guys invited someone?"
"Of course we didn't. This is a family day, just the three of us," she continued eating and seemed not curious to know who pressed the doorbell.
"Oh, what a surprise! Come in." I turned around to see who it is and my eyebrows raised when it's a stranger.
It was a girl, around my age, i'm not quite sure. She's wearing a purple bonet, thick sweater, croptop, baggy jeans and a cool street-style snickers. I could tell she's boyish base on her outfit.
She also have the looks... natural looks. She's not wearing any makeup just like the Vice President. She has a deep dimple that exposed with just a slight movement of her lips, thin pinkish lips, innocent asian eyes but her skin is kinda pale.
"Mex, he's my son by the way, Zero is his name," she waved her hand at me and smiled, so I smiled back... an awkward one.
"Mexie, what brought you here? Eat with us. Try Zero's cooking." Mom rushed and took another clean plate for Mex? Mexie?
"Oh, don't mind, Tita. I just came by to tell Tito that Dad wants to... you know," she winked at Dad and made an action like she was drinking something.
I guess our Fathers will be drinking beers later.
"Okay, tell him that I'll just wait him here."
"Mexie, are you sure you're not joining us? There are still a lot of foods left."
"Thank you, Tita, for the invitation but seriously, I need to go back. I got to go, bye!" She gave Mom a slight smile before turning around and was about to leave but Dad called her for instructions.
"Tell your Dad that I'll bring another head!"
"Sure, Tito. See you later! Nice meeting you, Zero!"
"Likewise," I answered in a low voice and i'm sure she didn't heard it. After she left, I frowned at Dad.
"I'm not in the mood to drink, Dad. Besides, I need to be back early." I disagree and continued eating.
"Are you sure?" My Dad asked and I instantly nodded.
.
"What the?" My shoulders fell as I stared at Andreya's house… the door is f*****g locked!
I looked at the time in my phone and saw that it's almost 8 pm.
Hayst Dad, this is all your fault!
All the lights are off and I don't want to disturb her slumber, knowing that she must be tired from cleaning the house all day.
Shit, where should I sleep?
.
[Andreya's POV]
I woke up when I suddenly feel like something is not right. I quickly tied my hair and cleaned my face before walking down stairs.
I could hear noises coming from the kitchen. I sighed when the lights in the dining and kitchen are on.
"Why now?" I muttered before taking my hunter knife that I always hid under the sofa.
I carefully took steps without making any single sound. I was ready for anything that will happen.
I was about to throw my hunter knife to the impostor that crashed into my house but I was stunned. I quickly hid my hunter knife besides my waist when it's Zero.
"What the heck are you doing here?!" Zero jumped in surprisement when he heard me shout.
He look so surprised to see me already inside the kitchen. I stared emotionlessly at him and I hope he notice that i'm angry.
"Wait. Did I disturbed your sleep? I'm really sorry for touching your things..."
"You didn't answer me. Let me ask you again, what are you doing here?"
[Zero's POV]
I pursed my lips when I remembered opening the windows in the kitchen just to get in.
"I was clear when I said that you have a curfew. You even agreed."
"Dad invited me to drink with them. It's been a week since i've been with them and I was shy to say no especially that Dad invited our new neighbor." I explained and scratched my head.
I gulped when and walked backwards when she suddenly went closer to me until my back hits the counter.
"A disciplined person knows his priorities. No excuse is needed."
I was stunned by what she said. Her eyes were staring deeply into mine and if eyes could talk, she must have lectured me nonstop. She's right, my excuse is not valid enough. I shouldn't have agreed with Dad.
"I'm sorry." I apologize and looked away. I'm sincere, it's just that… i'm not used to say sorry even if it's my fault and now, I said sorry cause I don't want her to get mad even more.
"What's done is in the past now. Just don't repeat the same mistake." I felt the needle in my heart finally break free when the side of her eyes softened.
"But you need to sleep outside for not following my order, Mr. Cortez."
"I can manage that," I bravely answered that made her eyebrows raised.
"I mean outside of the house. No blanket, no pillow. You'll be sleeping overnight on the side of the street."
My jaw fell when she elaborated what she mean. Seriously, she can manage to punish me like that?
"I cooked some breakfast. Isn't that enough to lift my punishment?" I hesitantly smiled at her.
Her forehead creased and her eyes fell to the apron that i'm wearing until she finally realized what I was doing in the kitchen.
"Why did you cooked?" Her eyebrows met and countered my gaze.
"Wait. Aren't you happy that I cooked breakfast for you?" I was disappointed that she's not happy at all.
"Mr. Cortez, I know that you don't know how to cook…" I got puzzled when she took my wrist.
"... It's a good thing that you didn't burn yourself."
