The Redwood Pack Pt 2

1023 Words
Eric It is unique showing my mate around. Typically werewolves move in together within a week of meeting each other, but then again they usually either grow up together or are in neighboring packs.  Having a mate who lived several states away and isn't connected with her wolf, makes this an abnormal situation. My Alpha side wants her at least on the same floor as me, but my human side thinks that she might do better on the same floor as the other, single she-wolves. "So there are multiple floors to this packhouse. I'm not sure where you would feel most comfortable. I have extra rooms on the floor that I share with my family, but we also have extra rooms on the second floor. This is where my younger sister and the other single she-wolves stay. Let me know where you would like to stay and I'll have someone prepare a room for you.". " I think that I would like to stay on the second floor. It will give me a chance to get to know more of the pack, I hope that's okay," said Amber with a slight shrug.  "That is completely okay", I say with a smile. I quickly mind link a pack member to prepare a room. One with its owm bathroom and view.  We head from the main living area into the dining area. Several pack members pass us and nod their heads. "Alpha, Luna.". Amber looks surprised by how they address her, but their wolves recognize her rank. My Beta Drew approaches us.  "Welcome Future Luna! My name is Drew and I'm the fun one around here. I'm hoping that you can get Mr. Dedicated to getting out  more...and no Alpha, surfing or working out  early in the morning does not count as getting out." says Drew. "I'm fun...someone has to run the pack"...I grumble. Amber laughs, " Noted, I'll do what I can, Speaking of getting out, I've lived here for six months and I have yet to see the coast".  "You sound just as bad as him!" says Drew exasperated. "Well, I love my job, what can I say," responds Amber. "We can make a trip out to the coast tomorrow then. I'll have someone pack a picnic" I say before heading to my office to catch up. I'm suddenly looking forward to tomorrow even more.  Amber A pack member, by the name of Emily, shows me to my room. It's a modest size room with its own balcony and a private bathroom. I go outside of the balcony and admire the scenery around me. These redwood trees are the size of large buildings and, slightly red, as their name suggests. They don't look like they should exist. It has to be several hundred feet tall. Even with being a few stories up, they're impressive.  I quickly change out of my pilot's uniform and shower. I finish blow drying my hair when a brunette with blue eyes, knocks on my door. "Hello, future Luna! My name is Jewel. I'm Eric's younger sister. He asked me to introduce you to all of the ladies on this floor. We're having a pizza night in celebration of your arrival, " said Jewel with a smile. "Well, that's sweet of you. Please call me Amber, I'm not Luna.. yet" I respond.  "Aw, but it's more fun to call you Luna, it makes you feel like we're sisters already!" said Jewel excitedly. A woman with dark hair and brown eyes walks in. "Well, who is this Princess? I've been trying to get the Alpha to give me this room for years..." said the woman while eyeing me. "This is no princess! This is your future Luna," said Jewel while staring down at the other woman. "Ah yes...the Luna without a wolf..what a joke," Said the other woman. Those words stung, but this isn't my first time having that thrown at me. "Hello, my name is Amber and I didn't catch your name", I say with a smirk. "Elaine" replied the woman. "Well Elaine, I might not be fully connected with my wolf at the moment, but that is something that I intend to fix. As for me being a joke. I have been trained to run a pack similar in size, with multiple businesses, since I was able to read and write. Also, I wasn't trained as it’s Luna, I was trained to run it as it's Alpha. I am fully capable of taking over the Luna position, with, or without my wolf.". "Okay, future Luna," says Elaine as she rolls her eyes and leaves the room. "Don't worry about her" says Jewel. "She has been throwing herself at my brother since they were preteens. Not all of our pack members think as she does," said Jewel with a smile. "Thank you, I appreciate that, are there any other jealous exes that I should know about?" I ask. "Oh she's not an Ex, she wishes she was. My brother isn't your typical Alpha. He threw himself into his work, not at girls. I think he might have had a fling or two in his teens, but he mostly pushed other she-wolves away. He's gained a lot of respect just by not playing your typical Alpha cards." said Jewel. "So basically you're saying he was smart enough not to sleep with every walking she-wolf in the pack?" I said with a smirk. "Yes! Exactly. Our neighboring pack is run by an older Cousin of ours, and he did just that, things got a bit awkward once he found his mate." said Jewel while laughing. "How many neighboring packs are there?" I ask. "Around six, there are a lot of woods near here" replied Jewel. "Six neighboring packs?" I was surprised. "Do you have problems with wars or power struggles?" I asked, concerned. "No, not in our lifetime. There are several treaties signed that keep that at bay" said Jewel. "Emily just mind linked me that the pizza has arrived, are you ready to meet some more of us?" said Jewel. "I know that I am, lead the way" I respond.
