I called Alex asking him to meet me at a small café in town. I had already ordered a coffee and I was sitting at a table waiting for Alex to arrive. My leg was bouncing up and down as I waited for him. I kept glancing down at my phone to check the time. He should be here any minute. Every time the door swung open, I sat up straight to see if it was Alex. I jumped when the waitress came over to drop of my coffee. I gave her a small smile and apologized. “Sorry I’m late,” Alex said coming up to the table. I got up from the table to give him a hug. He sat down in the chair across from me and ran his hand through his hair. He had a nervous smile and I felt my stomach drop. He knew. “You wanted to talk,” he said. “Right.” My eyes flicked down to the coffee. “Do you want anything?”
