There was a knock on the door. On a Sunday morning, she had absolutely no idea of who the intruder might be. She jumped out of bed despite her dizziness, shrugged her robe on and made her way to the living room. She opened the door and found Alex leaning against the doorframe, his hand behind his back. Of course. Why hadn't she thought of him? "Hi, Dem." He said, a smile covering the lower half of his face. "Hello, Alex." He glanced around the apartment, most probably searching for Brie, only she wasn't in. Brie was never in on Sunday mornings. His eyes settled on her again. "May I come in?" She nodded and he presented her with a bouquet of white flowers, peonies. She thanked him and allowed him in the house, closing and locking the door after he entered. She ventured into the kitch
