They were safely back in the limousine. She was sitting next to him, of course, but they were much closer than the last time. Her hands were on her lap and and so were her eyes. Now that the evening was over, she didn't know what to say to him. She recalled Mrs. Bailey informing her that he had assisted in organizing the event, obviously with funds rather than labor, but she couldn't bring herself to congratulate him about it. Firstly, because the minimal contact rule was still on and secondly, he still looked upset. She didn't like seeing him upset, but there was nothing she could do to help him or comfort him. She didn't know his fiancée all that well, but seriously? She preferred attending a cocktail party? That was a pretty good indicator of the kind of person she suspected she was.
