Mr. Ryker was ruthless. He made sure to keep her overwhelmed with work the entire day. She thought she was beginning to lose her mind. He flooded her life with a massive wave of tedious work and acrid humiliation, and she could barely keep her head above the water. She was drowning. Gasping for air. Trapped. She never thought that a simple lie would have such an astounding effect on her. She couldn't recover after that one. Her self-esteem lowered significantly.
