The elevator moved down through the building that had been Sophia’s whole world for the last three years. With every floor they passed, it felt like another piece of her old life fell away. By the time they reached the parking garage, she wasn’t Mrs. Richard Blackwood anymore, she wasn’t a trapped wife or a helpless victim.
