Chapter 5

1155 Words
“You are beautiful, you know?” “Like you aren't?” “Maybe… I’m dull in comparison to you.” “No, you’re not. You’re so handsome. Everything around us is beautiful. The world is beautiful—” “My world is you. My everything is you. You take my breath away. You’re like porcelain. A doll comes to life. And most of all… you’re my heart, my eyes, my every step. You are… everything. Everything—my morning, my night, my dream, my waking. My first, my last. You make me love myself. You make me love you. That’s why you are so beautiful. Like my only star in the sky—the only one I see. You’re so pretty, so pretty that even the moon seems dull in comparison. You shimmer, you twinkle… in a field of roses, it’s only this Ruby that catches my eyes—my view—endlessly and ever. You are this beautiful… my love.” ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Ruby had just turned 10, a sapphire among all— A beauty of truth that no one accepted. Today, she learned the word useless, and her little mind was suddenly filled with questions she couldn’t answer. She was walking down the small corridor where she lived with her only mother, Nana, and a few soldiers. This was her home—her own small house, just a little distance away from the grand castle she often wondered about. What was it like inside? She didn’t know. Her mother once told her that when she was born, she was born in the castle—and that everyone’s faces lit up when they saw her. She stared at the flower and at the fallen petal, resting on the royal gold-embroidered carpet. Oddly, it didn’t stand out but blended in with the surroundings. She thought: Is the flower useless now? It had lost a petal—the very thing that completed it. Now it’s useless, right? But in her heart, she had a thousand answers why it wasn’t. It was still a rose. still worthy. Still beautiful. The petal had dried. She knew another would not grow in its place. The flower kept only those petals that were still soft and alive , filled with life and nutrients…and soon they will turn the same too, but it didn't hide the fact only the beautiful and good ones were attached, the bad ones were falling on their own. She smiled.. and held the flower close. She could have ripped off the rest of the petals if she wanted to.But she didn’t. She waited. She waited until each petal fell on its own. Is it useless now? she thought. No, it isn’t. Because in her eyes, It still held meaning. It was the flower that let its petals fall gently—into her hands. She took it with her into her chambers. Her room was beautiful— Adorned with deep forest green silk, The curtains caught sunlight in a way that filled the room with warmth. And there was her bed… her beloved bed… Looking even more beautiful now—because her mother sat on it, sewing a dress. Ara noticed her, smiling softly, watching as Ruby walked to the drawer, opened her diary, placed the lifeless flower between its pages, Then turned to greet her mother. “Ruby-love, what did you learn today?” Ruby looked up at her mother. She opened her mouth, paused, and then spoke. “I learned about the way of life, Mama.” Ara tilted her head, slightly confused. “The way of life?” “Yes, Mama.” She came near and sat beside her mother, who had paused sewing the purple dress to listen. “I learned that life begins like a little flower—fresh, with unopened petals. And as it grows, the petals open, showing it’s ready for pollination. In life, it means a person becomes ready to face adulthood and responsibilities. Then, the flower pollinates, creating more flowers. But when someone plucks the flower— That’s when every moment becomes a flash. When it no longer lives for itself, But for the petals still holding on. Eventually, those petals fall—one by one. And to others, it may seem useless. But it isn’t. Not in the memory of those petals that once brought it joy. The petals completed it, but it doesn't mean that without the petals, it is useless.” “In life, the people we love are like those petals. They begin to leave us, one by one…they have to, no person stays forever… And the last one to leave is God. That’s when a person becomes completely useless. But God …never leaves anyone. Not even the ones who have left their own selves. That means a person is not useless in any way. He can never be. Because every petal—every person who loved him—carries his memory. Sometimes, memories make us sad… Other times, they bring us joy. But no flower is useless, Mama, Not the one that created memories with every single petal.” No person is useless, not the one who created memories with every person he loved. Ara listened quietly, shocked. How could her 10-year-old daughter speak like this? She looked at Ruby in awe. “So… is there a lesson you learned from this way of life?” “Yes. Of course.” “What is it?” “That nobody is useless. Everyone has their own meaning in life.” Ara’s mind couldn’t settle. How could a child like her be so mature? Her breath slowed down, trying to catch up with her heart. And what she felt even more than surprise— Was pride. So much pride. Because her little world… just by looking at a flower… had found a meaning most people never do. Ara mind wandered to the past. Her mother, who never understood her, always taunted her and treated her like nobody. Her brother was cherished more than anything. Obviously, as he was the crown prince. While she was a mere human being with feelings, nobody understood. She had made a promise to herself , she would never want her daughter to feel what she felt ever …. She will never. Even the child she lost was important to her, she can't forget him…but it doesn't change the fact that now her only one is Ruby , her little world. ☆☆☆☆☆ Their love was something destiny stood against. Finding a way out of the garden that slowly suffocated them was becoming harder. She was pouring silent sorrows… yet it was his world that was truly crumbling. He used to wonder—how could love make a person feel like this? It was a thread spun from the loom of his own mind…… …..love… Love blooms in hearts where riches fade,a timeless song the stars have made—only, for her.
