“I can’t do this, save yourself, Janet.” I gasped for air, my hand clutching the claw wound in my side.
Janet supported me as we moved into a dark cave, scolding me. “Shut your mouth; you’ll heal soon.”
“He has silver daggers. Leave me behind and take your family and run.”
Janet placed me in a dark corner and pushed a boulder across more than half of the cave entrance. She unfastened the scent-masking bracelet from her wrist and slipped it onto mine.
