After Mr Cargill’s appearance at the funeral, everyone was left feeling uncomfortable, and the wake, that should have been a celebration of the old hardware store owner, turned into a muted gathering of people all muttering about the developer’s appearance and words until one by one everyone left.
My Cadell colleagues and their partners were the last to leave, Lincoln, Gage and Callan reluctantly leading the way as they had to get home to their children who were all with a sitter that Callan had hired.
