Daisy’s POV As I sit curled up in a tight ball on the floor by the kitchen door, the sudden sound of thumping comes from the front of the cafe. Fear cripples me as I wonder if the developer has come back again. As suddenly as they start, they stop again, but I barely get a shaky breath in before they start again, this time to my right, on the reinforced door that separates me from the alleyway outside. I stare at the door silently, trying not to move, hoping that he’ll think I’ve already left. ‘Daisy? Are you in there? Open the door!’ a muffled voice calls out, making me frown because I know that voice.
