Alexander listened to Melanie talk over her coms. Mason was upset. He could get in f*****g line. He was going to kill people while I was stuck out here. Lexi spoke, “Heath texted. There were a few coven members who tried to get through on their side. He’s got them. A few are still inside, but they have seven of them.” Dalton and I nodded to each other. They were ours. We watched Addison and Sierra carry Paige inside the pack house. Emmett said, “I told the women to let her in the safe room, Dalton.” I couldn’t help but be jealous. Dylan snorted, “Now the moody triplet is jealous. His mate is commanding a different pack and in the thick of the fight. Can we talk about how ALL Alpha Emmett’s warriors are just listening to her? Not one growl…..not one hey...I got this lady….Because….that’s impressive. I’ve never had another group of warriors just listen to me….Say...Saint God Alpha Prick….that sounds like a power of yours. You’ve commanded other people’s men, right?” My dad rolled his eyes, “Not without their Alpha there….or taking over a pack.” Dylan snorted, “OH MY GOD! This is beautiful. Plus, she’s quite the strategist. Anyone else think she needs to start singing The Chain by Fleetwood mac? I do.”
Emmett asked, “Anyone want to tell me how Melanie knows who Killian is on sight? Because...I was under the impression she hadn’t met people from this pack.” No one said anything. Cayden eventually answered, “She does that. She just knows who people are. She knew who I was the first time we met. Without me telling her.” Emmett asked, “Are we not curious about that? Because that’s weird.” I snarled, “No. We are not.” Emmett raised an eyebrow, “Alright.” I asked, “Where’s Alexandria?” Emmett sighed in relief, “Her and Emma are actually shopping in your territory. They are safe with some of my men.” My dad linked me, “That’s a pretty good strategy she’s implementing.” I nodded. Dylan snorted, “A circle? So simple...so brilliant….” I said, “She’s been a female lead warrior of a pack; A pack she's basically been leading herself for four years.” Dylan nodded, “Yes, but she came up with all on her own. Because….I think we’ve established….the man named Edward parading as her alpha...when it wasn’t him…..doesn’t do anything Alpha like.” He munched on popcorn. He continued, “So, he clearly wasn’t giving out battle plans for her to follow. Can’t everyone just see MelAshley telling him his plan was cute and to shut up while she figured out a better one? Because I can.” Micah snorted, “That’s not exactly how she’s said it before.”
Dylan squealed, “Spill the beans Micah!” My mom frowned, “He doesn’t have any f*****g beans. He has inside information.” Dylan smirked, “Right you are my goddess….Go on Micah...information us.” Micah snorted, “One time she told him to go tuck his tail in his office because his idea was crap and the adults were talking about what to do.” Dylan squealed, “I LOVE HER!” Emmett growled, “Why are they holding in the line? They need to attack.” My dad said, “No, they don't. They are letting the rogues wear themselves out on the run to them.” Uncle Jackson laughed, “Oh, now where have I seen that? I do believe you put out strategies in a paper to the werewolf community from the council, big brother….this is one of yours.” My dad nodded, “With improvements. The formation she has is better than mine. Unless someone breaks the circle, but if you added a few wolves inside the circle…..” Cayden added, “She usually does. She has people assigned though. She’s kind of commanding on the fly.” Emmett added, “And everyone is just listening to her. They don’t even know her.” Drake said, “She’s my daughter. She’s Alexander’s mate. If you were a warrior…..I’d think you would listen to Alexander’s mate because….not doing so seems like a bad idea.” T snorted, “No joke.” Emmett nodded, “Fair enough.”
I felt nothing but relief when Melanie was thrown a bullet proof vest to put on. Once the rogues had done all the work running to her group. They were gassed. Melanie yelled for them to attack, and they did. Jason spoke, “Is it me, or are the rogues avoiding Melanie.” Dylan snorted, “Hey….even rogues have brains. I would avoid her like the plague if were on opposite sides….though I am smarter than most...there you go a dumb rogue has been killed in three seconds….By MelAshley in human form….who needs a wolf? Not MelAshley.” Cayden snorted, “I’ve said something similar.” Drake growled. TJ stiffened. I heard someone running fast, “Tell me that’s not who I think it is.” I heard someone trip. Someone yelled, “GOTCHA YOU LITTLE BRAT!” Allison screamed for Chase to help her. Chase snarled, “WHAT IS SHE DOING OUT OF THE SAFE ROOM?!” Emmett snarled, “The warlocks opened the safe room in the house. We have people down inside. They tried to stop them from taking her. Allison ran away.” Melanie screamed at everyone to hold. Emmett snarled, “THE f**k THEY WILL!” EJ cleared his throat and pointed as Melanie took off as Caine and Dax covered her part in the circle. Yellow Hills wolves relaxed the second she took off. They all accepted she was coming to save Allison.
TJ snarled at the men who came into view with his mate, “LET HER GO NOW!” Allison cried for him to help her. The warlock laughed, “And let our leverage go? Why….I just don’t think so.” My mom was holding onto TJ. His eyes were locked with Allison. I raised an eyebrow when I heard Melanie jumping in the trees. She was pretty quiet, but my hearing was great. My brother Julian linked me, “So….Your mate is a squirrel.” I turned and gave him a look. Melanie fired an arrow at the man holding Allison. For her own part, Allison kicked him the shin and got away from him. Melanie jumped down from the tree on top of him. She killed him and ordered Allison to the fairy house she shouldn't be able to see. Emmett said, “I still want to know how she can see that house.” Yeah, well….I’d wanted to know longer. Cayden had clearly wanted to know the longest. It hit me. I turned to Cayden, “When Cassie went out…..when she got hurt with the drug ring…..you think Melanie was there.” Cayden snorted, “Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt she was. Someone called me. It’s how I tracked Cass. My number wasn’t first on the phone, and yet someone….Melanie knew to call me so I could get to Cass.” I nodded. Allison made it to Lexi’s protected house. EJ linked, “So...their spells aren’t working on Melanie.” I shrugged, “They could be the wrong one.” EJ raised an eyebrow. Melanie killed them easily. Wolves stepped out. Emmett said, “I’m seriously intrigued by your mate, Alexander.” I snarled.
Emmett laughed, “Not in that way, and you know it. That was a spell to cause her pain...and it didn’t work.” I thought about it. Corbin spoke, “It’s to cause a shifted werewolf pain. Melanie is unique in that she now has a wolf, but she hasn’t shifted. It is possible her wolf took on the pain without her feeling it, or because the spell presupposed a shifted wolf…...it doesn’t hurt her.” I could get behind that.” Emmett raised an eyebrow, “But that’s supposition. Not proof.” Cayden added, “You have no proof it was anything else, and Melanie is HELL on actual proof. It’s somewhat frustrating and DEEPLY annoying.” Melanie told the wolves she wasn’t happy to see them. I was not happy about any of this...at all. I couldn’t stop my anger when they said they were going to mark her. Drake, T, Jason, and Sam snarled along with all the Red Run wolves, but mine was the one that had people looking at our group. Hands were holding me back. Melanie linked me saying she was only mine. Oden was roaring furiously. My dad linked me, “It won’t happen. They will NOT mark her son. I don’t care what magic your mother has to do...she will.” My mom was on her phone, “Aiden you get your ASS here right now. NO ONE is forcibly marking my son’s goddamn mate. It’s a disgusting practice, but it is NOT happening. Do you hear me? You get people here because we HAVE to get in there...do you hear me because I don’t f*****g see you yet?” My Uncle popped next to her, “Loud and clear little sister. Though from what I have learned about Alexander’s mate…..they will lose. Seems anyone who fights her loses.”
Melanie said she was going to kill them. Dylan sighed, “I mean...the paralyzer could throw us a bone...literally and just paralyze him for Moody Mini Alpha Prick over there. Is everyone ok over there? I’d have tried to help calm him down, but….I value my life and limbs….Do we need a doctor? Alpha’s man….you all have no self-preservation skills.” I rolled my eyes, “I’d never hurt my family.” Dylan smirked, “Okay angry Moody triplet.” Addison called over coms that they had a problem. I groaned. Melanie said she had a rule. Dylan snorted, “OH MY GOD! A rule...she’s so adorable with her beta blood. How anyone missed that sign...I’ll just never know. I mean...rules...she has rules...I’m just saying...the signs….all there….flashing neon sign. Bright ones too….” I closed my eyes. I listened hard. I cringed. Emmett snarled, “What?” EJ sighed, “There’s pup….they have a pup from your pack. He’s putting up a fight. I guess he was hiding, but they found him.” Melanie did some gymnastic move and wrapped her legs around the guy and killed him. Dylan threw popcorn, “KILLER THIGHS! SHE HAS KILLER DANCE MOVES AND THIGHS! AHHHHHHH!!! Someone squeal with me! SHE KILLED SOMEONE WITH HER THIGHS!!!!!! That just went to a whole new level of meaning. GOD DAMN Saint God Alpha Prick….you’re going to make me elevate you in status….I’ll get right on it. It's going to be a good new name for you.” My dad rolled his eyes.
Melanie was annoyed how far away the pup was. EJ winced, “She might not get there.” Jason snorted, “She’s the flash. She will get there just fine.” Melanie took off. Emmett gaped, “What the hell? She’s faster than the last time I saw her run.” I turned, “That doesn’t leave here.” Dylan squealed, “Plans and secrets. They are such a fun couple. You’re officially number one on my favorite Conners siblings chart. Shape up other Conners’ be more fun and compete with your moody brother. Tell me little Moody triplet….what other secrets are you keeping? My wolf senses tell me there’s more. Please note my goddess, I amended the saying...just for you.” My mom snorted, “Yours made sense….you have wolf sense….so thank f*****g god.” EJ said, “We were worried for nothing. She’s already there.” Emmett tilted his head, “You’re joking. Even with this barrier…..how the hell did she do that? She even took the long way there staying in the tree line for cover.” Cassie said, “To be fair….they have the pup in the tree line.” Emmett snorted, “How is that fair? The fastest way was a straight line through the middle of the pack.” We all stopped when we heard a gunshot. T frowned, “Why on GOD’s green earth did she not just use that over here?” My dad frowned, “I’d imagine….whatever Alpha is here….saw her leave the circle. She didn’t want him to know where she was.” I snarled. Melanie appeared with a pup and ran into the pack house. Emmett sighed, “I think she’s almost as fast as I am. I’m one of the fastest wolves around….and that’s because I’m part hood.” T spoke harshly, “We get it. She’s fast. She’s ALWAYS been fast. Just because you didn’t believe me when I told you that it’s not really our problem right now…..I’ve told you many times my little sister is fast.”
Emmett nodded, “You didn’t tell me your little sister can get through witches' wards like they are nothing. Or that spells don’t affect her. What else does that watch do? And how do I buy one?” Oden snorted in my head. EJ laughed, “Seconded. I want a watch.” Elise sighed, “I bet she has ones for us all.” Emmet smirked, “Yes, all of you….I want one too.” Dylan snorted, “As a potential adoptive father of MelAshley….I get one first. Fair is fair.” Drake growled. Cayden linked me, “Emmett is failing to notice all her friends have that watch. They couldn’t get in through the witches' barrier.” I linked back, “I know.” Cayden replied, “We aren’t pointing that out…Are we?” I linked back, “No, we are not.” Cayden nodded. Cassie looked between us. Melanie reached the group again as the rogue's numbers were dwindling. They were going to win. Melanie announced the Alpha’s pack would be coming. Emmett growled. She called him Alan. I tilted my head, “As in….Alpha Alan Mueller? From Nashville? GOD DAMMIT! How many packs in Nashville have to go?” EJ sighed, “At least one more.” My entire body tensed. Emmett snorted when Melanie taunted Alan saying he couldn’t beat Emmett in a fight. Chase said, “I mean...that’s true. He can’t beat you son.” Emmett raised an eyebrow, “I am aware. I’m curious how she knows I could do it with my hands tied behind my back. Because she’s right. Uncle Heath trains us that way...but how does she know that?” I was really beginning to be annoyed with his excellent points and good questions. The barrier shrunk again.
I could see the Thunders pack now. We nodded to them. After that, I was laser focused on Melanie. T spoke, “I’m sorry...they’ve fought before? Melanie and that Alpha? Is that what she’s saying?” EJ sighed, “Anyone else getting the feeling...that’s the Alpha she beat at age fourteen. Cayden? Micah?” Micah sighed, “I didn’t know her then. I know she got in a fight with a pretty big dude from that guys pack. He didn’t make it.” We all turned to him. Micah sighed, “I had people watching him. I wanted to talk to him, but he never woke up.” I roared in anger when Alan said he’d mark her. EJ winced, “It’s not happening, Alexander.” I whirled, “IF ONE MORE GODDAMN PERSON SAYS THEY WILL TAKE WHAT’S MINE...I WILL DESTROY THEIR GODDAMN PACKS AND BURN THEIR TERRITORIES TO THE f*****g GROUND.” Dylan laughed, “Wow….that’s….a reaction...some might say...over reaction, but not me because...I grew up with SGAP over there. That sounds like something he’d say….” Alan was stunned Melanie was actually mine. He’d known. He’d known she thought it was me that was her mate. EJ grabbed my arm. I snarled, “HE KNEW SHE COULD BE MINE! HE STILL TRIED TO TAKE HER FROM ME.” Elise said, “I feel the need to point out…..he didn’t.”
Cayden said, “Cass, go back home.” Cassie snorted, “What?” I said, “He’s right. Go, Cass.” EJ said, “I agree.” My dad asked, “What? Why?” Cassie glared at us, “Oh screw it. I’m pregnant, dad.” Cayden’s jaw dropped. My mom clapped. My dad smirked, “Really?” Cassie nodded, “Yes. With twins.” My dad hugged her, “How are you feeling, Princess?” Cassie sighed in relief, “Good. You aren’t mad?” My dad laughed, “Of course not princess. The boys are right. You should go home though.” My mom snorted, “What the f**k ever. Cass, you don’t have to go home, but you will stay back here with your guard. Alright? Does that make all you overprotective Alpha f*****g males happy? Hell, Javi….say with her too.” Javi stepped out and smiled, “Of course Princess.” Cayden shrugged, “I can live with that.” He turned the guards, “If anyone touches her…..You will NOT like what follows.” I snorted, “No, they won’t. I’m at my goddamn limit today.” EJ put his hand on my shoulder. My mom asked, “Who the f**k would touch her? They are all almost dead.”
Alan said I’d never find Melanie again. Literally all of us snarled. It didn’t faze him. He thought he’d get out of here. Drake said, “I don’t give a s**t what we have to do...no one is taking my little girl ever again.” I stared Alan down and answered him, “No they won’t.” She and I had been separated from her for too long as it was. Unlike the rogues...these wolves attacked her directly. I couldn’t stop growling. Dylan sighed, “Yeesh…..look Moody growler….she’s fine.” I snarled at him. Dylan rolled his eyes, “He’s your spitting image Saint God Alpha Prick.” EJ announced, “The coven members the hood captured are in our dungeons.” Dalton chuckled, “Good. No one but Alexander or I will touch them.” Dakota snorted, “We have to wait until you two are done claiming your mates?” Dalton didn’t even pause, “Yes, you do. They are OURS.” Dakota smirked, “Fair enough.” It was more than fair and he knew it. Melanie goaded Alan to fight her. My entire body was tense. Sam was wiping her cheeks as tears silently fell down. She was gripping Drake’s hand tightly. After several moments. I growled, “She’s just messing with him.” Uncle Bjourn sighed, “I don’t like it when your mother does it, and I find I don’t like it when your mate does it either. You get a kill shot people...you take it.” My mom snorted, “Some people defuckingserve to be messed with.” We all gasped when she said he’d brought more witches to suppress Melanie’s wolf. I growled, “It’s the coven we have.” Drake growled.
Corbin said, “I didn’t see an older lady with them.” I snorted, “She’d be smart enough not to come.” The barrier was gone in an instant. One second it was there...the next it was nothing. I popped to Alan. I ran my hand through the back of his chest and ripped his heart out before I ripped his arms off. Because I needed to...I ripped his head and legs off too. I threw his torso and hit his stunned Beta from his pack who Drake was fighting. I studied Melanie. She was rambling. All I could think was she was mine. My blood was pounding with the need to claim and mark her. I threw everything I had into our kiss. I could give a f**k less about the answers everyone wanted. I needed her. Uncle Aiden pointed out no one here was used to orgies. They could leave then. They were all werewolves or Hackura. Ok, the hood too, but all supernatural’s should understand my feelings right now. EJ linked me, “Ten minutes. Give us ten minutes. Her ribs can’t be healed yet….you should heal that.” I replied, “Fine. Only because she does need to be healed.” I begrudgingly pulled away from her. I used my healing light. I was stunned...her ribs were almost healed. Not yet, but….pretty close. My mom exchanged a look with me when I pulled back. Drake looked between us. My mom linked me, “That didn’t take long.” I answered, “She was practically healed.” My mom’s face didn’t show anything, but her emotions said she was intrigued.
I told Melanie not to dive in front of a bullet. EJ snorted, “Seconded. No one liked that.” Melanie didn’t agree. She wasn’t going to it was all over her face. T hissed, “Dad!” Drake answered, “I know.” Dax spoke basically saying Melanie wouldn’t agree. He could shut up. I already knew that. My gaze snapped to him when he said she didn’t touch her record. EXFUCKINGCUSE ME?! There was a record?! A RECORD FOR GETTING SHOT. Elise started crying. EJ linked me, “What if I punch him? I think everyone would be happy about that.” Not my mate, but I wouldn’t stop him. Melanie was rambling about records. T called her on it. No one was going to answer us about the damn record. Cassie linked me as she walked over, “I’ve got this.” She asked Melanie who scrunched up her face and started rubbing her head. EJ linked me, “What the f**k?” Melanie stunned us into silence when she asked Cassie to stop because it hurt. My dad’s eyes were wide. Everyone was looking at each other stunned. Cassie was in complete shock. I gathered myself and asked if Mel was ok. EJ linked, “Are you?” I linked back, “Uhh I’m confused.” My mom popped over to try. Melanie’s astonishment hit when she realized Cassie was trying to make her tell the truth. She agreed to let my mom try.
It took a lot longer than normal, but Melanie eventually answered the question. Six...Six times. I pulled her tighter into me. My mom linked me, “I know that telling you not to lose your s**t about that….would be pointless….I’m guessing...not actually I’m not f*****g guessing.” I raised an eyebrow, “It would be pointless, yes.” My mom sighed. I turned Melanie around to face me and clarify. She thought it was better because only two of the said six bullets were aimed at her. I linked, “EJ! I’m going to need you to say words. I cannot say words right now.” EJ winced and rubbed his face with one of his hands. He announced the area was clear. Dalton linked, “I had my warriors get the remaining coven members. They are on their way to your dungeons.” I linked back, “Good...someone….so MANY someone’s need to die at my hands right now.” Emmett thanked Melanie as Lexi ripped her away from me. The only thing that stopped me from taking her back was my mom. She was glaring at me. I took Mel back the second they parted. Melanie again clarified she’d been shot six times in the vest. I linked EJ, “Right...because bullets don’t pierce through vests...that’s not a thing….OH wait….YES IT IS. The vests are bullet RESISTANT! Rounds can still pierce them….especially when shot SIX TIMES.” EJ linked, “I am aware.” I wanted to know who shot her, and if they were alive. They were. I linked my family, “Someone get the damn names before I lose my shit.” Max snorted, “Before big brother? I think we past that point.” I glared at him.
Melanie listed off the names. OH the McCann family….they would know my goddamn name by the time I was done with them. Slade Carter. I stared at Cayden. That’s where they got his name. Melanie. Jase clarified that Trevor, who claimed to be her mate, shot her. Caine said while she was saving pups. He shot her IN THE BACK. I looked at EJ who looked like he wanted to pull his hair out. Cayden was red faced and angry. Caine suddenly stiffened. Great. Just what we need someone to find their mate. I knew who was coming. Judy. She was his mate. I was not ok with this standoff happening. I didn’t care about their bullshit right now. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. I needed to claim the f**k out of my mate and then kill s**t. This is what I needed. Melanie touching Caine was about to send me straight into the killing mood portion. EJ linked me, “She’s just trying to calm him down.” I snarled, “I don’t care.” Cassie was inching forward. What stopped me was the pain Melanie felt when Ted said she was new around here. Red Run looked like they were in physical pain. I could tell Ted regretted it the second the words left his mouth. Judy’s eyes went wide. Elise was upset. She joined the conversation. Ted didn’t release Judy until Cayden confirmed he was a good guy. Dylan whispered, “We need to get the moody triplet a Zen garden. Go to your happy place moody triplet. I shall expedite the shipping on your Zen garden...your dad can reimburse me for that, don't you worry.” I glared at him. I’d gladly pop Melanie out of here and go to my happy place.
My dad linked, “You’re going to hate this, but we do need to talk with us and Red Run before…..things go down with you two in our territory.” I closed my eyes. Dylan might actually have to get that Zen garden. I linked back, “Not a long one. I don’t have much left in me.” My dad nodded, “Ok.” I grabbed Melanie as Caine and Judy ran towards each other. Paige ran outside. It was explained to her who ran out. I linked EJ, “I find it unsettling she IMMEDIATELY knows who dove IN FRONT OF A BULLET. This is not a one off. Six times...EJ. SIX.” EJ sighed, “Yup. I heard all that. Not liking it….none of it. You’re angry...I’m angry...Elise is angry and devastated….Our siblings aren’t happy. I don’t have a SINGLE good emotion in my connections.” I couldn’t even check right now. Thankfully, none of my siblings were hurt because I’d feel that; however, my anger was all consuming right now. Emmett asked about Lexi’s house and the witch barrier. Melanie didn’t understand about the house. I locked eyes with Cayden and linked him, “She has no idea….that she can see through charms.” Cayden winced, “It doesn’t sound like it, no.” EJ linked me, “Oh great….she doesn’t know she’s doing it. She just thinks everyone around her is crazy. Perfect.”
Melanie didn’t know how she got past the barrier either. Dax cut her off saying she was special. Caine and Emmett snipped at each other. Emmett brought up her watch again. Freya came out and told him to drop it. EJ raised an eyebrow. All my family members did. Emmett was annoyed that her wolf knew, and she wasn’t going to tell us. I linked him, “Watch it, Emmett. She’s been through a lot.” Melanie pointed out that just because her wolf knew didn’t mean she did. She truly didn’t understand. All she knew was that could do weird stuff. EJ linked me, “Why do I feel like there are things we don’t know?” I snorted, “Because there obviously is. Look at her group of friends.” Dax was tense, so was Addison. Sierra was looking up at the sky, not looking at anyone. Avery’s face was buried in Dakota’s chest. The only person staring people down was Paige. Her eyes held knowledge, but the anger for her friend was stronger. My mom linked me, “Let Melanie handle this with Emmett. I can literally see you about to interject. She can f*****g do this.” Melanie snarked at Emmett. Not backing down from his Alpha stare. My dad was clearly impressed by her. As were my Uncle’s. Uncle Aiden looked positively gleeful the longer her speech went on. Emmett pointed out these people came for her. I didn’t know if my muscles would ever untense at this point. I nearly fell over when Melanie pointed out….no one should’ve known she was in Yellow Hills.
