Hold The Line Pt. 2

I took a deep breath, “Alright….Obnoxious asshats! I’m coming for you.” I turned to Xander, “Can you tell who it is?” Xander frowned, “It sounds like a pup.” I nodded, “Sure, naturally. Why wouldn’t it be? UGH!” I took off running. Through the forest for cover. I reached the other side in no time. Freya getting stronger was no joke. Xander had been right. It was a pup. A little boy. He was putting up a fight. He snarled, “My daddy’s a warrior! He’ll kick your ass.” I smiled. A wolf rebutted his argument, “Your daddy is not here.” I threw a knife and killed the guy. I smiled, “No, but I am.” The little boy smiled and kicked a guy holding him in the shin. He took off for me. They were too stunned to do anything. I took out a gun off my other ankle and shot them quickly. We were going to have to run out of here. I’d been trying to avoid using the gun….because….Alan would know it was me. I picked up the little boy and ran to the pack house. I ran inside. A door opened. A mother ran out pushing people off her. She grabbed him, “What were you thinking?” The boy sighed, “I was just playing by the creek….I couldn’t get back.” She hugged me, “Thank you.” I nodded, “Sure.” I waited until they closed the door then ran back outside. I ran around the circle killing who I could until I reached my spot. Caine shifted back, “Rogues are under control.” I nodded. The last one was about to die at the hands of Yellow Hills warriors.              I yelled, “Look alive. The pack is coming.” I turned to the woods, “Come out, Come out wherever you are, Alan.” Alan snarled, “It’s Alpha, and this about to be my land.” I laughed as Yellow Hills snarled. I called, “Oh come on Alan….you couldn’t beat Alpha Emmett in human form let alone his wolf form. He could even have his hands tied behind his back in human form and beat you....easily. The barrier shrunk again. I smiled. Paige was getting closer. Alan snarled, “Why isn’t the witch doing that dead yet?” I smiled, “Well, she’s my friend. You remember Paige. She cursed you the last time you showed up to Black Path. You miss a lot when you’re hiding in the shadows like the coward you are. Your Gamma is dead by the way, and Allison Daniels is just fine. So is the other pup you had. Alas, you have nothing to barter with Alpha Emmett with. Darn...guess I ruined your plans again. I’d say sorry, but honestly….it’s fun for me. I get a kick out of ruining people like you...whole day. It really puts a smile on my face.” Several Yellow Hills wolves snorted. Alan growled, “I told you that day when we fought….you’d be mine. I’ve wanted you for seven years.” I sighed as Xander roared in anger again. I told Alan, “People have GOT to stop saying that near my mate. It was one thing….when he couldn't hear you all….now it’s just plain rude. He’s right there. I told you that day...I belong to someone else, and I’d rather die before being yours. That statement still stands. I don’t belong to you. I belong to him.” I titled my head to Xander. Alan paled, “You were right? Alpha Alexander is your mate.” My eyes went wide, “YOU KNEW TOO?! Oh my god. You did NOT just admit to a FAR more powerful Alpha than you…..that you knowingly tried to take and mark his mate. Dax, Caine...did you hear that? Do my ears deceive me?”              Dax laughed, “No they do not Mel….I did hear him admit that.” Alan frowned, “No, I didn’t.” I nodded, “Oh, but you did. You knew who I said was my mate...and what do you know? HE IS my mate. You knowingly tried to mark one of the Conners’ mates. Bad call dude.” Xander’s anger was like an all consuming fire throughout my body. Alan frowned, “He will never find you again.” I laughed, “Wow….you’re just going for broke. You didn’t beat me then, and I’m a MUCH better fighter now.” Freya snarked, “I will eat him…..I’ll do it.” My canines elongated. I snorted, “Oh jeez.”  Snarls of anger were all around us outside the barrier. Alan yelled, “ATTACK!” I smirked, “Hold the line!” His wolves came from all over, but we were still ready. This time most came at my side. I worked my way through them to Alan. I laughed, “Still standing in the back. Coward. Come on...round two...you and me. That was your goal...Was it not?”             Alan stepped forward and tried to shift into his wolf. He couldn’t though. I raised an eyebrow, “It doesn’t appear that your wolf is on board with your plan….That should tell you something….I mean like glaringly tell you something.” Alan angrily glared at me and charged. I fought with him, but honestly...I was messing with him. He yelled at me, “When did you get so fast?!” I smirked, “When I got my wolf….you know….the one you brought in more witches to help suppress.” Alan blinked in surprise. I nodded, “Oh yeah….I remember that now.” A pop sounded behind him. I stuck my tongue out at him as Xander literally tore him to pieces. I smiled, “That’s impressive. I mean...you just wow….like multiple pieces….You gotta show me how to do that.” Freya purred in my head. Xander stalked over to me. He put his hand on my hip, and pulled me into him. My body slammed against his, and his lips met mine in a possessive claiming kiss. His tongue demanded entrance into my mouth. I whimpered against him.              Someone chuckled, “Alexander...these people are not used to orgies.” I flushed crimson. T groaned, “Why? Dear god, WHY would you say that? They are fully clothed, and I am steadfastly ignoring what is happening over there. No one was about to mate anyone….especially not my little sister….around all of us. That’s not a thing. I hear and see no evil.” Xander pulled back. Our lips parted with a popping sound. His healing light enveloped us. It felt like seconds. I touched my side, “Wow...that feels great.” Xander stared into my eyes, “No jumping in front of bullets….EVER again.” Well, I was definitely not going to answer that. I would do it for him...or any of my friends...or my family…or his....crap. The list was getting longer.              Dax snorted, “Good luck with that, Alpha Alexander. She didn’t even touch her record for getting shot in a fight.” My eyes went wide, “DAX!” Xander growled, “RECORD?! There is a record?!” I glared at Dax who bit his lip. My dad growled, “What is the record?” I snorted, “I mean….records are many things….people call their albums records…..there are records that people hold that one wants to beat or in this case are really not trying to beat….but they just tease me about it. It doesn’t really mean anything...when you think about it.” Cayden snorted, “Dear GOD Melanie….stop talking.” I frowned, “But he asked, and I was answering...it’s not my fault he asked a question.” T growled, “You’re rambling to avoid answering what your record is for getting shot in a fight.” I linked my friends, “I swear by all that is good and holy….if you answer that question…..”              No one said anything thankfully. Cassie smirked and walked over. She looked at me, “What’s your record?” I felt an intense pressure on my head. I rubbed my forehead, “Can you stop that? It hurts.” Cassie gasped, “WHAT?!” The pressure stopped. I still rubbed my head. Xander leaned down, “Are you ok?” I nodded, “Yes….that was just...weird.” Cassie was gaping at me. I looked around everyone was. Goodie. I linked Dax, “Why does EVERYONE always look at me that like?” Haley popped in front of me. She asked, “Can I try?” I shrugged, “Umm...Sure...quick question….try to what?” Haley laughed, “Cassie tried to make you tell the truth...that’s what you felt.” My eyes went wide, “People feel like that when you make them tell the truth?! That’s….” Haley snorted, “No, no one f*****g feels it. It doesn’t hurt anyone they just the truth.” I frowned, “Umm ok, I guess you can try.” Haley looked into my eyes, “What is your record for being shot in a fight?” The pressure was lighter but I felt it. Haley smiled and I felt the bubble go around my brain. It was weird. I also heard myself answer, “Six times.” I clapped a hand over my mouth. Haley tilted, “Before all of you go all growly about that...Can I just say….that was really f*****g interesting. It felt like I had to keep a hold of her and gently persuade her to tell me. Normally, people just blurt s**t right now. I like her.”                  Xander whirled me around, “Six times?! You got shot six times in one fight?” I winced, “I mean…..to be fair….only two bullets were aimed at me….I feel like that’s important to factor into the whole six times record thing....” Cayden said, “Yeah that’s not going to matter, Mel.” I sighed. Xander growled, “EJ!” EJ spoke, “The area is clear.” Lexi Daniels hugged me pulling me away from Xander. She whispered, “Thank you so much for saving Allison.” I nodded, “Of course.” Alpha Emmett spoke, “Thank you seems insufficient for protecting our people, the territory, and my little sister.” I nodded, “It works.” Jason spoke, “ I’m sorry…. it works?! She’s like…. The flash….and some super fighting machine. She is apparently getting shot left and right. She can feel Cassie trying to make her tell the truth and ask her to stop. What the hell?!”              I sighed, “ I feel the need to clarify…. I have only been shot not in a bullet proof vest once. Every other time…. was a shot to the vest…. so one time shot in the lung…. just the one….” T snorted, “Oh well then that makes it better.” I agreed, “ I know it does. That’s why I clarified it.” T rolled his eyes, ''Sarcasm, Ladybug. That was serious sarcasm.” Xander asked, “Is anyone who shot you alive?” I nodded, “Yes.” Multiple people growled. Eric asked, “Do you know their names?” I nodded, “Yes.” My dad growled, “And they are?” Xander linked me, “ I need to know.” I cringed, “Slade Carter, Edward, Booker, and Trevor are the ones still living.” Jason snorted, “ I’m sorry….Did you say the man claiming to be your mate… SHOT YOU?!” Dylan crunched on popcorn. How did he do that? Was it lined into his jacket? Caine added, “He did shoot her. In the back as she saved a group of pups.” I glared at him, “Not helping Caine. Still shot the vest. The back of it...but still in the vest.”              Caine stiffened, “Do you smell that?” Dylan squealed, “It just got even more fun! YES! You smell things Alpha Caine. Go one with your sniffing self.” A she wolf ran into the clearing. She shifted back and Cassie snapped her clothes. I smiled. It was Judy, the daughter of former beta Matt, Ted, and Joanie. Judy grinned. Caine growled, “MINE!” Ted grabbed Judy who was trying to run to Caine. Caine snarled, “LET HER GO!” I grabbed him. I linked him, “Calm down. She’s yours. That’s her dad.” Matt spoke, “Ted…” Ted snorted, “No. No! There will be no saying of Ted in that tone! Do we even like this guy?!” Caine growled, “She's mine! I would never hurt her.” Judy spoke, “Daddy….” I said, “Former Beta male Ted, Caine is a good man. He is not his father. He’s always wanted his mate. He just never went looking because he didn’t want her to be subjected to his dad. He was waiting until he challenged his dad and was the Alpha of his pack.” Ted frowned, “It’s just Ted and you are relatively new to the group.” I looked away and willed my tears away. I shouldn’t have been.         Elise spoke, “She's not new, and Alpha Caine just fought for this pack. If Ladybug says Caine is a good man, then he is.” Cayden spoke, “He is a good man.” Ted look at his daughter. She smiled at him. He sighed, “You call us every damn day. You miss just one day….and I’ll run my happy ass down to Nashville.” Judy hugged her dad then ran to Caine. I let him go and he met her halfway. Dax relaxed; he'd been ready to fight for his alpha and future Luna. Xander grabbed me around the waist. I looked over at my family. Grandpa Ben looked like he had A LOT to say. Haley snapped all the bodies away. Sierra linked me, “That would've been useful...SO MANY times.” I smirked, “Burning works too. Demons make quick work of bodies.” Sierra tilted her head in acknowledgement. Paige came running out of the pack house. I smiled at her a second before Dalton collided with her. He grabbed her, “You scared me so badly.” Paige frowned, “Umm….ok….how did I get into the pack house?” Dalton gaped, “You don’t know?” I offered, “When Paige zones in on a spell….she basically has a connection with the spell itself. She doesn’t know what’s going on unless she breaks the connection.” Paige frowned, “Well that one was like a super serious one. That dome was no joke. A whole coven had to put it up. What happened?” I shrugged, “Nothing I couldn’t handle.” Dax snorted, “You almost got shot, Paige. Guess who dove in front of you.” I glared at Dax.          Paige gasped, “MELANIE!” I rolled my eyes, “Bullet proof vest people. Bullet proof. Can we talk about something else?” Emmett said, “Sure….let’s talk about how you can see my parents’ house….and how you can run through a spell that was keeping my men and your friends out. Care to explain either of those things?” I frowned, “I can see the house because it’s there. I really don’t know what else there is to say about it. It’s a house...I can see it. There is literally nothing special about that….As far as the barrier...I don’t know what to say other than I’m a….” Dax cut me off, “She’s special.” I raised an eyebrow. Dax linked me, “I don’t think you want to say you’re a freak out here. Several people seem angry enough as it is….particularly your golden eyed Xander.” Emmett snorted, “Ok….what does that mean?” Caine spoke in a hard tone, “ It means….She’s special. That’s what it means. It’s fairly self explanatory.” Addison winced, “Oh god.” Emmett nodded, “I know what the words mean….I’m asking how she can do it. Does her watch have something to do with it?” Freya snorted, “No.” I linked back, “I already knew that.” Freya took over, “Alpha Emmett, now is not the time for that conversation. That time will come, but it is not today.” She slammed me back to the front. I sighed, “Can you do that without slamming me forward?” Freya laughed, “It’s a work in progress.”              Emmett’s eyes narrowed, “So your wolf knows, but you’re not going to tell us?” I frowned, “I don’t know the answer. I can just do some weird stuff.” Emmett raised an eyebrow, “You expect us to believe that?” Freya felt angry and so did I. I glared, “I don’t care what you believe. You’re welcome by the way. You might want to work on how you thank you to people for helping you. You suck at it. You went from thank you isn’t enough to suspicious REAL fast. You’re acting like I did something wrong. I didn’t. I don’t know why I can do weird things….I know how I can see a house….BECAUSE IT’S A HOUSE! That’s not something only I can do. Everyone here is capable of seeing a house. I see several around me. How about you, Ads? Si? You see those houses over there?” Both nodded. I snorted, “Better watch out then, Yellow Hills Alpha doesn’t understand how you could possibly see them. We have better eyesight than most, but hey….let’s focus on how we all see houses.” Xander gripped my waist. Emmett raised an eyebrow, “This is my territory.” I snorted, “Thanks to me...yes, it is still your territory. You’d have to take it back if not for me.” Emmett smirked, “They came for you.” I nodded, “And how did they know where I was? This was planned. They should’ve attacked Black Mountain. That’s where people think I am. Is it not?” Emmett opened and closed his mouth several times.              I titled my head, “So...here’s a tip free of charge….You have a mole. Again, you’re welcome.” Haley started laughing. Everyone looked at her. She shrugged, “What? She’s right. You’re not being very f*****g grateful. I’ve just never seen someone….who isn’t me….get annoyed enough to point these things out to Alpha wolves. She’s not even backing down from your glare. You should look past her though, Emmett.” I raised an eyebrow and looked behind me. Xander was glaring daggers at Emmett. I winced. They were friends, and I could handle myself.              Emmett looked at Xander, “We do actually need these answers.” Xander told him, “You need nothing from my Luna, and you will not talk to her like she’s a suspect or a liar EVER again, Emmett.” Cayden added, “She’s telling the truth anyway. Trust me when she lies….you’ll know.” I pursued my lips. I’d say something snarky, but he was right. I was a bad liar. Emmett sighed, “I am grateful for what she did….but some of that was...I guess the word we are going with is special.” I looked down. Freaky was the word he probably wanted to say. He continued, “My wolf is saying that we should let this go though. I didn’t suspect her of anything. I’m just genuinely curious how she did all that.” He was really going to have to get over me seeing a house. Emmett nodded to my watch, “What all does that thing do?” I blushed, “Umm...a lot of things. It’s a bit like a remote….I just it’s easier, and no one thinks that it’s more than a watch so it’s….easier….to do stuff….” Cayden snorted, “And we are going to chat about this watch I also have.” I frowned, “Aren’t we doing that right now?”              Cayden shook his head. EJ started laughing. Elise was biting her lip. Ted smirked and asked, “How many people in this clearing do you have GPS trackers on?” I could actually feel myself turning the color of a tomato. Dax started laughing. I said, “Umm...I mean….that’s...well….a long story….” Eric started laughing, “Oh, I could guess.” Sierra added, “Us. Obviously.” I added, “I mean technically speaking you guys could track me too….I have the watch on….it would tell you where I am so...I mean technically I’m tracking myself….that doesn’t make sense...but it’s actually true….but any of those guys could do it too.” Caine snorted. I sighed, “Aren’t you going to mate with your mate or something that’s not snorting at the things I say?” Caine smirked. Judy whispered, “My room is….” Caine was already leading her away. Dax smiled. Emmett asked, “Follow up question, how damn smart are you? T said you were a genius, but I thought that was a big brother saying hey my sister is a genius. He’s not though is he? You’re actually a genius. The watch alone says that.” I frowned, “I mean….technically speaking yes I am. I actually have something for you guys...we can talk about that later though.” Emmett shook his head, “We are screwed.” His sister Emma, who was married to Finn Frost, said, “I like her.” Emmett laughed, “I do too.” Xander growled. Emmett smirked, “You do remember I’m happily mated right? And that we are friends?” EJ sighed, “Come on man. You know he can’t mark his mate. He’s an Alpha and with the things we saw happen to his mate….on top of another Alpha threatening….to take her and do things….and I’ll go back to the fact that he can’t mark his mate….you get it.” Emmett sighed, “I do.” He nodded to Xander who tensely nodded back.              I linked Xander, “I’m yours. I always have been.” Eric cleared his throat, “Right, so...let’s…” A pop sounded. Dax immediately growled. Dylan yipped, “YES! How sad for Alpha Caine….he got a fairy and he’s not here to see it. Don’t worry all….I am filming this kodak moment. I SHALL send him his first GLORIOUS Dylan memo.” Sierra linked me, “Who is that girl?” I answered, “Sharon and Garrett’s daughter. That’s Rena.” Rena started crying, and ran to Dax. Garrett, who I did not realize was here, linked me, “Is he a good guy?” I rolled my eyes but answered, “He’s a great guy. He’s also a very good fighter. She will be safe with him.” Rena hugged Dax when they collided. She whispered, “You’re finally here.” Dax growled, “MINE!” She popped them away. Sharon popped in a second later to pop their group home. Xander popped us home into the main room. He pulled me down into his lap on the love seat. I asked, “What are we doing?” Xander was tense, “Having a meeting.” I frowned, “I really don’t know how I got through the witch barrier thing. Freya just said we could.” Xander looked at me, “I believe you.” He leaned down and gently kissed me. When he pulled back several other pops sounded. I looked around. It was Xander’s family and mine. Goodie. Freya sighed, “Let’s get this over with…..maybe mate will punish us.” I frowned, “He wouldn’t hurt us. Why do you sound excited?” Freya snickered, “Not like...Black Path punish….sexy punishing us things. It will be hot…” I flushed scarlet red. I linked, “FREYA!” She just laughed.             EJ spoke first, “Melanie, you learned all those moves….from watching Alexander’s videos?” I nodded, “Yes and from training with Former Alpha Nick and Former…” Grandpa Ben growled, “You call me Grandpa Ben or Ben….don’t you dare say my title young lady.” I sighed, “And Grandpa Ben….well and watching the warriors in Red Run fight.” EJ snorted, “Ok then.” T said, “Great. He’s done. WHAT THE f**k LADYBUG?!” I frowned, “Umm….I don’t know what that’s in reference to…..” T snorted, “You didn’t even blink in a stare down from an Alpha that should’ve had you submitting.... He’s an Alpha. Instead you were sarcastic and rude.” I frowned, “Me? I was rude?! He was rude! Also….I’m a Luna….which is an Alpha’s equal….there isn’t an Alpha around whose stare will work on me.” They all looked at each other like that was news. Jason added, “You haven’t had your ceremony yet.” I snorted, “So? Does that make me not a Luna?” Xander growled, “No, it doesn’t. You’re my mate which makes you a Luna.” I shrugged, “Mystery solved.” Freya linked, “Not exactly but kind of….the logic is there...so it works.” One day, maybe she’d tell me what she was talking about. My dad asked, “How are you getting so much faster?” I shrugged, “My wolf said it’s because she’s getting stronger.” Jason raised an eyebrow, “So your wolf is the flash?” I shrugged, “I’ve always been fast Jason.” Jason snorted, “Not that fast. You made it across the Daniels’ territory in five minutes….probably less.” I shrugged, “Ok…..yes but it was to save two pups. There was a lot of adrenaline going and….stuff.”              My mom said, “You know how to shoot a bow and arrow.” It wasn’t a question. I nodded, “I can use most weapons. I get bored and I learn things. Archery was one of those things.” Elise chimed in, “You can see through fairy charms.” Several people glanced sharply at her. I frowned, “No I can’t. No one can do that.” I’d read about them. Elise rolled her eyes at everyone and said, “Yes, you can. At the party the other night….Cassie was wearing a charm. I had no idea it was her, but you knew. No one can see Lexi and Chase’s house in the woods unless they’ve been brought inside by Lexi, Chase or their children.” My jaw dropped. If there was a fairy charm on Lexi’s house that would mean Haley had probably cast the charm. If Cassie had a charm on….then her Uncle or mom would’ve cast the charm. Why could I see through that then? Freya linked, “Because we are special. They don’t need answers right now.” I asked, “Do I?” Freya linked, “You have always been able to do things others haven’t.” Xander spoke, “She doesn’t know how. We can look into that.” Phil snorted, “Quietly right?” Xander said, “Yes. Extremely quiet. I think we should leave it to Uncle Aiden.” Phil nodded.              My mom whispered, “You were shot six times?” I nodded, “In a fight. Yes.” T spoke, “So you’ve been shot more than seven...no eight times then.” I internally cringed. I didn’t say anything. Grandpa Ben spoke, “Ladybug…..answer him.” I sighed, “Yes.” Jason asked, “How many times?” I pursed my lips, “I’m not actually keeping track.” T narrowed his gaze, “Ballpark it.” I smirked, “More than eight.” T growled. My dad said, “Ladybug….” I sighed, “I don’t know. I’d have to think about it.” My mom started crying, “It’s that high?” I couldn’t exactly tell her doing what I did was dangerous. It wasn’t just fighting other packs. I was the resistance leader. Not that anyone knew that, but they knew the people in all black were resistance members. People tended to shoot at us. I shrugged, “It’s not a big deal. Like I said….I usually get hit in the vest.” Grandpa Ben growled, “Why do you think that makes it better?” I linked Freya, “Do you see why we can’t tell them about our back?” Freya sighed, “I mean….you might have a point. They will flip out about the whole...Swiffer thing.” I linked back, “Only if they find out.” Someone cleared their throat. I sighed, “Because….it’s better to get shot in a bulletproof vest than somewhere else. It hurts a lot more to actually get shot.” They all winced. I sighed, “Can we end the questioning sessions of questions you don’t actually want the answer to?”
