Shocked to the Core Pt. 3

My face was so red I was glad no one could see. I asked, “What’s going on?” He sighed, “We have a celebration in Blue Moon we are attending. I can pop back for you. Elise said she left out an outfit for you.” I laughed and replied, “I’ve never been to Blue Moon. I know how to get there though. Plus...I'm pretty fast. If Elise didn’t leave a dress out...I can drive my bike. If she did, I’ll bring my car. I don’t get to drive it very much. Pants though give me options….I can run and be there quick as a flash.” Xander laughed, “Ok. I really am sorry I forgot to tell you.” I told him, “I’m really not worried about it. What time does the party start?” He linked back, “Twenty minutes we popped in early since the girls were here already.” I linked back, “I’ll be there.” I kept dancing for a little bit. I heard rustling. I frowned. Someone was running away in a hurry. Did I make someone uncomfortable? I grabbed my phone. I cringed and said out loud, “Oh crap on a cracker.” I was late and I needed to shower. I always did this when I got caught up in dancing. I was surprised Xander didn’t link me asking where I was.              I took a step towards the house and swayed. Xander’s annoyance and anticipation flooded me. Was there a fight? My stomach felt tight. I linked Freya, “Are we sick?” Freya linked, “No...just let me take over Mel.” I gaped, “We are shifting?! NOW?!” Freya said, “Yes. Just let yourself feel what you feel.” I cringed. I was going to shift alone….again. God this was going to hurt. Freya answered, “It won’t hurt. Just trust me.” I shoved everything else out of my mind. The feeling spread. I remembered this. The warmth all over my body before the pain. It felt like I blinked. I was on all fours. Did I black out? I hit my phone with my nose. My eyes widened. I linked, “Freya...we shifted in less than five minutes...and it didn’t hurt?” Freya linked, “It was never supposed to hurt for us. If not for those witches and warlocks….if they didn’t know where we were...it would’ve been fine.” I linked back, “That doesn’t make sense. Shifting for the first time takes hours and…” I trailed off that thought because I looked at my paws. They were white. I giggled, “Are we brown and white? How pretty!” Freya sighed, “Not exactly. Go look at our reflection in the water Melanie.” I trotted happily over to the water’s edge.              I looked at my reflection and balked. I backed up, “WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!” Freya sighed, “Sadly...we really don’t have time for a freak out.” I ran back to the water and spun around. I linked back, “HOW ARE WE PURE WHITE?! NO WOLF IS PURE WHITE EXCEPT THE LEGEND OF THE WHITE WOLF WHAT IS HAPPENING?!” Freya answered, “Melanie….I’ve told you we are special. I’ve been waiting for the perfect human half for a long time. We are the white wolf. The one from the legend. Legends get things wrong of course….but we are the white wolf.” I sat down and said, “Oh my god. So all those times...in my mind...That was you?!” Freya sighed, “Yes, it was me. I’d love to give you more time to sort your feelings, but you remember that vision…? That dream...that’s part of our powers...and it’s happening right now.” I gaped, “Powers? We get visions?” That was right. In the legend the white wolf did have powers. I looked at the bottom of my feet and the tattoos were there. Freya linked, “Xander has them too. His are black and white. Our mating bond will be stronger than any wolf, but it has to be. We really need to get going.” I linked, “Oh I’m sorry….it’s not every day you find out your something out of a LEGEND! Wait….my vision? That’s what it was...the dream? My mom! Oh gosh! Someone is going to try to kill my mom! RUN FREYA!” Freya took off. I passed several pack members in a flash. I could hear them, “Did you see…? No…” Yeah well, they could get in line. I spotted Chason and Fowler running with a group of warriors headed for Blue Moon. One had a duffle bag in his mouth. I could smell that it was Laxenread.              I sped up beside Fowler and snatched the duffle bag from him. I could get there faster than he could. His wolf faltered and fell over. I winced. I hadn’t meant to startle him like that. I took off. I heard him shift and yell, “DID ANYONE JUST SEE THAT? DID I JUST SEE WHAT I THINK I JUST SAW? WAS THAT A WHITE WOLF? THE GODDAMN f*****g WHITE WOLF?” Chason must have shifted back because he answered, “If you did...so did I...the legendary white wolf…..is joining us in a fight.” Fowler snorted, “Not if we don’t run faster!” I was already out of hearing range. They didn’t know who I was. That was fair. It was a myth...a legend kids tell around campfires. Gosh….I needed a refresher...what could the white wolf do? I crossed the border at a lightning fast pace. No one could’ve stopped me even if they had been there. I saw several wolves come up short when I passed them. Another one fell over. Someone yelled, “We have to get to the fight! Get up man!” The guy answered, “Did you see what just flashed by us?” I came over a hill. My eyes widened. My dream was really happening. My mom was bleeding. Fury filled me. The guy fighting her in wolf form shifted back. He smiled sinisterly at her. I was covered by the tree line. I could jump out at him, and take him by surprise instead of letting him see my attack coming.. I changed course and went towards them with this plan in mind. The guy turned back towards the crowd, “Ohhh Drake McAlister…..Watch me kill your mate before your eyes….just like you killed my dad.” What? Dad? Who the hell was this guy? The Alpha the of Ducant had kids? HOLY s**t?! WAS THAT HOW EZRA AND BOOKER WERE RELATED?! Booker was the Alpha of the Ducants' son?! I shook my head, “FOCUS Melanie!” I certainly had many thoughts to track down.              My mom threw a punch. The guy dug his hands into a wound on her leg. She screamed and went down. She yelled, “DON’T WATCH DRAKE! I LOVE YOU!” My dad screamed, “NO! SAM!” My brothers screamed, “MOM!” Fury liked I’d never known filled me as the guy arched his arm back. He was going to rip her heart out. I dropped the duffle bag, and snarled in anger. Everything stopped. Holy mother of PEARL! The snarl...in my vision...was me? I shook that thought then charged out of the tree line. I heard several gasps. I ripped the guy's outstretched arm off. I hit him in the face with it. He fell to the ground and I pounced on him and dug his heart out of his chest. I looked around and roared. I took a defensive position standing over my mom. People were staring at me in shock. I felt Xander’s shooting through my body. My mom whispered, “A….a white wolf?” I used their surprise. I killed two more bad wolves. I heard a voice I knew well, “CAPTURE THAT WOLF! DO NOT HURT THE WHITE WOLF! WE WILL BE SO POWERFUL WITH IT BY OUR SIDES!” I looked over. If only he knew...the white wolf was me. They’d had me this whole damn time, and used me as a punching bag. The irony….was just so high. Trevor. Oh…..He was dead. This was a serious error in judgement coming here. I ran over to the tree line and grabbed the duffle bag with my teeth. I needed to get my mom to someone who could heal her. I looked around. Haley was the closest to me. I sent Xander a longing look. He was frozen in shock.             Freya said, “We can electrify ourselves and put her on our back. Anyone we don’t want to hurt will get fried if they touch us.” Handy. Freya added, “Once we train...we could heal everyone’s wolf here…..now we can heal mate and one more.” I linked, “Xander and his dad.” Freya asked, “Are you sure?” I linked back, “Yes, his dad is a legendary fighter.” I laughed, “Get it...I’m a legend and he’s a legendary fighter.” Freya linked, “Yes...you’re in a bit of shock.” We were being surrounded. My dad screamed, “SAM! LOOK OUT!” I ripped the throat out of a wolf who was coming for my mom. I maneuvered her onto my back. She wrapped her arms around my neck. I looked down. I was glowing yellow. Freya linked, “And the fun begins. We are going to run now.” We took off. People were talking all around me. They probably had been the whole time. People jumped at us, but they went down. They shifted back screaming. Huh...I really could electrocute people. How strange….that would’ve been handy… a lot.             I ran to Haley who was fighting with her brothers. I put the duffle bag down. Prince Marcus grabbed my mom off my back. Haley opened the duffle bag then glanced sharply at me. She quickly administered the drug to herself. Julian ran over and grabbed some. He injected himself and popped away with the rest. Freya linked, “I’m almost done healing our mate’s wolf and his dad’s. I get to run with Oden.” Haley snorted and said, “Damn that stuff has a f*****g kick.” She started to heal my mom. I took off running. I was gunning for Trevor. I asked Freya, “Can you electrocute the guys fighting Dalton and Tristan?” Freya snickered, “We can. Think about sending a bolt at them. I did and they went down howling. Freya sighed, “Man….I get to see Oden….as a wolf.” I heard clothes tearing. I knew who it was. Dylan yelled, “OH FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THIS WORLD! WHY GOD? WHY ME? NO NO...WHY HIM?! MANNNNNN WHY?!” Everyone else was confused. Tristan said, “I still can’t shift….should we all take doses of that fairy stuff?” Someone said, “Alpha Eric didn’t.” I ignored them. Trevor was running for a portal.              I jumped on a wolf fighting Avery and killed him. I kept going. Xander linked me, “Mel...I know that’s you. Wait for me.” I linked, “He’s not getting away!” Xander replied, “Who?” I snarled, “That’s Trevor.” Xander growled, “That’s why he had a fairy charm.”  I tackled Trevor from the side before he could get through the holoport that a few others had run through. Freya linked, “We can make him shift back.” I let her come forward and command him to shift. He did. I saw the necklace around his neck and used my paw to rip it off. I grabbed him by the shoulder with my teeth and began to drag him back towards the allies. The fight was won. Fowler and Chason had arrived. The Conners had their powers back. I threw Trevor at my brother’s feet. Both had murderous looks on their faces as they pounced on him. I looked at Paige who was staring at me with her mouth hung open. She knew. I honestly stopped questioning how Paige knew things, but I didn’t doubt she knew exactly who I was. Everyone was looking at me. Eric had shifted back. Freya took in Oden though. My Grandpa Ben took a step towards me, and it rocked through me. I couldn't just shift back…. I wasn’t ready to talk about this. I had to run.              I took off running back towards Black Mountain. I heard EJ yell, “DON’T LOSE HER ALEXANDER!” So EJ didn’t know who I was. Xander couldn't lose me if he wanted to. He could feel my emotions….I wouldn’t be hard for him to find. My wolf would call out to his...there was a whole thing going on. Fowler yelled, “BEST OF LUCK ALPHA ALEXANDER SHE’S….FAST! HOLY s**t! NO f*****g WAY! NO...RIGHT? NO….” Their voices faded. I could hear Alexander running not far behind me. I ran back to the pond I had been dancing at. I jumped into the water. Before I surfaced, I could feel ripples in the water. Oden had jumped in too. I swam to the edge and climbed out. My fur was clear of blood, and back to being white. I noticed it really was a shimmering kind of white. Just like the wolf I’d met….It really was Freya...me….gosh this was were. Whatever the case... I was all white again. I stared at the water.              Oden came over and nuzzled my neck. He shifted back. Xander asked, “Lovebug….do you know how to shift back?” I titled my head. I asked Freya, “Do we know how?” Freya snorted, “Yes.” In the next second I was on all fours but in human form. I gaped, “I HAVE CLOTHES ON?!” Freya laughed, “Yes, we don’t lose our clothes or anything on your person when we shift.” I sat down and took deep breaths, “Oh my god….oh my god.” Xander’s arms went around me. He said, “It’s ok Mel.” I turned around and straddled him. I kissed him hard. I pulled back, “Mark me.” Xander startled, “What?” I shrugged, “I shifted and lord knows we are going to have to talk about all that for hours...days...I don’t even know with a whole damn group of people. So...mark me.” Xander popped us into his treehouse. He asked, “Are you sure?” I nodded, “God, yes.” Xander smirked, “Good.” He pushed me back onto the bed. I couldn’t help but feel a thrill run through me. I would have his mark and he would have mine. We had a lot to figure out, but we were each other’s. Always. I couldn’t bring myself to care about the hours of conversations heading our way. Right now...I was going to get myself marked. Freya snickered, “YES!” I blinked. I understood why she’d wanted to wait to mark him. He would have a white wolf on his neck….with my name. Kind of a good reason to wait. Freya snickered, “I’m glad you agree.” Xander kissed me, and all other thoughts but being with him and marking each other flew out of my head. It was finally happening.
