Addison came out from the back and Chason put her dress in their SUV. We went out to eat. By the time we got home it was pretty late. Valentina hadn’t made it but we facetimed her so she could see the dress. We pulled up and Xander was outside waiting. I raised an eyebrow, “I’m stunned your mates aren’t waiting.” Addison laughed, “I banned Jason because he can’t see my dress. He’s inside and Sharon should be popping in….” Sharon popped in smiling, “Hello...WOW! Beautiful dress.” Addison squeezed me, “Melanie found it. It’s perfect!” I blushed. Sharon popped away with the dress. Dalton, Dakota, and Jason flew out of the house. Sierra laughed when she was scooped up from behind. I heard a pop behind me. I laughed, “You could’ve walked. I saw you over there.” Xander teased, “Don’t you remember? Walking is for losers.” I laughed and turned around to give him a hug.
We all went inside and had a drink before the Red Run group left. Xander went to go check something. I quickly ran up to his room and found my pants from the night before. I found Robert’s phone. I quickly scanned the code he talked to his dad in. They didn’t have a regular check in. They just talked when something happened. Idiots. Though that shouldn’t surprise me given how they deal with hunters. I put his phone away and checked mine. Mason and Hendrick were excited about coming in for practice. Dax and Caine were going to stop by for a bit too. They missed us. I actually missed those two knuckleheads too. Xander came upstairs and hugged me, “I can’t believe I finally get to hear your band play.” I laughed, “You will hear us all the way from over here won’t you?” Xander smirked, “Yes. Yes, I will.” We fell into bed together, and didn’t fall apart for several hours. I woke up agitated. I frowned. I linked, “Freya?” She told me, “I feel it too.” I quickly jumped into the shower praying it didn’t wake up Xander. It didn’t. I went to the gym. I sparred with a couple of warriors who promptly decided they didn’t want to spar with me. I couldn’t blame them. I was on edge. Xander popped behind me, “Lovebug?” I turned, “Good morning.” He smirked, “You ok?” I sighed, “I’m...on edge and I don’t know why.” He nodded, “Alright.” We sparred for a few hours. Several people were watching us when we were done. He kissed me, “I’ve got to run.”
I hit the showers again. They had doors and locks here which was nice. When I was done, I stepped out. I found someone had conjured me clothes. Jeans and sweatshirt. I linked Xander, “Did you conjure me clothes?” Xander linked, “Yes. I thought you might need something to wear.” I smiled, “You are too much. I love you.” Xander chuckled, “I love you too.” Sierra was waiting when I stepped out. She raised an eyebrow. I shrugged. She sighed, “I never like what follows when you are agitated.” I snorted, “Me either.” She threw me my phone and we jogged over to Yellow Hills. Paige smiled, “Hey guys!” I forced myself to smile. Several people were pretending not to notice us. We set up and did a few sound checks. We had just started playing when I saw almost every wolf of importance flee the area as if they were on fire. Followed by hood members. I raised an eyebrow. Several warriors left. I linked Sierra, “That’s not good.” I turned, “Take five everyone.” I linked, “Freya….is Xander in danger?” Freya linked, “No….I would know.” I frowned. Why would they leave? They took off in the direction of Black mountain. They’d be there now. I walked over to my phone. It had blown up with messages. I read the most recent one.
Nate: GET DOWN! We are here.
My hearts stopped as a stronger dome than the ones the rocks could make appear covered the area of Yellow Hills. Paige gasped “Great! Now I need to get to the kitchen. This can only be taken down from the inside.” Dax and Caine ran up, “What just happened?” I sighed, “You guys got here!” Caine nodded, “We just ran through when this happened.” I heard a snarl of anger I recognized followed by more. I sighed, “Safe to say our mates are on the outside. I recognized all those angry snarls. Mason, get Paige to the kitchen and….” I trailed off when I caught the glint of a sniper rifle. I turned. It was aimed at a young girl. I screamed, “EVERYONE GET DOWN!” I took off running and tackled the little girl to the ground and kicked over the table she’d been standing at. Her eyes went wide. Dax threw me a gun. I rolled to the side of the table and took my time. I fired and saw the hunter fall to the ground. He was dead at least. I smelled rouges. I yelled, “YELLOW HILLS STAY HIDDEN! GET THE NON FIGHTERS AND PUPS TO SAFETY! DO NOT ENGAGE UNTIL THE HUNTERS ARE TAKEN CARE OF!” I turned to the little girl, “Hi, I’m Melanie. Who are you?” Her eyes were wide. She said, “I’m Adeline Farmer.” I closed my eyes and sighed, “As in lead Male Warrior Kincade Farmer and Lead Female Warrior Carry Farmer, maiden name Henderson, youngest daughter Adeline?” She nodded. Great. That’s just great. Her oldest brother was probably going to take the title soon.
I heard, “Hey Ashley, Come on out. We just want to talk.” I snorted, “Dawson….you have LITERALLY never wanted to just talk to me. I’m recall you’ve actually wondered out loud if I’d shut up during sex.” I heard a snarl. Damn Xander’s freakishly good hearing. Adeline whispered, “That was Alexander, wasn’t it?” I nodded, “He’s possessive. It’s in his nature.” Adeline snorted. Dawson taunted, “I’ll find out soon enough Ashley. After all this time I’ll finally get a taste of you.” Xander’s roar of anger shook the trees. I could feel his anger throughout my entire body. I rolled my eyes, “You couldn’t take me on my worst day with several knives in my back….why….on GOD’S green earth do you think you take me now?” Dawson laughed, “You’re outgunned and outmanned.” I laughed, “That’s never mattered before.” I whispered to Adeline, “Tell me you guys have an armory?” She nodded, “It’s the building about five feet from us.” Ok finally something was breaking my way. I linked Mason, “How’s Paige doing?” Mason linked, “Working on surrounding herself in salt. She had destroyed this lovely kitchen. It’s so very messy now.” I linked, “We’ll clean it up.”
I touched my watch, “Everyone have their coms?” Everyone answered, “yes.” Adeline whispered, “That’s so cool! Your watch is the com system.” I nodded, “Yes.” I told them, “Armory is by me. Dax...meet me there. Addison, I’m going to send Adeline to you. Wave.” Addison waved from behind the house closest to us.” I told Adeline, “I’m going to run in the opposite direction. They will focus on me. Once they do...you run with everything in you to her. Got it?” She nodded, “I’m fast.” I smiled, “Good. These hunters are terrible shots. Don’t run in a pattern. They probably won’t even notice you.” She nodded. I closed my eyes and linked Xander, “Paige is going to get you guys in. I just need to buy her time.” Xander linked me, “You stay down, and safe. I can smell rogues and hunters.” I linked, “Nashville hunters. They are here for me.” Xander growled, “So I heard.” I linked him, “I’ll be fine.” I took a deep breath and jumped to my feet. I took off running. I heard the shots but I wasn’t running in a pattern, and these boys might have trouble hitting the broad side of a barn. I made it inside and spoke to Addison on coms, “Did Adeline make it to you?” Addison answered, “ She did. She’s totally unharmed. Your brother is pissed.” I smirked, “Sounds like another mate problem for you to do deal with Ads.” Dax came in the back door. I grabbed a bullet proof vest and tossed him one. I threw one on myself, and smiled at the weapons in front of me. I smirked, “Let’s kill some hunters, Dax.” I grabbed several guns and strapped myself down. Dax grabbed gear for himself and everyone else. He smirked, “Let’s do this.” I smiled and we took off running. Bring it on Nashville Hunters. I’ll show you what I’m capable of.
