When Sierra announced that her and Melanie would be getting ready together I tried to hide my disappointment. I wanted to get ready with Melanie. I definitely wanted to see if she was up for some sexy time. I wasn’t letting her go without at least a kiss. Oden linked me, “I mean….we could pop away with her...have sex...then pop her to her friend. Sierra grabbed Melanie and led her away before I could do just that. I snapped myself ready and clean. Phil held out his hands. I laughed and snapped him clean and ready too. I told him, “I swear you are losing your touch, cousin. Your mate is always running off to be with mine.” Phil snorted, “I assure you….I have not lost my touch. I had s*x this morning.” I growled, “Because my mate made breakfast.” Phil nodded, “Which my mate knew. She knew exactly where yours would be. Somehow….she just knew Melanie was in the kitchen making all kinds of food. She even said there would be a smattering of it all.” We walked into the living room to wait. I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop on our mates….but I could hear them talking.
I’d missed the first part but Sierra was telling Melanie I wouldn’t care about something and Melanie disagreed. Phil sighed, “What did they say?” I frowned, “They are arguing about me caring about something. Sierra says I won’t, Melanie says I will.” Phil sighed, “Oh to have your super special hearing. Melanie must not know how good yours is.” I nodded. She probably didn’t. I’m sure Jason told her we have good hearing, but not what kind of range it was. I laughed, “Now they are talking about having s*x with us. Melanie is flustered.” Phil raised an eyebrow, “How do you know that? Her tone? Or did my fairy cousin break the rules?” I sighed, “I didn’t exactly break the rules. I didn’t mark her.” Phil snorted, “You shared your light. Did you tell her?” I frowned, “I didn’t mean to do it.” Phil laughed, “So no. You didn’t tell her.” I ran my hands through my hair, “What am I supposed to do man? She wants to tell me some big secret….before I can mark her. I wasn’t even thinking about it, my light just….had a mind of its own. She’s mine….I’m hers….I don’t care whatever she thinks will turn me away...it won’t.” Phil put up his hands, “I know all that.”
I told him, “I plan to tell her. I just want to wait until after my mission and she tells me whatever she thinks will change things. I don’t want her to feel guilty thinking I don’t know something.” Phil snorted, “She’d rant about it for hours. Probably pace….I’m a fan of that not happening.” I sighed, “I feel bad. I feel bad because I’m excited. I feel bad because I’m not telling her I shared my light. I probably should’ve told her when it happened.” Phil frowned, “I don’t think so cousin. You have excellent instincts. If they are telling you to wait then that’s what you do. We both know it’s not that she doesn’t want you to mark her. It’s that she’s afraid you won’t want to mark her after said information. You though, she’s not wavering on. Sierra told me Ashley/Melanie always said it was you. Ever since they met her.” I frowned, “Then why the HELL didn’t she come to me?” Phil sighed, “I don’t know. I know she didn’t have a wolf until she met you. I know bad things have clearly happened to her. Maybe she wasn’t allowed to come to you.” I growled, “Anyone who kept her from me will PAY Phil. Dearly.” Possibly along with everyone they ever loved.
Phil linked me, “I understand that. We don’t know the situation. I think you’re forgetting something….possibly very important.” I linked back, “What?” Phil sighed, “Ashley Griffen’s family is dead.” I frowned, “Melanie’s family is fine.” Phil frowned, “What if she doesn’t know that? The ring resistance keeps calling Jason the Beta of Red Run. What if…..she thinks something happened to Tristan?” I gaped at him, “If someone made her believe the McAlister’s are dead….but not Jason….” The story about her family came back to me. My anger fired on all cylinders. Phil sighed, “It could just be a cover story. I just want you to be prepared….she might believe this cover story.” I growled, “SHE WAS SHOT! That’s what we have! That’s what you said!” Phil nodded, “Leading me back to the fact that this could just be a cover story. If Melanie was shot….they’d have called her parents. Or the Kyle’s. They are listed as her legal guardians if Drake or Sam cannot be reached. There’s also a possibility….and please don’t explode the messenger's head….but Red Run could be running a play.”
I growled, “Not with her. Not with my Melanie. They better f*****g not be. If Dalton and Dakota didn’t read us in….if my dad doesn’t know...and he doesn’t, because we know he would’ve said something. He knows who I’ve always believed Melanie is to me.” Phil sighed, “There are options. I’m just saying this so that you don’t panic and make people’s heads explode should this come up at a later date. That’s my job. Keeping you calm. Really…..most of the time I just make sure the heavy bags are in stock in the gym. The last few days give me such pause as how to handle the ever growing mystery of Melanie McAlister/Ashley Griffen. Because NO ROADS of ANY kind of plausible explanation lead to a happy Alpha Cousin of mine. There are not enough heavy bags in the WORLD for the anger any and all of the explanations will give you. I know this about the heavy bags because...I checked. Also your brother….his mate LOVES that girl. The world is unprepared for the both of you to be angry. Because if you’re angry….Cassie gets mad….if Cassie is mad….The WORLD is f****d. Because then ALL your siblings, and oh gee….the commander of the Hackura army will be pissed off. Bad things. I see MANY bad things coming.”
I didn’t like this one bit. I told him, “She doesn’t want me to see her with her shirt off.” Phil frowned, “Uhh I smelled what happened between you two.” I nodded, “And she didn’t want her shirt off. Pants she’s fine with. What if she doesn’t want her shirt to come off because she has a scar…..FROM A BULLET HOLE?!” Phil winced, “I mean….you or your mom could fix that.” I growled, “She shouldn’t have ever been shot!” Phil nodded, “Again we don’t know that she was. Maybe she has a weird thing about shirts. Maybe a bully told her that her t**s look weird...she seems like someone who DEEPLY care about what you think.” I raised an eyebrow, “She took my shirt off just fine. If ANYONE told her anything about her t**s….they are so far past dead….it’s crazy.” Phil rolled his eyes, “Obviously the weirdness is about HER shirt, not yours. There are two pools here. I haven’t met any girl our age who doesn’t own a bikini….We can be on the lookout for the scar IF it exists. It might not…..It’s not like the supernatural council would shoot her just for a cover story.”
I growled, “If it was her cover story….yes they would. They couldn’t have a fairy charm it on her because my Uncle or my mom would know. Uncle Aiden seems to know everything so I’m sure he knows how I feel about Melanie. He would not let this happen. My mom would call someone a goddamn f*****g moron who was not shooting a teenager for a f*****g cover story. Then probably killed them for suggesting something so stupid.” Phil nodded, “I agree….I’m sure witches could do something magical.” I gaped, “What witches? None that value their life. To do this to a Beta’s daughter…..of one of OUR allies….is to come against us all. That’s suicide if we don’t know about it. You add in the fact that said girl is MY mate, and it gets SO much worse for them. I do not share my older brother’s affinity for calm. He gets all the pieces before he reacts. I have enough pieces to be pissed off enough to react.” Phil shrugged, “We are full of conspiracy theories here….what if none of them know that we don’t know? Everyone’s assuming that someone knows something when in fact….we all know nothing.”
I told Phil, “I dislike this feeling. Intensely. If someone has hurt her….oh my god! THAT PRICK THAT WANTS TO MARK HER!” Phil winced, “I was hoping that revelation would not hit you….today….possibly ever.” I began to pace. Oden roared in my head. I turned around, “You know his name.” Phil nodded, “I do. He will be VERY dead VERY soon. Ironically, I do know he got the crap beat out of him after Melanie/Ashley’s car accident. Rumor is…..it wasn’t a wolf that did the beating.” I nodded, “Cayden. She’s a source for him. He likes her.” Phil nodded, “I would imagine so. I don’t think there’s any danger of that kid being that dumb before we can kill him.” Oden snarled, “I’ll tear him to pieces.” Phil nodded, “Yup, I don’t think anyone we know will doubt that....in any way shape or form. The girls are coming down now Oden...so can you Alexander back control? Since ya know, we are all pretending we don’t know Ashley is Melanie and Samantha is Sierra. God, the need for answers is so very strong.” Oden gave me back control as the girls walked down the stairs.
My eyes locked with Melanie. She was mine. Some prick bastard tried to forcibly mark what was mine. He was dead. He might not know it yet, but that mother fucker was dead. I’d keep him in the Hackura realm for several years. He’d be my personal toy to play with. My eyes slid to her marking spot. He’d tried to mark her. He’d tried to bite her where only my mark belongs one day. I’d have killed him. She’d still have been mine. The second he died I would’ve known that she was mine. Her mark would’ve faded. HOW DARE HE try to force her to do anything! She was mine and I should’ve been protecting her. f**k the popping rules, f**k the McAlister’s. f**k Red Run. I should’ve been by her side. I kissed her with every ounce of passion I had in me. Phil said we needed to go. I needed to claim her. I needed to let her know how damn sorry I was that I wasn't there all this time. She’d been alone. She’d been suffering and I would not let this go until they all were found. They WOULD all be found, and they would die at my hands. Her s**t Alpha….he was done too. I linked Phil, “They guy who tried to mark her…...is he alive?” Phil sighed, “Yes.” The Alpha was definitely done then. Any Alpha worth their title would’ve killed the prick. So would any ranked wolf. They were ALL on my list. The fake aunt for the cover story….dead. Anyone who wasn’t her friend in that stupid f*****g pack was dead. The future leadership and I were having a chat too. I don’t care if they are friends. You kill that sick son a b***h who tries to forcibly mark your friend. They HAD to know.
I popped us to a mountain I liked. Phil said they’d meet up with us later for lunch at our usual place. I nodded to him. He linked me, “We will hit the gym later. You NEED the gym later.” I nodded. He sighed, “Are you going to link me back?” I answered, “And say what?” Phil shrugged, “I know that face. You’re plotting….someone’s death.” I snorted, “You are short changing me cousin. I am plotting MULTIPLE people’s deaths.” Phil sighed, “Talk to your mate and take several deep breaths.” he went through a portal. Melanie was astonished. She asked if they went to the Hackura realm. I told her that they went to another mountain. We’d planned to hike together, but….I wanted to take her to a special place here.
I was about to start walking when she asked if I’d shift. Oden immediately perked up, “Let’s show her! She’s had that toy wolf….she should see the real thing. It’s only fair.” When she called him by his name it was a done deal. He was purring with delight. He took over and asked if she’d like to see him. Oden grabbed her hand and led her to some cover. Taking off my clothes Oden laughed at how innocent Melanie still was. I linked him, “Be nice.” Oden linked back, “I am. It’s adorable. I love her blush. Melanie told Oden she wasn’t little. She was adorable. She was little compared to me. She teased me about being a giant. A pain hit my heart. We should’ve always been like this. I should’ve pushed to meet her. Oden shifted. Clear as day I heard Melanie in my head, “He looks just like my Xander wolf.” Oden tilted his head. I linked Oden, “How did she do that?” Oden linked back, “Mate is special.” I frowned, “I mean…I know that, but what do you mean?” Oden linked, “I told Freya I want Melanie to ride on our back.” I sighed, “So you’re not going to tell me what you mean.” Oden linked, “I already did. Mate is special.” Obnoxious wolf. Oden snorted, “Annoying when the other half of you doesn’t listen, isn’t it? I can sympathize. I’ve been telling you she was ours…..FOR ELEVEN YEARS!”
Melanie started to pet Oden’s fur. I linked him, “You’re purring….” Oden growled, “Shut up. You know it feels good.” I asked, “You seem to be contacting Freya easier than you were before.” Oden linked, “She’s getting stronger because we are around. She doesn’t have to sleep as much, but she still does get tired out.” Melanie climbed on my back and Oden took off. When we reached the lake, I shifted back and took over. I needed her. I managed to ask if she was sore. She wasn’t. She was struggling to get her pants off so I snapped them out of the way. I was going to prepare her, but she was having none of that. She was going to be the death of me. I couldn’t deny her wishes. She made no move to take off her shirt, and I remembered why I was so upset earlier. Someone hurt her. That’s why she doesn’t want me to see. They would pay. Everyone would know to hurt Melanie McAlister would be signing their own death certificate. I couldn’t get enough. She was my air that I needed to breathe. She was my calm in the craziness of my emotions. My anger evaporated near her. It was waiting….I could feel it on the edge ready to consume me, but she never let it. She was just there. Keeping me from going over the edge.
When I managed to pull myself away from her she mentioned we’d look like messes at lunch. I snapped us back to normal even though I had no problem with everyone knowing what we’d just done. They didn’t need the visuals though. Any supernatural would smell it. I couldn’t stop myself. I wanted her again. She was into it. Phil linked me, “Where are you? We have been here for fifteen minutes.” I groaned and linked back, “Remember the days when you’d be busy having s*x and I stopped you? Seriously man! Have more s*x with your mate, so I can.” Phil linked, “We had a time to meet up, man. I pulled it together for the timeline.” I snorted, “Sure. Slacker.” I told Melanie we needed to go. We walked into the restaurant and Phil linked me, “Please fix Sierra’s hair. She’d overly self conscious about it, and I don’t have snapping magic fingers that fix hair.” Phil then announced he’d run into Elias. Elias was the Alpha around here. He wanted us to stop by the gym. I linked Phil, “Did he really?” Phil smiled, “He actually did. It was all very handy and even came wrapped with a bow on it. Who was I to argue?”
Melanie was excited and wanted to go. I should’ve anticipated that. Of course she wanted to get a fight in. They just need their clothes. That was not a problem. Melanie’s excitement grew the closer we got to leaving. Phil linked, “I think she likes a good fight as much as you do.” I smiled, “I’m looking forward to seeing her fight.” Phil smiled, “Me too. I might even get in the ring with her.” I raised an eyebrow, “If you do, then I get to too.” Phil nodded, “I’d very much like to see that. I’m ABSOLUTELY getting in the ring with her now. Gotta see that. Gosh...I don’t know who to put money on. This is an odd feeling. Normally...hand down...I back you. Now, I’m conflicted.”
When we walked into the gym the girls walked off to the locker room to change. Elias smiled, “My brother wants to fight you Alexander.” I smiled, “I’m game.” Elias asked, “Who should we pair the girls with?” Phil sighed, “If you want to live….mated men or any women.” Elias laughed, “And their names are?” Phil laughed, “What a question Elias…..What a question. Ashley Griffen and Samantha McLean.” Elias gaped, “THE Ashley Griffen? From Nashville? The wolf less female lead warrior from Black Path?” Phil nodded, “Yes. That one.” I linked Elias, “Not wolf less anymore, but we are keeping that on the down low if you could tell your men. She hasn’t shifted yet. Her wolf is very new to her.” Elias nodded, “I didn’t sense her wolf, but I wasn’t really trying. I could sense Samantha’s though.” Elias nodded, “There will be a line to fight Ashley.” I growled. Elias raised an eyebrow, “Oh yeah? With the growl? You sweet on the woman, Alexander?” Phil said, “I told you….mated males when I ran into you earlier. Mated males only.” A few people groaned. I got into the ring. I tossed my shirt off, and started my own fight.
I nearly faltered when Melanie walked out in tight yoga pants. I linked Phil, “A long sleeve tight top. I swear to ALL the gods and goddesses Phil…..if she has a scar….” Phil sighed, “I know. You’re distracting me. I’m busy. I don’t want to get hit in the face. I’d bother you until you healed me because...one cannot do the sexy time activities I have planned...with a busted lip.” I looked over. He was busy. He’d started his own fight. I linked back, “Sierra is distracting you more than me. I would heal you, cousin. You know that.” Phil snorted, “I notice I’m not the only one distracted oh smarmy one. You are still a machine, but not your usual machine self. We’ll have to get you two working out together at home so you get back to the machine man Alpha we all know and love.” I noticed Melanie glaring at some girls. I looked over. They were looking at me. Oden was gleeful, “Mate is jealous.” I smirked, “I am aware.” Melanie looked at me and I winked at her, then showed off a little for her. My opponent grunted with the shot I’d taken.
I nearly fell over when Ludvig introduced himself to Melanie. I linked Elias, “YOUR LEAD WARRIOR IS FIGHTING HER?! WHAT ABOUT A WARM UP?” He linked back, “She’s a lead warrior herself, Alexander.” I linked him back, “It will be you and me in this ring next if she gets hurt.” Elias linked, “Alexander….what’s going on? Is she your mate?” I linked back, “Yes.” Elias winced, “Any reason….she’s not marked.” I linked back, “It’s complicated.” Elias linked back, “Fairies man.” I snorted, “This has to do with wolves in Nashville.” Elias linked, “I assume you wish these wolves in Nashville to be dead soon. We will stand with you should you need us.” I linked back, “Thank you Elias.” I maneuvered my fight so I could watch Melanie. The whole gym stopped their fights when she flipped Ludvig and pinned him like it was nothing in one move. Elias linked me, “Ummm….WHAT THE s**t?!” I had no idea. I knew Melanie was good...but Ludvig was a good fighter. He was the lead warrior for a reason. No one moved as she easily took Ludvig down again and again.
Eventually we all stopped gaping at her. Her ass was bouncing around along with her boobs. God I needed her. I needed to be buried inside her. Eventually, we continued our own fights. While all watching her. Oden and my possessiveness was spiking. Several guys were admiring her. I snarled at more than a few. She’d pinned Ludvig several times. It had to be because she was unmarked that the position bothered me so much. Because every time she pinned him the desire to claim her as mine doubled. Elias stepped into our ring as multiple men started to line up to fight Melanie. I was practically vibrating. Elias said, “I think we call this fight now, brother.” His brother, Edver, laughed, “I suppose that is his mate then.” I answered, “She is.” Several people immediately averted their eyes. Edver laughed, “Some guys just get all the luck, Elias. She is stunning, and a good fighter to boot.” Phil shot me a wink then jumped into the ring with Melanie. Sierra came over to our ring. She smiled, “I told her you guys weren’t ready for her. No one ever is. You should've seen the look on everyone’s faces when she pinned Gamma McCann...then there was my dad...then the Alpha...at the female warrior tournament. It was hilarious.” Elias snorted, “I think it’s safe to say….no we were not prepared.”
Sierra smirked, “She was offered a position in the Hackura army. She’s that good.” My head snapped in her direction, “What?” Sierra nodded, “Yup. She impressed the Commander himself.” Cayden and I were having a talk. Phil of course had decided to call Melanie/Ashley Shley. He would. Sierra laughed, “What is his deal with names?” I raised an eyebrow, “Pot meet kettle. You growl every time he calls you by yours.” Sierra shrugged. Elias linked me, “Is that not her real name then….Samantha?” I linked back, “No. her real name is Sierra Kiern.” Elias snorted, “Is Ashley’s real name Ashley?” I linked back, “No.” Elias linked, “But you know what it is?” I nodded. Elias linked back, “Does she know that you know that?” I linked back, “No. She doesn’t. She wants to live in our bubble until after I come home from my mission for my Uncle.” Elias asked, “And you’re going to do just that, aren’t you?” I smiled, “What do you think? If your mate asked you….What would you do?” Elias smiled, “I’d suck it up with a smile and give her anything she asked for.” I nodded, “Exactly. That’s what I’m going to do.” While I theorized the hell out of everything and plotted a mass murder. Might as well call it war at this point.
Jaws were on the floor when Melanie beat Phil. I was holding Oden from claiming her here on the floor. Elias said, “Seems your mate knows your moves, Alexander. I’ve seen you fight like that before.” Sierra snorted, “Alexander’s word is gospel to Ashley. Every single video he put out she watched and memorized the movies until they were muscle memory.” I jumped into the ring. Melanie told Phil they didn’t teach her anything in Nashville. No they didn't, that was Red Run and my videos. Videos. I couldn’t be prouder of her. She’d learned so much, and she did it from videos. She was fierce. Phil linked me, “She’s….good.” I linked back, “So I’ve noticed.” Phil linked back, “I’m more curious if you can fight her with that raging hard on. It will be impressive either way. I won’t give you any slack due to the raging hard you’ve got going on either.” I rolled my eyes.
I pushed harder than I normally would in a first fight against someone. Melanie was really fast. Oden’s pride matched my own. We weren’t fighting to hurt each other. Hurting her was unfathomable to me. Sparring like this though….God it was intoxicating. She was blocking me. I was blocking her. She’d almost had me, but at the last minute...I flipped her pinning her beneath me. I kissed her as many people in the gym cheered. I knew there were several men cheering tinged with jealousy. They wanted what was mine. They could f**k off. They couldn’t have my Lovebug. Sierra told Melanie she was waiting for a guy who could beat her in a fight. Exfuckingcuse me?! She was MINE! Phil linked me, “Do us all a solid and pop home before you claim her. Elias just texted me they really their need their gym today. They plan to use Shley/Melanie kicking their assess for extra training. Also my mate already told me and I told you that Melanie always said you were her mate. So before you go all possessive Alpha male….my mate was talking about you.” I popped us out without answering him.
I instantly pounced on Melanie in our bedroom. I needed her badly. Oden growled in my head, “Mark mate!” I linked, “We can’t!” Oden was practically pacing in my head. I buried my head between her thighs. I’d never been so distracted in a gym. She captivated me. Mind, body and soul. She stunned me by giving me a blow job. I couldn’t last more than a few minutes. Her doe eyed innocent look with her mouth around my cock...I was practically already done for after watching her in the gym for several hours. Watching her on top of other men. f**k! I nearly growled thinking about it. When I came….I almost said her name. Her real name. I barely managed to stop myself so it sounded like I said me instead of Mel. Oden linked, “Smooth. Real smooth.” Obnoxious wolf! I flipped her onto the bed. I drove into her. I couldn’t stop saying she was mine. I knew there were men in there who wanted her, but she was mine. That bastard in her pack wanted her, but he would not be living much longer. I only settled when she said she was mine. Whatever was holding her back, it wasn’t about being resistant to being mine.
