Manon
I get off work early. I need some room to breathe. To think.
I drive home, noticing a dark SUV in my driveway. I look at my phone. Niccoló didn't text me.
Who is that?
I shoot him a quick text.
Someone's in my driveway. Did you send for me?
He takes a moment to respond. No. But go on in.
I take him at his word. My curiousity is piqued now. I head on up to my apartment, unlocking the door.
And there he is. Sitting in my apartment like he belongs there.
"What the hell are you doing here Kaleb? How did you get in here?"
He smiles at me, standing. "Finally you're home!"
"Get out!"
His smile drops. "You're not happy to see me?"
Happy to see my cheating, lying, mistake? No. Not particularly. But Niccoló must have known about this.
What is he up to?
"How have you been?"
"Why are you still here?" I demand. "How did you get in my house?"
His hands go up, indicating surrender.
"I just wanna talk."
"I want you to leave," I insist.
"We haven't seen each other in years."
"How's your baby? And your girlfriend?"
He smiles softly. "Fine."
I scoff in pure disgust. "I'm gonna call the police," I inform him, dialling 911.
"Police? Why not just get your little Mafia man?" He sneers.
Is he seriously doing this right now? Pretending he has some right to be jealous or angry?
His child is starting school this summer.
"You want a divorce, Kaleb?" I hang up the phone. "I'll give it to you. Just get the hell out of here."
"No I want an explanation! Why are you screwing around with him?"
"How dare you?"
He approached me, the kind hearted man I once met gone. In his place a demon.
"How dare you, Manon? What does he have that I don't?"
Do we even have that kinda time?
"Just leave. Before I have to get the law involved. You have a child now, Kaleb. Focus on—"
"No!" He rushed me, making me back myself against the wall. "You belong to me, and no one else will have you!" he raises his hand.
I look around for things to smash his head open with.
"Touch her." It's a simple command. But the threat was obvious.
I'm gonna kill that son of a b***h.
There he stands, imposing, looking rich and very thinly amused. His suit, as always pressed and tailored to his well over 6 foot frame.
"Just once. Touch her."
Kaleb smirks. "And if I do?" He reaches his hand out in my direction.
"I can show you better than I can tell you. I don't think you wanna go there with me though," Niccoló smiles, shaking his head with a shrug. "I really don't."
"I really do," Kaleb taunts.
Niccoló takes his challenge lightly. He takes three steps forward, his eyes on Kaleb's.
His hand reaches for me, pulling me away from Kaleb towards the door.
"Take her," He orders Angelo, who, apparently, had been there the whole time.
"Are you sure you can take me without you're dogs?"
Niccoló just eyes him flatly. "You talk alotta s**t. But then, boys usually do."
I don't know what happened next. I was escorted to the car and driven back to the estate.
My belly fluttered as I imagined all the bloody, gory endings that could be.
An hour later, he saunters into the room.
"Did you kill him?"
He smirks, his eyes on me. "And if I did?"
And if he did?
"T-then...then you're a murderer. A-and—"
He chuckled darkly. "And you didn't know that? You couldn't fathom it. That's why you asked me if I killed him, right?"
I'm so confused. "J-just give me an answer."
He takes off his jacket. "What do you think, Manon? Do you think I killed him?"
In truth... I...
I don't know.
He places, on knee on the bed, a wicked look on his face.
"What if you're next? You're not keeping anything from me, are you? Oh dear," He taunts, "What a mess."
His long fingers undo his buttons. The first. Then the second.
"You've been sleeping with a murderer. How does it feel, kitten?"
I bite my lip, my eyes downcast.
He forces my head up.
"I think you like it. You don't seem too scared of my touch—" He thumbs my bottom lip. My breathing hitches, my eyes close.
They flutter open, caching sight of his victorious smirk. Slowly, he pushes his thumb in my mouth. I accept it willingly.
"So much for righteous indignation, huh baby?"
In this moment I'm so powerless against him. But...I...
