Emelda, now fully dressed, almost on her way out. Although she was filled with hate she couldn't stand the treatment being meted out to him. She immediately orders them to stop. They obey her every word especially when her uncle Hector is not around. No one wants to get on his bad side by angering his precious niece. One by one, they leave the room until there are just two men left alongside Emelda. " Stark will drive you home, he'll provide you with whatever you may need. Our family reunion is in two days and my uncle would be expecting you. You must be in good shape." She says with a reckless and carefree look She leaves with one of the men, who is clearly her personal bodyguard. His bodybuild says it all. Karl coughs profusely with blood all over the floor, he gets help from Stark who was charged with the duty of making sure he was in good health prior to the reunion. Somehow Karl wished he had called his adopted parents, well there was no assurance they would come but if they did, raining insults and abuses on him would have been much more bearable than what just happened to him. His face bruised and eyes swollen with blood dripping from every corner of his mouth as they head towards the car. "What sort of life is this? I wish I were never born. I have never experienced true genuine love all my life. The only true friend I had set me up. The only reason I kept pushing, all I thought I had was gone too. My Emily left without any sense of remorse What more is there to live for???" Weeping profusely while complaining to Stark who clearly was not interested in his complaint. He was more concerned about getting him to the hospital. If anything happened to him, boss Hector would kill him before he gets the space to explain himself. It's 12:45pm and Karl is in St Louis hospital, the best in all of Newyork. Under the watchful eyes of a team of doctors and ofcourse Stark. Cough! Cough!! He wakes and clearly doesn't understand anything happening around him with so many strange faces. No doubt, he was sedated. "He's awake", Dr Smith calls out. Alerting other doctors who rush to check his pulse and vital signs. "He'll be okay. He just has two broken ribs, nothing that can't be handled. He needs to stay out of hardwork and trouble. The nurses will come to administer his prescription after now. I'll be in my office" Dr Smith leaves while retrieving his stethoscope. Followed by other doctors who clearly are happy that Hector's patient didn't die under their watch else that would mean big trouble for them. Auch my side hurts, Karl complains "I need to get to my workplace as soon as possible or I would get fired. You have to help me get out of here"…. He adds expectantly "You should get some rest, clearly you have a broken rib or perhaps more. You are now an in-law to the richest family in North America. You shouldn't be doing some petty jobs when your health is at risk". "Besides I can't leave you alone, I will lose not just my job but my head as well if I let you elope after sleeping with my boss' niece. So you better take a chill pill". Minutes later…. Mr and Mrs Oscar barge in. With such audacity, no doubt they are his adopted parents with so much anger in their looks. Stark at a noticeable distance but still with watchful eyes on Karl to ensure nothing goes out of proportion. " You're such a disgrace, I regret the day we got you from the orphanage. You have been bad luck all the way. We lost our jobs after your coming and you're nothing to write home about even after going to college. To make matters worse you are now into gangsterism" Mr Smith, pointing right at his face with so much anger and disappointment. "Well we came to say goodbye, we are relocating to Canada to stay with my sister Sansa. We're not returning any time soon. It's a trip for two so there's no place for criminals and badluck. Feel free to return to the orphanage where we picked your sorry ass. You have been trouble from the start. Thank the Samaritan who paid your bills too because we were not planning to." "So mom I believe this is a goodbye?" Karl asks with faint tears rolling down his cheeks "Noit's a farewell"… she responds, removing his hand from her dress with a smirk on her face. "That's your favourite bracelet, I figured you left it behind the last time you came visiting"… she throws it at him They leave together with no sense of hurt evident in their countenance Stark, witnessing all this begins to understand why a full grown man like Karl would shed tears for hours refusing all forms of comfort. Karl with knees on the ground, holds on tightly to the bracelet. He had never lost sight of it since he was four. It's the only thing that was found on him when he was found. Atleast that's the much he was told by the sisters of mercy in the orphanage where he was found. It's a gold bracelet with a krane and an inscription "The True Heir" He never really put much interest in what the text meant but what mattered to him was that there was something he could hold onto and believe he did not fall from the sky. The story of earthen tears one that stems from pain, hurt and anguish He had lost all he had. No friends, no Emily and now the only family he has were gone too leaving him alone in this world in the midst of all his troubles and worries. How would he face Hector and his family when he tells them he has no one to call family. How would he get out of a trouble he does not understand it's origin, a s*x scandal with one of the most powerful men in America? A broken heart in a world punctured by the spears of endless hurt yet no sign of lasting salvation
