THE GAME PLAN that evolved for the beach trip was to leave on Friday afternoon. Mason and Angela were expected the following Tuesday, at which time we would fly home, leaving the boys with the Cartwrights. Steve and Roger were adamant about not being away from their business on two successive weekends, so I agreed to fly down and pick them up Friday afternoon. Mason and Angela would close up the house and drive home on Sunday.
Armed with a favorable weather report, we flew out on Friday afternoon as scheduled. Since only two of the four passenger seats were occupied, Lance accompanied us, and instead of using his crate, I allowed him to curl up in one of the unoccupied seats.
